I think what Chris was trying to say is that there's never been any mention of seeding, or that CH was keeping score on who won what, so to just whip it out at the last second and go 'oh, here's how we're seeding this event' could be seen as "foul play" based on how the brackets ended up looking (like chris was out to favour people). If people knew seeding would apply to future events, they'd try harder/practice harder etc.
