I went yesterday and I was super disappointed by the WCG booth...the only place to watch the matches was a metre behind the players which was annoying for those watching as well as those trying to get past. There was a whole section in the middle with a nice place for a screen and those bean bag things that was just wasted, they could have had a screen there for an observer or even just one of the player screens and it would've been great. Last night the only WCG to get onto the stage was FIFA 11...really disappointed, if they weren't going to do anything with it what was the point of having the finals at the expo?

At least seeing all of SEA's best was cool, wish I brought a pen for signatures

Dox, TLS didn't ask me to come, and when I offered Chris said they didn't want me to go... Probably for financial reasons but still sucks for me. I put in a lot of effort over a few months and I don't get to go to the finals

Great weekend all round, amazing vibe from the whole area and all the players are just ******* amazing (Iaguz explaining what creep is to my girlfriend). It was great when we finally got a screen so people could actually watch the matches... even though no one else was allowed in at that point. All in all the weekend was worth the pain in my legs from standing.

Btw it was great to meet the players, who were all super friendly and approachable. Big props to Dox for running a smooth tournament in what appeared to be trying conditions (that tablet was a brilliant idea btw).

We've seen him online and he is nothing but polite. In person he's a 6 ft tall bloke from Queensland, don't say too much but he's always smiling and cheerful despite what comes his way.

So afterwards we're at Dox's apartment with some liquor and pizza courtesy of Sir Superman himself ("I'm shouting". Brave words to utter within earshot of YoonYJ) and Rossi is the first to find a toilet, and I ain't talking about taking a piss. Diddy is from Queensland and pretty much spent his first 9 months in the womb sipping lager from the umbilical direct and he sees Rossi's intestinal fortitude as a sign of much weakness. 4 quickfire vodka shots and 2 fast beers later and it's arm wrestle time. They clear out some bottles (table was quite cluttered by this point!) and get their arms locked.

Brady. Brady Bowcock. Brady Motherfucking Bowcock and balls.

This prick just sits there with rossi straining as hard as he can to move him. He looks at me and asks "have we started yet?" with the most casual nonchalance I've seen from someone with that much in him. After letting Rossi embarrass himself for long enough he slams the poor Italian's wrist down and spends the rest of the night raggin on Rossi. For basically no reason.

At about 2:50 am when we had to get on the bus to the airport all the SC2 players got the back 6 rows or so. Jim is sitting in the middle of the backseat calling out all the Counterstrike players as "******* retarded" "like the fat dude from that WoW episode of South park" "they're all pissweak".

Now if you've not met an FPS team before, the image of the high school jock becomes them perfectly. Hats on backwards, words like bro uttered without irony, all that bad stuff, and they take offense to basically anything. Just earlier two of them almost came to blows after a regame got called after a power disconnect during the finals (we had a few of these and just laughed it off and regamed, despite being incredibly ******* frustrating). So when a very drunk and boorish Jimdiddy is sitting back calling about 20 or so very angry people out, one cannot help but find it extremely fortunate that jim had to stay on the bus after everyone got off to go catch flights.

I am fairly certain he was getting bashed the second he got off.

The way iaguz's post reads you cant help but think he's giving a bit of an exaggeration... But that's actually really, really accurate, down to correct quotes.

It even got to the point where one of the cs players stood in the middle of the isle, takes off his shirt and starts giving the vintage "COME UP HERE AND SAY IT MATE"... to which Brady casually stands up (after calling them retarded counter-strike players and mimiccing there ******* anoying "SEE-YA LATER MATE" calls we heard all. *******. day.) and starts strolling towards the 5 or 6 people that are all looking like they're about to kill him with their autistic fists, confident that his "zealot in a choke vs zerglings" strategy of fighting in the bus isle was going to pay off...

Luckily yoon was pretty friendly with the counter-strike guys and, as iaguz said, brady was going back to his place in brisbane and not getting out at the airport, or this story might've gone from hilarious, to holy shit one of the more mannered sc2 players in aus got the living shit kicked out of him by cs players :P.

I've played 1.6 in the lan scene, the stupid yelling at each other and just the general faggotry of the scene is disgusting. What's seen as so BM you'd get absolutely shunned from our community is completely common place in your average counter-strike scrim... Anything from ridiculously personal attacks to blatant racism are completely standard.

Don't get me wrong, i get trying to fire up your team by being really loud and that kind of thing and i loved that side of it, but the taunting/bullshitting to the other team doing nothing but trying to piss each other off till you get one stupid kid trying to walk over and fight another kid is where it gets pretty spastic.

One thing I always found amusing about the CS scene is how anyone who plays the game automatically inherits a wog accent. Even if you're like 100% pure Australian or Asian. ESPECIALLY in Sydney.

I guess the 1.6 guys are just boneheads

You don't have to generalize every CS:S/1.6 player just by the 4 teams you saw at WCG.
I could generalise the whole SC2 community as being stuck up idiots by watching idra.

There are idra's and there are white-ra's - Same goes for every game.
There are just more "idra's" in FPS unfortunately

You do have to remember that FPS is all about adrenalin, hence yelling n crap. It's just part of the scene.
If you don't get 'fired up' you aint gonna do much really :P

But I'm defending a lost cause.

I just wanted to jump on here and say an huge thanks to Dox! he is truely the one who has made WCG AU for SC2 possible, he has helped me every single tournament this year, and has always looked out for you all! Even when i thought doing DE BO3 over two days with only 4 computers wasn't going to be possible, Dox showed me that it was possible!

I apologise for not getting streams up, however due to the limitations of the venue, the internet and the setup it wasn't possible this year, i hope everyone at least enjoyed the stream with no commentary Dox got up on the Sunday!

A huge shoutout to Dox for all his amazing work this year with the SC2 scene inside Australia!
