So basically, they claim that as long as u reach a certain amount of points with at least 60% win rate(12/20), u are on the track for promotion once season unlocks!
Opinions?
I personally think this only works for Silver-Master.
Yeah, the table says 1280 point to NEAR grandmaster and getting that many points you will need a higher win rate than 60%
This makes sense, I was looking through may last seasons league (diamond), and rank 6 and above got promoted to masters, and everyone below that rank/(that guys points) stayed in diamond.
At roughly 750 pts masters now.. But its reached the point where its really hard to keep 60 percent win/loss ratio because it mostly always up against really good players in GM :s hopefully can reach that number and get intto GM eventually:P

If onl that was true then both of my accounts would have been in masters.. During season 3 both my accounts were in the top 3 of their divisions and in the top 25 for the whole diamond league according to sc2ranks but due to uni I was not able to play constantly during the lock thus still didn't get into masters... I guess I'll b forever diamond..
Yeah, this doesn't actually explain anything we didnt already know, which is, your league placement is decided entirely off your MMR. And obviously if you are high points in your division with a winning win-rate for the season, you're mmr is going to be high enough to get promoted into the next division next season.
It's still entirely possible to get promoted without reaching these cutoffs (and possible to reach these cutoffs and not get promoted, as they say in their post), MMR doesn't degrade at all over time and you can get promoted to the next division as soon as your mmr is high enough, if you win 15 straight games leading into a season when your mmr started at mid-diamond, i guarantee next season you'll be placed in masters even if you only had like 400 points.
In fact if you're in low bronze and you're MMR is really low and stable, you can have a huge win streak without being promoted.
The Bronze league is deep. At the bottom there were the "traders" that trade auto-wins and auto-loss to farm portraits. Don't know if that still exist since Blizzard said it was now forbidden. Their MMR is so low and so stable that when they want to league up again, it could take them some time.
Just to note, as said, this isn't the only way to get promoted;
I just got promoted to Platinum "mid" season at around 450 points.
I'll assume this article is aimed only for going between season promotions. Supposing that it takes into account the number of points gained from X games with a certain number of wins spending all bonus pool and such.
Anyway as a side note some masters player left after 30 seconds versus me for my last win, which kind of made it feel less like an accomplishment, though I understand it's not much of one.
Just win an even amount against those in the next league would surely be enough, though in SEA it seems that's going to vary a bit more due to player base. It's still good enough however.
Just started played on Korea with a brand new account.
After placements ended up in platinum. Played 5 games and got promoted to diamond, which i felt was relatively fast - maybe its because its a new account and the MMR isnt stable. Currently on 15 total games and getting matched up with masters for the last 10 games so i guess i should get promoted to masters soon. I believe i lost 4 games already since hitting diamond. Yea losing to masters in korea is not so bad i guess haha.

Lucky.
I bombed my placements to be cute/drunk (don't ask). 100 wins later I'm still in plat. ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ
Yeah, evidently it's based off MMR which changes relative to your win/loss ratio against various ranks of opponents.
All I do is just look at what percentage of the people I'm matched against are the league above and when I'm winning most of those games I expect a promotion soon. 'Sall there is to it for me.
