[Review] Cheapo headset

Yo community!

Its that time of the year, the end of financial year sales! And although sc2 hasn't come down in price (with direct correlation to its awesomeness...really it should've been going up in price!), other gaming peripherals have come crashing down!

I'm looking for a headset and just wondering what ppl think? I'm stingy at the best of times and being married and all, gamin budgets stay low hehe.

EB are currently selling:
Plantronics 355 - $25
Plantronics 367 - $40
Plantronics 777 - $75
Turtle Beach Z1 - $30
Turtle Beach Z2 - $60

Any thoughts on which one I should get? or any others I can find online?

Also, hopefully this will help others if their trying to upgrade from a similar $5 headset that I use :P

To be honest I don't know any of those products but you say your using a cheap paid of headphones now, and you want to upgrade - if you buy another cheap pair you'll probably want to upgrade again in the near future. Mind you all the ones you listed is surely better than a $5 pair. I just think if you want a decent pair that will last maybe fork out a few more dollars as opposed to getting a cheap pair and either a) them breaking or b) not liking them and wanting another upgrade in the near future.

I use the Plantronics 777 and i have to biased it's a great headset. Although probably not as good as like the Banshee or whatever headsets don't matter too much in Starcraft 2 because all it does it let you hear the epic game sounds. If you play something like Call of Duty then you should make a more thorough search for your preferred headset.

Ah thanks mate! Yah for me I'm mainly playing RTS games so surround sound is not really a big issue for me...i don't think :S Mainly its more about having comfort so i can actually play for more than an hour without my ears bleeding! Do you play for hours on end? Suppositively 777 not good for people with big heads! :S

Thanks for the tips! Actually I got a mate who's looking for a headset too, so we're both gonna buy two types...we'll see who ends up getting the dull deal!

OH side: sorry if I'm not supposed to post prices and indirect advertising for stuff...obviously I'm one of the many who doesn't read T&C as often as they should!

I use the Sennheiser HD201's. They are excellent in quality + comfort and go for about ~$45

If your not looking at play much/ any FPS games then i wouldn't really even bother investing into one. I play the occasional FPS so for me it's worth it. As to comfort for the first hour it's great but then it feels like someone whacked the sides of your head with a sledgehammer, it is so harsh on big heads.

I got a pair of Logitech G330's from MSY for about 30 bucks. The mic quality is brilliant and clear as crystal. The speaker quality is good enough, not the best and not noise cancelling or anything fancy. They're super comfortable, wrap around the back of the head (which is tough when you have long hair) but I rate them very highly.
