BSG ClanLeague Season 2 SIGNUP

Season 2 is coming! I am taking signups from BSG clans or existing clans that can produce an all-BSG roster. With the excitement and success of the first season, how can we NOT have a second. It's with great pleasure the BSGCL admins bring this experience to lower league players, to enjoy a fully fledged clan war tournament without the daunting task of facing up to masters level players.

If you think your clan has what it takes and want to represent your team read on to see how to apply!

Rule changes from last season:

Current Season Information:

GSTL format (all-kill, 4 players)
Length of the event will depend on the number of signups.
Tournament structure will involve a round-robin league stage and a playoff final stage.
Playdays will be negotiated between teams (ensure your players are free).
Default play night is Thursday night. Showing up on Thursday night is the only chance to get your games casted!
If teams cannot agree on a time, default times will be set on weeknights or Saturday by staff.
Prize: The winning team recieves a clan logo.
The best players (based on stats) from BSGCL Season 2 will be invited to an all stars 1v1 tournament after Season 2 ends for cash prizes. So rack up those wins!

In addition, please include the players names, character code, race and league. If you prefer, you can use the forum flag and race icons to post your roster and if you don't know some of the character codes you can sign the player up now without it and fill it in later. A roster MUST include AT LEAST 2 Silver OR Bronze players with a minimum team size of 5, maximum of 12.

Would love to give it a bash, but I'm not part of a clan and can't make Thursday's for the first 7 weeks. o_O
Guess I'll have to wait for Season 3.

Hey man, you can go mercenary by jumping on board another BSG clan, or put your name down in the looking for clan thread.

To clarify on Maynarde's original response, we WILL be making a team (or two if interest is large enough) for unclanned players to participate.

Obviously, being in a clan will have better / easier organisational aspects and you can't quite have a clan logo for clan "blank" so you lose some benefits, but we're trying to make this event as accessible as possible for the community.

DO NOT sign up as an unclanned player IF you are unable to commit to keeping in contact with your team.

They will NEED to contact you incase of matchup day/time issues to get them sorted.
ANY unclanned team member who does not make a week without contact (or a later provided good reason) will be removed for the remainder of the season so they do not drag their team down due to slackness.

On that note, anyone clanless who wants to sign up, please sign up as an individual clearly stating you are clanless so we can work out who we have and how many clanless teams we can post, if any at all.

How would you make it so bronze and silver players get a chance to play, rather then just all golds then?

The rule will remain and ordered lineup to begin with.
That is, Bronze players go first, then a Silver, then whoever wants to go next.

Reason:
If a Gold goes first, what if they all-kill?
Then the issue of Bronze and Silver players not getting a game is not solved.

HOWEVER if a Bronze goes first, mr Bronze gets a game.

Potential Counter-Argument:
What if a Bronze all-kills?
THEN THEY'RE CAPTAIN CHAMPION BOSSMODE BIGDICKMAN. And you should all bow to him.

I'd prefer a surprise Bronze all-kill, than a Gold one.

Bronze then silver is a bit harsh. We only have one bronze player who is in a position to play - if he can't make it or gets promoted then we're boned.

How about the first two players have to be either bronze or silver?

Also as Syn stated, if the player was Bronze at signup they will be treated as such / counted as a Bronze for the team for the season.

Yeah you're right, we should should just make it GCL instead of BSGCL. Cause golds are better, shinier league icon and all.

No. It's BSG ClanLeague. I want Bronzes to play as well as Silvers, and I'm sure that Bronze players want to play as well. I don't want to see all Gold teams, because the level of play isn't what's important here, it's everyone getting a go regardless of league (as long as you're Plat or under when you sign up). If this ends up being a problem for everyone and there really aren't that many Bronze players to go around then we'll revise the rule.

Until then, recruit more Bronze players. Recruit more Silver players. Again, if this is too much of an issue the rule may be revised. So everyone with a problem please untwist your knickers, we just want to run a fair and fun tournament here.

Unfortunately when we recruit bronzes (and they're active enough to be playing in tournaments), they tend to promote. The only result is that it discourages our lower players from laddering.

We aren't going to recruit bronzes asap just to participate in a tournament, they have to go through our process which tbh takes on average a month.

I'll have to bring this up with Edarus and Maynarde first, but i THINK if a player is signed up as bronze and they get promoted, they're still considered bronze for the reason of BSGCL.

But as i said i will have to check with Edarus and Maynarde if that's the case, before i say that is actually how it works.

Although I agree its a silly rule, the tournament does seem kinda pointless if some measure isn't implement to encourage us lower level players to play.

Might as well just be Gold ClanLeague otherwise...

Minimat and Whiplash, I understand that it can be hard to find Bronze players as I posted earlier today. They're either promoted quickly from being active or aren't active and don't want to compete. The admins and I will talk about revising it, Whiplash's idea is not bad.

Minimat I apologize when I read "what if a gold player all kills" I thought you were saying we should allow pure gold teams again. It's been a long week!

I do agree with you that last season where it was mostly golds (really plats, and if you check people from last season there's a few diamonds) playing wasn't in the spirit of the thing.

Why be a dick about it? We all want the same thing. We aren't picking holes in the event, we just want it to be fair for every team. Please stop taking this as a personal attack.

Have a look at the lists for last season. 5/12 have one bronze player. Two have none at all.

So if those two teams manage to get a bronze player, then there will be 21 games where the managers have to schedule a time where both bronze players can make it (bronzes probably being the most inactive) and enough players for the rest of the teams.

Not everyone has a big, deep team. Not everyone has the same relaxed recruiting criteria. Look at our squad. Welshy is going to get a game some time, regardless of affirmative action rules, just like he did last season.

Wasn't being a dick at all. I was saying, if you're having issues sorting out rostering times to suit your players that we accounted for that already by making the entire timing of the event more flexible for everyone, albeit at the disadvantage of the admins who will possibly have to be online adminning BSGCL events every night of the week - Ie if its something thats going to directly affect me as a player, admin captain AND manager I wouldn't have suggested it nor put it forward so lightly - hence the "see the play times for clarification" comment.

Sorry if that was misunderstood as rage.

We do realise not every team has a bronze player (i'm manager for TA, you'll note we don't have a lineup yet because I can't find us a Bronze, so I DO actually see the downside matey).

Our main, key goal in this whole rulemaking and changing was PURELY to ensure that everyone got a go, and we're trying our best to meet that. Hence the revision on lineups and team requirements, the anti-all-kill rule we planned to test the waters with, because as you said "we all want the same thing, we just want it to be fair for every team [and I add, every player / participant]".

With the poll now up, we shall review the results and much like the decision on the event format, it will come down to what the community wants because we arent 3x The Overmind, we're 3x Community Admins.

No one's being a dick on purpose here, no one is taking anything as a personal attack, so neither should anyone else. I appreciate the feedback from everyone, as does Synizta and Edarus cause we want this thing to be awesome. As I said earlier, if this is a problem for everyone it will be revised, Whiplash's suggestions are pretty good and make sense, but we only have a couple teams sign up so far.

I would personally like to give it a bit more time before we change the rule, but with 3 or 4 separate people concerned with the rule at this early stage it may warrant a poll. I'll look into that. Until then, everyone cool your jets. We all want the same thing.

I don't really like enforcing any order... All-kills are perfectly fine and part of the format.

Make them send a bronze and a silver at some point, or at least 2 non-gold players or whatever, but don't force them to do it first... :/ If they send a gold first to beat your bronze, send your own gold to snipe them... they've taken out a bronze, you've taken out a gold. advantage you

I think what the admins are trying to do here is to ensure that it is a BSg-Clan League instead of a Gold Clan league cos if you look at S1, not alot of the bronze and silvers got to play, it was mostly the Gold.

I think being able to send out two

is actually a good idea, because if bronze people are not active, they will not want to play in the tournament, and if they are active they will learn fast and get promoted. It's not that I am against

people playing but the thing is that if

From the feeling I got from BSGCL season 1, team managers were trying to let every team member have a fair go. I met plenty of great guys (team managers) that encouraged bronzies and silvers to play just as much as the gold guys. Sure in the finals, and towards the end of a round if a team was getting beaten, clans best players were sent in (because everyone wants to win to a degree, right?).

BSGCL admins keep up the great work

p.s. I voted for 2 silver/bronze first as I personally think that is a good way to start.

Looking at the results (now that I personally voted) it seems we will be going with teams opening their lineups with 2x Bronze/Silver players (ie, first two NOT Gold).

Its not the national elections so to mend fences so people don't think i'm a total inflexible d1ckhole, I actually voted for the thus-far winning option myself, because its a better idea which the three of us did not come up with.

there is SUPPOSE to be a clanless team being done. I believe we're trying to gather a group of clanless players to form them a team for BSGCL.

Hey man, like Synizta said there will be a "clanless" team. I will take all the names of people that post in this thread and are clanless and if there's enough players to make the minimum, then they will have have their own team and designate their own captain / manager from their own ranks

I checked him last night and he is Gold, also season 1 was Gold (season 1 BSGCL).

Currently the ruling is, if you're B/S/G at time of sign up, and do not go beyond Plat, you can play. That said, if its found that a player is smurfing they will be removed.

Anyone that's keen to jump on Kelvins Army team who is currently on The Clanless is welcome to, sounds like they're still looking! They are the reigning champs of Season 1 and would be a good opportunity for someone to join and get some good training at a BSG level

Clans feel free to ask around, I would love to see all the familiar faces from Season 1 have another crack at the title!

The minimum team size is 5, currently The Clanless fits that size but if someone leaves then they obviously won't. No problem though, I'm sure some more clanless people will want to jump on board and fill up the spots so don't feel bad about joining a clan, it is a Clan League after all

Hey guys, I just wanna say a big thank you to Maynarde, Synzita and Edarus for continuing the BSG CL. I was a participant in season 1 and it was awesome. Unfortunately I'm in plat now and can't play in it again.

I wish all the teams good luck and have fun. Appreciate all the admins are doing so that the community gets an awesome tournament and most importantly keep things fair, mannered and have a bloody awesome time!

I'm quickly growing to like this guy.

Don't stress! I'm sure The Clanless will have enough to qualify even if a couple guys leave to fill up other rosters

part of the the prize is a clan logo so ... I guess if you win (like you claim you will) you're going to have a logo for your team regardless. Keep in mind though; half the prize is a clan logo and the other half is eternal glory.

Please keep this thread updated with player movements so I can update the teams in the OP accordingly

At the moment the current rule is the same as the old one. If you're promoted from your league after the season commences, you still count as the particular league you signed up with, but not if you're promoted 2 leagues above.

For instance, someone signs up as a Gold

, but gets promoted to

in a new season. All good! We have you on the sign up page as a Gold

, this thread will be proof of what league everyone was on sign up. If you're promoted to Diamond

however, you can't play anymore and need to be replaced.

Same will go for the play order rule. If you're Silver

, and you are one of the guys who would normally open but are promoted to Gold

(and the team has no replacement Silver

players) then we will be lenient and allow you to open as you were Silver

on sign up. However, if you're promoted all the way Platinum

from Silver

then you can't be an opener anymore and your team needs to find a new opener to go with their other Silver

or Bronze

player.

Keep in mind that if you are promoted to Platinum

, congratulations! You can now play in Erasmus' PDCL! ... But you won't be invited to the BSGCL All Stars tournament even if you did kick ass

It seems pretty logical to me, if anyone has any thoughts or criticisms please post so we can discuss. Compliments are good too, I like compliments.

From what i remember, promotion during the season doesn't matter, as long as it's only to platinum. The only downside from it is you won't get invited to the All-stars match at the end of the season.

Okay... here is a bit of a fun fact for everyone.
My laptop is f'd. Login screen doesn't come up and i just get a blank screen on boot up.
what does this mean?... i'll have to fix the f-ing thing over the next few days and spend a three days downloading all the sc2 updates! woooo yah!
basically, I'm not going to be able to fix it straight away, but hope to have it done by the end of the week. This will probably mean missing the first week of games... I'll talk to the team if I can, I actually know half of the team IRL so i'll talk to them about talking to other players, but as an interim i think SmokyMcPot will have everyone (or most) on B.net and should be able to manage the team pretty well in my absence. QQ

Also, quick question, are teams allowed to add players during the season or is it locked once it begins?

yeah.. well that could be good..
but as is the nature of the clanless environment.. players may be poached or lose interest etc... so i wonder if the clanless team is able to bolster its numbers through out the season?..

Well they can join teams but not play for them, cos I think it'd suck if the clanless can't play games anymore cos they don't have enough people.

Well to be fair, with GENERALLY how tight the BSG community is, i doubt anyone will be low enough to stop some of the clanless guys from playing by poaching other guys in their in team to put them below the limit.

I'm currently finalizing the line up. Players CAN be added to the roster, once the season starts you are allowed to make 3 substitutions.

@DeathsFang While I did copy deL's bbcode for the conditions part of the OP from the BSGCL Season 1 thread, I wrote the code for the tables (and rules, lists, titles, etc) myself while using his as a template cause it looks sexified. It was several hours work T_T

just noticed this in the rules:
"The top 4 clans who have the most wins (and in the case of a tie, most individual games won) proceed to the finals to play preliminary finals."

4 individual wins = 1 win.. so if there is a tie they will have the same amount of individual wins.. should be least losses? best Win/Loss Ratio?... ;-)

Yes i think they mean the win/loss difference.

yo yo. so last night it was Ta up against Fade B. earlier on, TA had to scramble one more player in order for the match up to go ahead. One player by the name of "Choros" was subbed to fill in that missing spot. He is not in the list o reg players but he is confirmed in the clan according to Big TAdel. so if u admins can update that, that would be sexy

Now that every team has played their match up, sign ups and line up changes are now closed.

If you want to make a line up change it now counts as a sub, each team has three subs a season.

Clanless players jump on Chat Channel 'Clanless' through out the week for practice and line up selection/working out who can play?...

Also, can I just say - Thanks heaps to Frogmite for the cast of our games! it was nice to have the team watching also and talking between matches about plans and strats after seeing what the VB guys do.

Hey - Just a quick message to my team... some of you, I haven't heard from.. lemme know your keen to play if you want a game.. showing up on game night and expecting a game is not ganna work.
Also, Goldie I think you posted up the wrong CC cause I can't add you?.. :S

Anyway, our match this week is 9:30pm AEDT Thursday. Be there to cheer on the team and if someone from the tentative line up isn't available or a player shows sick ability vs what ever race I might need to pick someone else rather than send out to their strong match up.. .:S - so be there!

Also, not 100% confirmed yet.. it will be organised, probably tomorrow...
but there is possibly a show match on before the Team match between myself and TCP's very own Frogmite... for a bit of fun to hype up the team match up... I think he will stream (maybe Maynarde cast if he can? otherwise someone else can cast)... But it should be a bit of fun before the Team Match.... Which will either start at 9 or at the team match time of 9:30 depends on Frogmite... So get keen and come watch the stream!
