I am relatively new to playing zerg (about 2 weeks) but know the fundamentals etc. Anyway i am finding that i am struggling a great deal with keeping my minerals low as the mechanics are a lot different than terran where you can just constantly produce and build more production.
I have tried dropping numerous macro hatches, expanding etc but eventually it seems not as beneficial. I have done some research into the question i am asking and the main and most logical thing i can come up with is to throw money into static defense such as spore crawlers and spine crawlers, however this does not seem logical as this would involve either making drones (wasting lava) or pulling drones off the minerals hurting your economy.
I have also toyed around with the idea that zerg during the 'droning phase' are always going to float in minerals for at least a while and that based on the zerg mechanics that a 'bank' is desirable to re-max armies etc.
So basically in case any does not understand, i am inquiring whether having a large bank as zerg is a good or bad thing and if it is bad, how does one address this, as inevitably you're not going to have as much gas and minerals regardless and maxing on lings to burn minerals seems like a waste of lava.
