League ranking has nothing to do with promotion, and your MMR hasn't reset.

If you get promoted to plat today, you would have still been promoted today if season 5 was still going.

If that happens, congratulations! And you can always enter the GPD Opens

If you sign up when you are gold, then are promoted in the few days before the tournament (and you let us know), we're generally happy for you to still play
