What began as a casual drink for gamers in a quiet bistro in Seattle in the northern spring of 2011
has grown exponentially into a craze that has united communities of gamers throughout the world.
… And now the global phenomenon known Barcraft is coming to Adelaide!
Adelaide , get ready to kick back in style - cold beer in hand - and watch the GSL semi’s and grand
finals on the big projector screen complete with surround sound. The room spills out onto the beer
garden for chilling out between games, and smokers are welcome here too. Being opposite the
famous Central Markets, the Metro’s food is great and there are snacks, full meals and desserts
available from midday until 8.30pm. Our generous hosts Damien and Brett are
enthusiastic about Barcraft and are always keen to help.
So spread the word - Barcraft is here in Adelaide, and it’s here to stay!
We have managed to source the back venue room at the Metro. The projector screen will project onto the white wall as shown in the video and a sound system will provide audio both for the inside room and the outside area (shown in smoking tab). The room will be altered to that of what is shown below as we will be making the front of the room seated with bar tables at the back of the room for standing. The toilets and bar are located ~10m from the room so nice and close.
Under 18'swill be allowed entry.
Legally you need to be accompanied by a guardian but he is happy for me to be the responsible adult to look after you. As a result you don't need to bring your parent's with you however any bullshit and you're out.
The bar you see in the video is the bar we will be utilising to purchase drinks. We are currently in negotiations with the venue as to some sort of "Happy Hour" or "Drink Specials". We will release details when finalized.
To help streamline drink purchasing given we have Under 18's there, we will most likely be requesting you show ID on entry and we will then give you a wristband alike you see at festivals. This will mean you will not need to show ID each time you purchase drinks and will also make it obvious to see who is Under 18.
(Will take a proper photo next week for a clearer and better positioned photo - this is ripped from the video)
We will be making a section of the outside area smoke friendly which will still be in sight of the projector footage. I don't think that is a luxury many barcrafter's have.
There are plenty of parking lots around the CBD but do note some of them close early in the night like 8pm and also will likely cost you a pretty penny. There are multiple bus stops just outside the Metropolitan and you can also catch the Tram to Victoria Square and walk ~500m)
We are trying to make up race markers, name tags and a meet&greet sort of thing to help break the ice.
If anybody is interested in sponsoring please contact ToRBaldie on on skype (bradley_baldwin). If we get some cash flow we can make the space look really nice or perhaps door prizes etc could be organised. Again we can cover costs ourselves but everybody loves sponsors
Name: Mox *Availability for May 10th* Probably not *Availability for May 19th* Definitely! *Any NON sc2sea friends you will be bringing* Definitely 1, maybe 2.
A huge thanks goes to Pat Galbraith from Team Liquid Forums, an Adelaide man with a passion for esports and a real talent for graphic designs, for creating these two stunning pieces of work!

Hey everybody! The first official Adelaide Barcraft is tomorrow night! Look forward to seeing as many of you out as possible! Check out the poster if you need the time and locations again.
Over the last few weeks I have been attempting to set up some sort of exclusive drink specials for us when we are there. This is still in progress and I am confident with the success of both of these events it will be a lot closer to becoming a reality.
In the mean time and regardless will be a good investment if you plan on coming to the inevitable future barcrafts, the Metro has a free membership opportunity called "Metro Mates". Becoming a Metro Mate is free and it enables you to earn points at the Metro which will eventually lead to free drinks or food as well as exclusive member drink specials. You must be 18 or over to be eligible.

Thanks to all who made it out to Barcraft tonight. We have a few changes in plan for the big day next Saturday but overall happy with how it went. It can only go up from here! Hope all the other Barcraft's across SEA went well and there are sure to be many more on Grand Finals night.
-Internet connection, 'the vehicle of esports', was well behaved
-Turnout as expected
-Starcraft 1 Terran music was played in a public bar
-No PvP grand final
-Someone bought me a beer (a feather in your cap, good sir)
Thanks for everyone's continued support. I had a blast mingling with all the groups, and met some really cool people. Everyone was very friendly - thats the Barcraft way. Chuffed.
See you all next Sat

Unfortunately I was unable to come that night due to sickness. I'm glad everyone had a great night. I will be going on the 19th though so dont be shy to say hi.
Had an awesome time at the last Barcraft! I came from work dreading the fact that I might have been the only one in a shirt, to see TheSneak also looking suave.
Sadly I won't be able to make it tonight. GL to you guys tonight, have a few beers for me, and I'm looking forward to the next Barcraft that may feature Proleague or GSL
On behalf of TheSneak, thank you so much to everybody who made it out. What an amazing first set of Barcrafts we had - shoutout to those who came to Thursday as well. We look forward to developing the event further and we might have to look into a community hall or something. Was a little bit cozy with 100 people there!
We will be looking into the feasibility of hosting Dreamhack one or both of the days and whether there is enough interest so keep a look out for that thread.
I took the time to make a blog post about it all. It's quite lengthy but if you want a read plus see some footage from the night have a look! http://www.sc2sea.com/blogs/showentry.php?e=447
