+ [ Rules, Regulations and Tournament Eligibility] +

Tournament Eligibility:
  • You must be legitimately in the Bronze, Silver or Gold league (1v1 - SEA license) and you must be active on ladder.
  • For those who were PLATINUM or DIAMOND last season and are now placed in BRONZE, SILVER or GOLD, you are not allowed to participate for the next TWO to THREE weeks and are required to ladder VERY ACTIVELY. And by VERY ACTIVELY, I mean 30 THIRTY games per week (this is a standard set after some discussion with some prominent members of the community. Problem? Then it's only you who has a problem). In TWO to THREE weeks, you are required to have a MINIMUM of SIXTY games played LEGITIMATELY for consideration to play. CONSIDERATION. Playing is NOT GUARANTEED.
  • Winners of back to back BSG Opens are respectfully asked to not participate.
  • Everyone will be checked for typical smurf activity designed to keep them in a lower league.
  • Anyone found to be smurfing will be added to the BSG Hall of Shame so everyone can be aware of their shameful acts.

Battle.net group: "sc2seaBSG"

Rules
  • You must contact your opponent on Battle.net preferably by being in chat channel "sc2seaBSG" to play your match
  • You have ~15 minutes to start your Round 1 match; anybody that is not contactable after 10 minutes will be disqualified. This 10 minute timeout rule applies throughout the tournament.
  • You must play your main 1v1 ladder race throughout tournament.
  • Observers: Tournament admins or official streamers are always allowed and the only ones to observe your game
  • Problems/Questions: When in doubt about anything, contact an admin
  • Reporting Results: After the match has been played, you must report the result by pm to an admin
  • Disconnects: If a player disconnects, use the 'Resume from Replay' feature to continue the game. If the player has gone offline completely, inform an admin and wait 10 minutes for them to return.
  • Pauses: You must notify your opponent in game if you wish to pause. This pause should not exceed 5 minutes. Excessive pausing in game may lead to disqualification.
  • Bad Manner will not be tolerated. Anyone caught BMing will be warned. Further offenses will lead to disqualification. Any racist, hateful or excessively derogatory language may lead to removal without warning. We are a friendly group and we'd like to see it stay that way.
  • Replays: Should be saved at least until the following tournament. Anyone asked by admins to provide a replay who cannot do so will be disqualified.
  • Anyone suspected of smurfing (playing another person's account, manipulating ladder to be in a lower league) will be thoroughly investigated and if found guilty, prizes will be stripped and they will be reported to Blizzard and added to the Hall of Shame.
  • RANDOM players are not allowed to race pick unless an Admin has been informed a WEEK before for SELECTED matchups.

EXAMPLE 1 - Player A vs Player B - Player A did not inform an Admin and race picks. DISQUALIFIED
EXAMPLE 2 - Player A vs Player B - Player A informed an Admin and race picks. PLAY ON

If you ladder a specific race but because of Unranked 1v1s and Ranked/Unranked Teams you are now placed as RANDOM, inform an Admin at once. Having you sc2sea account filled with the correct information will make this process easier..

So this "Wardi guy"...
Unknown, Silver, 3 time Platinum on SEA, and cleared to play.

May I direct you to a few things;
Wardi SEA - Open
Wardi NA - Open

"Pft, whatever SouL, he's not the same one!"

Well, what are the odds they play at about the same APM, they both play , they both have the same PvT opening and both have the EXACT SAME hotkey setup?

Download the replay of SEA Wardi's TvP here - Open
Download the replay of NA Wardi's TvP here - Open

Unless my computer lies to me, these games weren't even too far apart either.

I'm sick and tired of my players and players of other clans coming to me and telling me stories of the "BSG Open = Bronze Smurf Gold Open", admins do their best (their very best!) to deal with this shit, but some filters through, and after one my own strongest players was knocked out by some no name, I felt that this is not how the BSG community should be treated, there are less and less entrants because of this issue, I beg you admins, please look at the evidence I have assembled.

I mean, true Suipr beat him in the end, but that doesn't mean anything other than Suipr is a big unit.

Ban this little shit from this community, and may this serve as a warning to any Platinum or higher level players entering this in the future! You will be found!

The one with 1.0 is the replay taken from SEA. It is compared with his games taken from SC2Ranks, from the most recent I can draw. The earliest games were from September, all the way to October. I'd like to draw your attention to 2 things.

1. There is a game with 0.99 similarity. It's either a TvZ or TvP but we can't assume which is it. Either way, ggtracker shows a spending quotient of level for his TvZ but a level for his TvP. But that can be because it was a 49 minute game, so resources would definitely be floating left and right. I believe this game would be the TvZ between RaymondFish as Bel'Shir Vestige has only 2 replays on it. That's maybe enough to conclude that the AM Wardi is the same as the SEA Wardi.

2. While his other games do not have a very strong similarity (>0.96 is needed to really confirm that they are the same person), at level you probably do not have a very solid muscle memory developed already. This software tracks the spamming pattern (For me at the start of the game it's always 13561356135613561356135613561356135613561356) throughout the game, not really on openings and stuff. Much of like tracing the fingerprint of the guy. So, throughout these 3 months of play he would already have developed something different along the way. 0.84 may not be too far off from confirming that this guy is the guy we're looking for.

I'll let the admins decide on this, this is the best of tracking that I can do.

The BSG has started to slide in general, casters won't even do them anymore.

I've tried to multiple times ding people for being questionable or higher then BSG....I won't stop doing this and hoping some of the complaints start to be taken more seriously then before the game starts.

:/ We did have the BSG casted this time :c
And I do believe it or not actually make an effort to look into these, last BSG I did find out one of the players was a smurf, although unfortunately not early on enough for it to make a difference.

My few cents: I don't know/care if Wardi is Platinum or not on NA, I'm not going to spend time finding that out when others are doing it.

But for what it's worth after casting Wardi through all of BSG last night with Seffy/Kumo I can kind of see the level he plays at. He's certainly not at a Platinum level (his negative win/loss on NA actually supports this theory - if it is him) He just knows a few build orders for each matchup and can execute them decently well. An example of this was the series against Suipr, he knew a blue flame hellion build and used it rather nicely - albeit it was slow but the end result was still the same BBQ. He is very bad at making SCVs and gets supply blocked heavily. I suspect that he's only where he is on NA because he has a grounded build order in front of him with step-by-step instructions. Not because he's actually Platinum level mechanically, and I'd wager not even in the safe Platinum level for MMR, he's fast but speed doesn't mean much when you don't do anything with it.

To Soul, your motives are because Harreh got knocked out by him, which is fair enough but I wonder if you'd have raised this if you weren't somewhat sour of the outcome. Harreh is silver and the TvT series between the two went for over 80 minutes in total. They were evenly matched completely. If Wardi was truly 2 leagues above Harreh then would it not have been a whitewash? Harreh had many opportunities to win the series and in the game he actually won he was so passive/indecisive to the point where he almost let Wardi back into the game, despite a 100 supply difference.

In the end, I have no stake in whether or not he was a smurf and if he gets banned as a consequence. He provided entertaining games and not to nitpick, but the rules do not mention NA license so either they need to be fixed or you have to take Wardi's current ladder rank on SEA which is silver after 23 games played and was also Silver last season.

Quick Comments
 syfRize:
I've raised these sort of questions with unknowns on other occasions as well.

As one of the more senior admins, I feel like this is my fault. I had received confirmation from the other admins that they would be available to staff this week's tourney and I went ahead to my uni event without a second thought.

Upon hearing that there was another smurfing incident and this time around one with 'substantial' discussion. We haven't had one of these in a bit. Mostly calls for players to be looked at or at the very least have an eye kept on them.

Let me just say that I take every report of smurfing or cheating very seriously. I cannot do much as all I have is match histories, ladder records, my limited SCII knowledge and if I knew how to use all these fancy gizmos and what nots (eg. sc2rank, ggtacker, etc). Please understand, however, that does not mean I do not try to find out the truth.

And whether it is proven to be true or false, it is even harder to make the right call. Cause in the end, I will be pissing someone off. I do not have the icy steel of Asrath or the fiery conviction of Suipr. I view my role as an admin to organise and run this tourney to the best of its capabilities and make sure everyone has at least a good time. And that means trying to keep the number of pissed people to a minimum.

I am assuming it was a remark made to you during the BSG. And I believe that it is the wrong response in any given situation. I am truly sorry I was not available this week else I would have looked into this incident. In fact, this matter was not brought to my attention till I checked the thread just now.

In retrospect, I have noticed the BSG has begun to decline in its state. With the absence of a regular streamer as well as the shrinking pool of players of every week, I believe I have failed to hold my end when I had accepted the responsibility of being one of the admins for the BSG Weekly. It has especially been difficult since uni has restarted and I, despite being a repeat student who should be ashamed that i got retained, am given a second chance in a lot of things. To all, I apologise.

Hopefully, within the next week or so, some life would be breathed back into the BSGs. Seeing as the new season has started/is about to start, I can foresee some new rules as well as stricter enforcement.

I would agree with Matt.

Even during the days of WOL, it was common knowledge that someone on SEA would get on NA first. So a low on NA would be equivalent to a mid-high on SEA. This however usually settles by and isn't true for KR where a on SEA seldom means even a on KR. And his negative win rate demonstrates he is either close to demotion or if a low on NA. This should suggest he is on SEA.

Even in WOL, a on SEA could get a on NA. However I think u should be alarmed if someone who is on KR or or top 8 on NA as BSG.

If there are further doubts, then look at replays instead but there is no clear cut answers to this.

Panda and I have spoken about this, and after a few other BSG Admins read our conversation (it was recently, I presume they were asleep a couple hours ago so they didn't get to), we may possibly be implementing a few new rules that I personally feel are fairly decent and will be a step towards resolving cases such as this, in future.

When I was admin here we're numerous cases of people complaining about platinum players on NA server and this is why the rules were made to specify activity on SEA server. We made it clear NA server wasn't relevant.
As long as you were active on SEA and genuinely placed in BSG, you were good to go.
As a side note, I was concerned on Saturday night after a grand final match I played and watched the replay before continuing the series with my admin crown on. Was happy to continue the series. Lay off Wardi, his profile is genuine SEA BSG. I hope to meet him in the final again next Saturday.
My two cents.

Suipr, the thing is, I think we've sort of slacked off on specifying SEA activity. Wardi had 30 matches played ALL of Season 5 and 4.. 4 months essentially. I realize he's BSG, and they have slightly lower play requirement expectations than plat/dia, but I think seven games a month still counts as a bit too few to be counted active on a server. I'll make the habit of getting there five minutes earlier and will make sure to enforce SEA activity henceforth, so a player with 20 games at the very end of a season shows up, we'll have to crack down and prevent it.
I realize this may prevent some actual players from playing, but it'll also get rid of the mentality, "Oh, I'll just go on SEA server, lose five placements, and then play a couple games and steamroll everyone in the BSG"
