Havent done a thread for a while, feeling quite slack actually
So I was thinking just a general out there question both on a personal basis and just out of interest since I have been thinking about this quite significantly over the last 5-7 weeks.
'How do you guys deal with Stress? Or wind down and calm yourselfs?"
I know personally on most days the stress is terrible and my body begins to shut down because I do generally overwork myself to a point ( woops) So yeah guys just wondering what you all do
I just make sure I have good time management. All my stress comes from keeping up with uni work...so making sure I have time for myself/fun stuff like casting is important. Comfort food helps also (; I like having a set couple of hours every day where I don't do anything except sit on my ass and herp derp around doing whatever. Makes me feel refreshed :3
Unfortunately I'm one of those people who gets sick from stress so there's actually nothing physically wrong with me it's all mental stuff....so having a mother that makes you chicken noodle soup and herbal teas that help with stuff and a dad that makes you bacon is good too ^^.

Acute stress, I will try to breathe deeply and slowly, maybe do something mind numbing like watching some TV, or exercise (I think exercise is best because it deals with the adrenaline, but I don't do it enough)
If it's more ongoing, like a precursor to chronic stress, I will try to make a change(s) in my life in some way (it can be simple like changing your sleep schedule, exercising more, seeing more friends, moving furniture around or getting new stuff) and if it goes on for more than a few days I would certainly see a doctor, and be very wary if it doesn't seem as bad over a long period of time - chronic stress is something you acclimate yourself to.
You had to go Russian to actually find a picture of a pack of cigarettes? :P

Alot of people today, especially in western societies do not take emotional stress seriously at all and do not know the serious effects it has on the body and mind.
Release? A lot of broken shit. Now it's more just calming myself down and maybe unleashing on my punching bag, because sponsors get angry if their stuff gets broken.
I always just go to the gym or something, go for a run, you could always just take a break and play a game or two of starcraft if you don't have the time to go out and do something
Luckily I obviously love the crap out of my job. My stress only comes from being unable to handle losing. If I'm exercising and staying fit I take my losses in stride pretty much with a smile on my face as I learn from them. If I'm unfit I turn into a raging, stressed out mess.
I guess my only other stress comes from not practicing enough, but that gets solved easily enough by you know, playing starcraft :P
When i play starcraft and i win - i ******* rage and break shit.
When i play vs a terran and lose to banshee's i ******* rage and break shit
When i play vs zerg and lose to roaches i ******* rage and break shit
When i play vs protoss and lose to 4gate i ******* rage and break shit.

I find weightlifting to heavy metal really relieves some stress. Just take it all out on the barbell.
Than also after your done you are to buggered and hopped up on hormones to give a crap =]
i internalise it, get sick and/or irrationally angry with myself and then verge into depression before realising how silly the whole episode is
bizarre sequence but it's worked (most of the time) for me
I do the same thing though instead of going into depression I tuck it away and let it sit there for several years until one day it breaks out and I kill people. Quite healthy I think.
Though really I just don't let things stress me. Worry less and enjoy more.
I think stress is a lot to do with you you manage it. If you let it become a big deal of often will, if you let is wash over you like water off a ducks back you can come out of it a lot better.
Attitude also plays a bit part in it. I tend to not get too stessed, especially when you think about others around the world far less well off than you are. And also how short life is.
People have already mentioned many ways top manage it, and turn your mind to something else, such as fitness, and entertainment, and I agree with them all as well.
Funny that someone mentioned SC2 as a release, I often find myself most stressed playing SC2!
I slap my headphones in and go for a walk.. call my mother and talk shit.. or fire up stargate sg1, stargate atlantis or generation kill and just crawl into bed :P
Actually, lately I've been browsing twitch.tv if stressed. Pretty relaxing checking out the scene other competitive games community, such as fighting game, speed runs, even chess ~!

I do Crossfit and destroy myself completely.
As I lie on the ground barely able to move.. I feel much better.
i find doing very high intensity exercise for an extended period of time helps to just make me feel better in general. obviously when you are healthier, you feel better. martial arts of fighting sports are usually very good, because if you are stressed, you get to hit something haha. but generally they are all very high in intensity which means by the time you finish, have a shower and eat something, you are just too tired to really do much so you fall asleep and wake up feeling refreshed. for example, i do boxing 2-3 times a week. when i go more often, i feel fitter and better and less stressed, but when i don't go as much i start to feel a bit sloppy and sketchy. so after that long probably useless explanation i'm just gonna say exercise
but also it depends on what other things you do. university or schooling can make get you stressed. i'd say just manage your time well and make sure you get everything done well before the due dates so you don't have to worry about it. also if you have a job that can take up a lot of your time. i know i myself can sometimes get stressed because i always want to be laddering more, but i have a job and uni etc etc so i just never have time. so manage your time well and do some exercise sorry that was a huge essay :\
When I get really stressed I go into the kitchen, get naked, cover myself in maple syrup, lie on the floor and pretend I'm a slug...

Some interesting ideas guys. Looking forward to finding a way to ease my stressful state. I mean I can work really well in a high pressure situation with stress close to a deadline but overworking has really torn me a new one
