i have decided to finally going to get a new monitor to replace my 19" one. i found one that i liked but it has a ghosting problem so im basically back to square one.
what im looking for:
size: 24"
response time: 2ms
high contrast ratio (if possible)
cost: around $200 AU
i dont know too much about monitors so could really use some suggestions.
The advertised response time is total bs. Hardly any monitors don't even have less than 2ms gray to gray, most tn pannels are like 5-10 avg(gtg, gbg, wbw) Not that it makes any difference tho, people can't rly tell the difference between 5 avg response time and 15
If you have the money, go for IPS, i think dell has some cheap e-ips(low qual ips, but still way better than shitty tn)
Asus and LG has IPS panel monitors around $190-200
I bought 2 Asus VS248H was going to go for 3 but table wasn't' big enough their really good the only thing I didn't like about them was that on factory settings it was really bright so it requires abit of tweaking
Check out ASUS VS239H 23 it's an IPs panel at $195

the Asus VS248H was the one i was going to buy but i heard it has a ghosting problem which has a fix but you have to do it every time you turn the computer on.
So I always just pick the cheapest benq, LG, other known brand i can. never had a problem. Are there actually differences between monitors?? Certainly in TVs you can see the picture difference. never noticed any difference in any monitor ive ever used.

ASUS fixed the ones with the newer batches I believe I don't really see any ghosting on mine so I assume ASUS new batches are all fixed.

Mostly colour accuracy, brightness, contrast stuff. Panels are the largest factor. some smaller companies put awesome panels and take out ad-boards to cut the prices.(bypass)
It's only 22" (personally i think that's also an advantage), but 1080p LED with an IPS panel, height adjustment and good response time is about all I could ever really want (or so I think right now)
Bigger sized monitors are a downside for starcraft what your looking for is high resolution. Having a 42 inch HD TV with my computer its just not that good for playing starcraft with due the mini map being so far away from the supply. Also because it doesnt have high resolution it just doesnt hold as much information as the other screen. I really need to get a set up that so I can switch my screens around easy on the fly.
I like 24" I wouldn't go any bigger for gaming but I love 24". When I got my 24" monitor I upgraded from a 17" CRT so it was a massive change, but after 2 days I didn't even notice it anymore and now if I play on a 22 or 20 inch monitor everything feels a little crowded.

Ja it felt huge and weird when I first got mine (I think it's 24") but yeah anything smaller feels crap now...
