The series is open to everyone, and played on Legacy of the Void Beta.
Starting at 12pm EDT Thursdays (Thursday Midnight SG + WA time, Friday 3am AEDT timezone)

The format is Single Elim Bo3 for all rounds except the finals which are bo5

Prizepool:

1st $75 + 80 OSC points
2nd $25 + 50 OSC points
3rd + 4th 20 OSC points each
5-8th 5 OSC points each
9-16th 2.5 OSC points each

$'s are in CAD ($105AUD)

SEA players gain 5 bonus SEA Participation points, which counts towards $700 and lan sponsorship.
Plus there are SEA $ Bounties

Late start for some players (East AU), but it's at a playable time for our SEA + Chinese warriors (and West AU), or it could be worth setting an alarm for our dedicated NZ friends to gain those important OSC points which represent your ranking in our $50000 league, and qualification towards the $5000+ finals! Top 32 will be paid $. It also enables our NA playerbase another tournament to earn points in, and allows new players from EU to participate in the OSC league.

We are excited to build on our partnership with ASL, who have already brought us ASL Season 5 Challenger + Prime leagues this year. Many of you may know Bacon Infinity from casting numerous sc2 events, or showmatches they have organised. Now that they are moving into hosting a weekly tournament, we are happy to work with them, alongside ASL to allow players from all around the world to gain access to OSC points and our rankings, as well as sharing networking and promotion of events to give more opportunities to starcraft players and fans.

Oseanic StarCraft 2 Championship Series

The Oseanic StarCraft 2 Championship Series (OSC) is the Oceanic, South East Asian, North American and Chinese regional championship, which follows a yearly season format, where players earn points for placing in all partnered tournaments.

The top 32 players ranked via the OSC Player Leader board at the end of the season are then invited to play in the 2 day minimum $5000+ Grand Finale to determine the yearly champion! OSC World Rankings were established in December 2012.

In 2014 OSC partnered tournaments gave away $29691 combined prizepool, ($ bounties, Terran Bonus initiative, Invitationals, and LAN events were not included in this!), ran 155 completed partnered tournaments (up from 77 last year, which equates to 100% growth), and saw 358 individual players with points earned (up from 138 in 2013 = 159% growth)

GuMiho was 2014's Champion, taking out the $3500 finals series.
PiG was 2013's Champion, taking out the $2100 finals series.

As mentioned earlier it may not be the best time for everyone, but what is? It's a big world!
It will be hard for Oceanic players, and while they are a core component of our league, we also include other regions, who deserve opportunities to participate.
The option is available to any Oceanic who wants to play. Good for those who may have Fridays off, or late starts. Fridays is often a good day for uni students as another example.
It's not so bad for SEA players.

I'll try and play in these when free. Hope to see others do so too

I am a bit confused, the thread on TL says every Tuesday at 11am PDT which is apparently 5am Wednesday morning, is this correct?

Are they finally switching to Lotv from the next tournament?

A tournament of this size would likely only go 4 hours. If you play the whole thing, it would still give a few hours sleep before a '9-5'/school hours lifestyle. I'd say a lot of gamers, especially those who are semi serious about their starcraft, wouldn't say midnight is that late to play a few rounds (1-2 hours), and any longer would be a fantastic result worth staying up for.

There are tournaments run early mornings. There are tournaments run late.
Great for those who are free to play at this time/make the effort. For those who can't, there are other opportunities, both existing, and new in the future.

It's another option for SEA players, but this tournaments primary goal isn't to cater to SEA exclusively, rather give NA players (Another OSEANIC region), and other eligible players a chance at OSC points, as they have less tournaments to select from compared to SEA. Another way to grow the league, it's prestige, and in turn, what we can do for SEA in the future.

Posts like this are always disappointing Especially from someone like yourself who has the most to gain from what we are trying to achieve.

To grow the league, we have to have tournaments accessible to more players. This leads to more tournaments, more global reach in players/audience/sponsors, which in turn we can use to build on our existing tournaments, yearly prizepools, and bonuses for players.

Having a good mix of top NA, EU, KR stars, included with many of our own, adds to the prestige, and takes away from that stigma of 'just another SEA tournament', or 'i've never heard of those guys before/just another SEA player'. But if you have players like Blysk, EnDerr, Azure, ranked highly amognst a HuK, Solar, Snute, etc, it carriers more weight, and is more impressive.

Furthermore, if say Blysk was rank 5, maintaining that throughout the year, and qualifies for finals (with that seed should place well), it's something he can take back to his team. Great rank in a $50000+ global league, featuring many of those other regions top tier talent, it's quite impressive. One would think he could make a strong case for additional support from his team, whether it be $'s or travel assistance. His team in turn could take such a strong result back to their sponsors, and in turn try for additional support.

And this year we've had a few bumps along the way, with lotv beta release making some tournaments ineligible earlier in the year. Plus i was away for 3 months/25% of the year, which is significant manpower away from the OSC team. However, despite this we are still going to hit that $45-50k total, with big finals. Imagine what we can do next year.

Plus SEA players get good bonus and other rewards for participation, bounties, SEA only tournaments, etc. There is still a 'home team' advantage, as we want to ensure we still support our core playerbase, and see players reap the rewards of increased prizepools, and prestige attached to a more competitive league.

You mean the ANZ server through NA?
Only information i have at this stage is NA server. Unsure about preferred game server.

Hey everyone. ASL-Bacon #8 will be rescheduled to next Thursday because of the conflict with DreamHack and American Thanksgiving. Hope to see you all when we resume on December 3rd!
