Rules, Regulations and Tournament Eligibility

Tournament Eligibility:
You must be in the Bronze, Silver or Gold league (1v1 - SEA license) and you must be active on ladder.
Everyone will be checked for typical smurf activity designed to keep them in a lower league.

• You must contact your opponent on Battle.net preferably by being in chat channel "sc2seaBSG" to play your match
• You have ~15 minutes to start your Round 1 match; anybody that is not contactable after 10 minutes will be disqualified. This 10 minute timeout rule applies throughout the tournament.
• Tournament admins or official streamers are always allowed and the only ones to observe your game
• There is no switching of race during the tournament.
• Problems/Questions: When in doubt about anything, contact an admin
• Reporting Results: After the match has been played, you must report the result by pm to an admin
• Disconnects: If a player disconnects, the game must be replayed. If a player disconnects for a second time, his opponent will be awarded a free-win. A win may also be awarded if the player that disconnected was significantly behind at the time of disconnection. Contact an admin if you would like your game/replay reviewed.
• Pauses: You must notify your opponent in game if you wish to pause. This pause should not exceed 5 minutes. Excessive pausing in game may lead to disqualification.
• Bad Manner will not be tolerated. Anyone caught BMing will be warned. Further offenses will lead to disqualification. Any racist, hateful or excessively derogatory language may lead to removal without warning. We are a friendly group and I'd like to see it stay that way.
• Replays: Should be saved at least until the following tournament. Anyone asked by admins to provide a replay who cannot do so will be disqualified.

Quarter Finals bo3 on MLG Metalopolis
Semi Finals bo3 on MLG Tal'Darim Altar
Grand Final bo5 on MLG Xel'Naga Caverns
For finals rounds that are best of 3 or 5, loser of previous game may pick any map from GSL or MLG as per the following list

And that statement just sounds like a 'No Portrait Farmers allowed' kinda thing, doesn't include those who use a friend's account, etc.

imo AsylumofSouls was the perfect guy to bring the BSGs back! He has been running the Z33k.com BSGs regularly and doing a great job. Props to Asrathiel for helping him too! Hope you guys give them your support so the BSG players who were looking for their weekly BSG fix now have a well run regular competition to play in!

Also looking forward to breadfan's casting!

I've been using the line used in this post for a few weeks now.
I was previously finding that more than actual smurfs, the biggest problem was people complaining that their opponent was smurfing.

Since I've made it clear that everyone is checked before and during the tournament (which they are) there haven't been anywhere near as many complaints and we haven't had a smurf even try and enter since mid December. I think that smurfers now know they will be shamed and banned quickly especially with the help of the regular players that know what they're looking for in a smurf player's account.

And I feel the competitors are much more comfortable being beaten by a better opponent on the night knowing that Asrathiel and I are quite practiced at removing the ineligible players.

I havent signed up for a tournament here via the sc2sea system before, besdies the reporting via PM, how different is the rest of the process?

do we need to check in still?
Will the brackets be shown on that page?

I can see you've joined it fine ^_^ We'll let you know who to report your results to (me or Suipr) and we'll update the brackets.

I'm pretty sure there's no check in, you just have to be in the channel...

Basically nothing will change, except people who didn't check-in and were taken out of the tournament are left in, so more w/o's in the first round will occur.

I signed up. ^^ I was demoted to Silver at the start of this season, but that was because I played random for 20+ games in a row and lost more than usual. I was also never higher than gold so I am still fine. :P

Please acknowledge artanis, who was the one who began the weekly z33k BSGs. He is now no longer part of the StarCraft community because of an incident where his account got banned for allegedly using third-party software (which wasn't true). I believe he deserves some credit because it was him who ran them for many months before AsylumOfSouls picked up.

With that said, AsylumOfSouls has done a great job of organizing this event! Glad to see that the BSGs are back.

I agree with thanks that should be given to Antarnis for the two tournaments he ran on z33k before his unfortunate ban. If not for his tournaments, I would most likely never have gotten into the z33k tournament scene and continued his series resulting in where we are today.

As long as you join before we're doing the brackets (which will be right before it starts) it's all good. Rocking up to join 5 mins before the start time etc might be cutting it a bit fine though

Unfortunately, I can't cast this week!

Of all the weekends, my girlfriend's birthday had to fall on the first time the BSG comes back to sc2sea. Was really looking forward to casting this, but I'll have to ask someone else to take over for me - AsylumofSouls may have someone in mind.

Sincerest apologies though, I really hope I get the chance to cast this event in the future though! It's one I hold dear
