The questions and format were extraordinarily wooden and jarring.

There's no value to interviewing someone over skype and in a "live video" setting if you're just going to read pre-written questions from a script. You may as well do it as a purely written exercise.

You've chosen video as the medium. Have a living, breathing, organic conversation and see where the interview takes you. Go in with a few notes, some areas you'd like to discuss, and see where it takes you.
