At the moment we are going to look into OZNET or ARENA, but our sponsor sublimepcgear are affeliated with PIMP PAD, which we can get extremely cheap rates. So we will consider all places. If you have a place in mind please suggest it
the SASL tried having there season 2 finals at Pimp Pad but we couldnt have it there as there internet failed before we even tried playing so we ended up going to cyber hive

My only concern with PiMP Pad is the space, or lack there of, upstairs. They have enough computers and everything just something to be weary of as there would be minimal room for spectators. I suggest going to each of the venues on your radar personally to see which work best for the style and type of LAN you are going for and to make yourselves known.

This is true. We hosted a finals on the fringe opening night and PiMP didn't have their net password protected so all the intelligent peeps out at the opening connected and overloaded the system. They have since told us the problem has been rectified and I am just as willing to look at them as a potential venue now as before - providing they show evidence of progression.
It is something to ask and ensure has been fixed however when you approach them.

thanks for the tip we have been to oz.net and arena this week to check them out and we will be heading down to pimp pad tonight
I've been to OZnet a few times, only problem is that there's lag sometimes? Not 100% sure why but me and a friend were playing 2v2s there and we got bad lag. I've also laddered there a couple of times and yeah, low graphics high textures so no computer based lag, maybe with too many people on youtube their net gets choppy but that seems odd for an internet cafe in the city to be honest >.> just something to keep in mind!
Other than that though, it's a nice venue for gaming, maybe limited in terms of room for spectators to a degree though!
I guess another consideration with PiMP was there were reports of lag as well during a test run we did there. In ZvZ baneling wars it was causing a lot of headaches.
Realistically the best way to test venues would be to go there for an hour or so and do a consistent test at a busy time to see how each venue copes.
Be interesting to see your results if you choose to do such a thing.
I would love to go to Pimp, but Arena is really nice and aslong as you don't get stuck with some of the upstairs computers it runs sc2 perfectly and i haven't experienced any lag there at all. Plus, they have had sc2 comps before so you know for sure all the computers can run sc2 with no strain on the network

Upstairs runs SC2 fine, it's just that it's really ******* hot up there sometimes, which really puts you off.
