[Tutorial] Benji's Guide to Installing RAM

Kingston sent me some RAM to do a review on (Coming soon) and whilst installing it I thought i'd record it, and maybe teach some sc2 gamers out there how to do it. Quite alot of gamers don't really understand how to do something like this, and because you guys use your computers alot, its good to learn as much about it as you can. Installing RAM is the easiest thing to learn, and is a good place to start, and its also the easiest and one of the cheapest ways to upgrade your computer. ^_^

If you already know how, feel free to perv on my computer :P

Hope it helps some people ^_^

Nooo dont unplug your computer! ... Turn it off at the switch (so unpowered) but you still want the earth connected so you can earth yourself. You may want to move it to another location with out carpet. Static electricity is not your friend. As you mention at the end of the video you want to make sure you put one hand on your computer case before you touch your ram and if able keep yourself in skin contact with the case of your computer. If your computer is unplugged from the wall it does nothing.

True, I said to unplug it to ensure there's no power running through the computer as you're inside of it. There are plenty of ways to ground yourself, as long as you discharge yourself and aren't sliding around on carpet, you should be fine.

There is a switch on the back of all power supply to turn them off. If leave your power point switched on not sure about other places in SEA but I know some places dont have switches on their power sockets. It is also the funniest reason to need tech support not turning it back on after your done.

Much love Benji... gave me the motivation to at least go and buy some air and clean my computer for the first time in a couple of years.

Dam that dust sure accumulates quick.

Nice vid, tempted to upgrade my ram for the sake of updating it.
I'd assume you'd have to go into the BIOS and change the frequency if your previous ram as a different frequency to your new ram?

not necessarily. your new ram should be detected by your system automatically so you dont need to mess around with anything in the bios.
