Well following on from the last thread I have made about how we can do more for NZ eSports, as I have come to realise there could be so much more to offer those kiwis and those living out there in NZ in the eSports scene.
What can we really do to promote eSports more in New Zealand?
Many really good ideas were suggested for it and I figured why not pose the question and take a few of these ideas and mix them with my own. So a idea that was proposed was the establishment of a.......
NZ Cup:
Where NZ competitors will battle it out to determine who truly is the best player in the whole of New Zealand (My moneys on xGkingJazBas )
So yeah I would like to hear what the people have to say and I figured, well why not I have seen a lot of willing support from the ballers here at Sc2sea and I am willing to dedicate time and energy to this cause, because I believe that NZ eSports should be further developed within the Starcraft 2 Community. (Don't worry ToR :P I am dedicating a lot of my time for you guys as well )
I'd be interested and I know plenty of others who would be too. Maybe make it a fortnightly thing, top 8 seeded single bracket? That makes things simple whilst stopping the big players running into each other too early.
Aiiite sounds like theres going to be a decent amount of interest of this :P We will have to think of how we are going to organise this in order to make it fair and fairly competitive (:
I won't be able to be in game for the next few weeks, since im sending in my laptop to get it fixed. So I should be back within 2-3 weeks, with a sick badass new card hopefully and a cooling pad
Then over this time ill organise this event in what spare time I have, ill still be on Sc2sea most days (Yaay iPod ) so ill post an official sign up thread for it or something like that, in order to keep track of progress that sort of thing.
I did have an idea that good old Frogmite did suggest and that was the concept of higher and lower divisions but that would definately depend on the level of interest that kind of thing. Plus some thoughts as to funding and prizes for this series, hahahahaah im flat broke -.- not nice.
Really want my laptop baaaack like Naaaaoo but ill be organising all this by my ipod and I like the suggestion for the similar formal of the SEACOL master division set up it does sound good. But for it to work effectively we need to trial the idea of how the divisions will work ^^
Anyways im looking forward to this going to be a looooooooooot of fun
I have been giving it a lot of thought lately and have been coming up with some ideas to make this idea successful at least in the early stages of its development.
- The first "NZ Cup" will be held around early January (Date to be confirmed)
- I've had this idea, that maybe the event may be able to run monthly, bearing some resemblance to the GSL in that respect.
- Prizes/Rewards: Well in the initial NZ Cup im going to look to secure some funding for a prize pool. Donations kindly accepted to get this event running (:, but maybe I myself can sponsor a "NZ Rep" Shirt or something, depends if in broke again or not. Stupid cashflow crisis.
- As to format, I have considered the idea of running the tournament similar to a Possible round robin od even SEACOL Master Division. I still meed to confirm.
More details to be revealed, if those interested could post their details in the following format:
- ID and CC: Spartaz, 780
- Race and Division:
- Location: Auckland
Plus i would like to know the avaliability of you guys, also NZ casters shout out please or PM me. Thanks for being patient guys means a lot.
Well the laptop is back tomorrow that means ill spend all of my time tomorrow night establishing the NZ Cup officially. Because I can actually format it on my laptop properly, iPod takes way too long to type faaaaar.
Hey so what would be the go of watching this and replays? Also I love the idea of round robin stuff. SC2 needs more elongated seasons so we can watch a player develop through the season. Probably too ambitous for this project, but somebody needs to start doing some NRL style stuff, fortnightly matches or something, everyone plays everyone twice, followed by a finals seasons. Not a new idea I know, but stilll one that hasn't taken off in SC2 that I'm aware of.
Tonight I may try to get back into shape in terms of my play, and later on. Ill do some threading. By tonight ill post the official thread for the Cup. Been slack since I got my laptop back ^^
