This interview was conducted at the start of day one of WCG 2012 in Kunshan, China. It was conducted by me asking the questions in English to the English-Chinese translator and then relayed to the Chinese-Korean translator and then to Moon (and vice-versa). I hope there hasn’t been anything lost in translation and I apologise if there are. The answers are written in third person because the Chinese-English interpretor was not speaking on behalf of him. I only had five minutes with him because there were so many people trying to get some time with him.

Hello Moon, how are you doing today? Are you confident for your Warcraft III matches?

He is full of confidence.

As you belong to StarCraft II for Fnatic, do you live in the Fnatic house or are you currently living in Korea? What was your practice regime like for the World Cyber Games 2012?

He mostly practices at home and the details of his practice contain mainly replay watching and strategy making.

eSports isn’t an established sport yet in Australia compared to countries like Korea and America and thus pro-gaming isn’t looked onto as a favourable career choice. We just heard from Team Invictus Gaming (Chinese DOTA2 team) that studies definitely should be put before competitive gaming. In Korea the landscape is quite a bit different, it’s a lot more established towards this kind of career path.

What does it mean to be a full time pro-gamer in Korea?

As a professional sportsman from Korea, he considers that the team is top class quality and eSports industry in Korea is relatively developed. He sees that the China team and the teams from Australia and the other teams from the world are well prepared in the last few years. He sees the development and is extremely happy about it.

When are you coming to Australia and what would you say to your Australian fans that have followed you since your Warcraft III days and now your StarCraft II career?

He has never visited Australia before but he is happy to see that he has fans that support him over there. He will try to honour them by getting the best score possible and he would love them to keep following him during WCG.
