Is it too late to sign up? If it isn't I would like to join. Ghostuz.530. I think I'm like silver on the SEA server but I'm masters on my NA account (that's where I play all the time).
Oh thank God this isn't until Sunday. I wanted to make sure I got all of the logos uploaded for you guys but I am practically in tears from being so tired from Dreamhack and GSTL stuff. I will do my best to make sure GameHeart is ready to go for you guys on Sunday.
Sorry chris... not gonna be able to go in the morning and play. I'll still come by in the afternoon and go to kr bbq though. Stupid life getting in the way of things.
Hey guys, I am really sorry but I don't think I am going to be able to get your logo into the overlay in time for your event. I am having a lot of problems with the editor right now. GameHeart will still be available with a lot of the Australian team logos but the event logo won't be. Sorry about this...
I recently attended the MSI tournament at City Hunter Chinatown. It was a very casual tournament, probably too casual in my opinon. Games were slow and unorganised. The MSI laptops which were used and the whole tournament was structured around promoting, were full of issues, lag and other operating issues. Even the usually calm under pressure PiG threw his head set at the laptop in an Idra-esk fit of anger (justifiably) as lag was causing major issues in the series against ninja and then the start of the series against iaguz. PiG finally relocated to another area. Although this older computer had no lag issues, both iaguz and PiG had to deal with loud obnoxious and lets call them "lads" yelling at their games (LoL) so overall very unprofessional and badly run event, with very poor exposure for msi in general. Not sure why this event or any events like it have no focus on getting a live spectator crowd in, especially when MSI wanted to auction off the laptops after the finals. The games themselves were pretty good with PiG and iaguz being the highlight series of the night. Casting was pretty poor in production and tgun looked out of place as a caster. I know this is quite a negative take on the whole thing and feel free to take issue, as there may have been some more positive aspects i missed but i felt it was necessary to make this small post so maybe people will do more to promote the smaller tournaments. As making these smaller tournaments more successful are a big way forward in Australian sc2 scene.
This should be moved to blogs and from this I can tell you are a PiG fanboy but...
1. PiG was asked if it was a hardware problem, he told both MSi and CityHunter it was an internet issue
2. Delays were caused by players, Chris from CityHunter was actually trying to keep things on schedule. If you have ever had any organising experience for these type of events you know that players switching computers then playing several ladder games or leaving for lunch etc is going to cause delays. Please do not call this an unprofessionally run or bad event because you clearly have no idea about running an event.
3. The LoL players were loud. Dude, its an internet cafe.. You realise players deal with the same thing at ACL etc with CoD kids screaming? This is just another part of being at a live event. If a player can't handle it or uses it as an excuse, perhaps they should turn up on time to get a seat away from the LoL section like the majority of the other competitors.
4. While I agree there was no designated "spectator" area, the auction went well so I don't know why that was brought into it? The problem mainly is space. CityHunter doesn't have wall space for a projector where seats/couches could be organised. However, for the number of true "spectators" present, I don't feel this was as bigger issue as you are making it out to be.
Please when you give feedback take note of the following:
- Post in appropriate forum section OR contact the organisers with your concerns
- Structure your post, a wall of text just makes you look bad (sorry but it is true)
- Remove bias of one player from your post or ASK THE PLAYER TO POST the organisers and MSi were told explicitly by the player you are mentioning that their hardware was not at fault. You clearly have bad information please learn to research.
