The test subject has needed little encouragement to try again. She came to me late last night wanting... nay... needing to learn how to control the might of the Protoss race.
This time i matched her versus a tougher opponent in different sector. It was a pretty valley, known as 'Ohana'. I remained as hands off as i dared, and was only forced to step in once, to stop the first rush by the formidable 'easy' ranked computer. Beyond that she showed great tenacity in destroying her Terran opposition.
Can the others be right? Is she truly the child of destiny that we have waited so long for?
I try not to dwell on the thought, i fear that even a whisper of the truth may cause it too vanish like smoke in the wind.
The subject has managed to grasp a number of basic concepts quite well, things that have taken other controllers years to master. And yet, she stubbornly continues to 'construct additional pylons' whenever she is prompted to build probes. Perhaps this is an innate reaction or a defense mechanism trying to protect her from the barrage of my psychological experimentation.
Alas, we have no time, i must forge ahead. We have come to far to fail at the final hurdle. But still, i stay awake at night pondering... have i done enough? Is there more that i could do? Do we still have enough time to change the course of history before the heart of the swarm envelopes us all?
As such, I have been forced against my will to begin phase 2 of the operation. Commonly referred to the 'honey' or 'award' approach.
I have promised that if she does well, i will allow her to play a special 'campaign' mode, in which she can learn the inner workings of the Terran empire. The allure of this reward has proved irresistible for the subject, and she appeared to try harder to win my approval.
She is keen to try this secret game type, perhaps i will allow this, or perhaps i will leave it enticingly just out of reach of her grasp for a while longer yet. I am still to decide what the best course of action should be.
Perhaps the choice will not be mine to make, if she is truly the one, perhaps she will make the choice for me.
Leg, just when i thought you couldn't be more amazing then BAM. I dont have a GF (Insert joke about nerds and GF's here) but my mum (Insert another joke) was looking up SC2 stuff when she found out i was in WCS and somehow found out about Starjewelled....luckily her PC is about 50 years old and wouldn't run SC2 because she almost bought it just for that rofl
On topic keep up the good work Peter i expect to see her at WCS next year haha :P

2v2 Tournie should include some guy on guy action too. but have like a limit to only 8 groups imo or else it'll go for too long.
To make it more fair on lower leveled players we should have something simmular to the trials of xel'naga, where the obs gives more units /gold ect to the lower league players.

My own experience is so similar to Leg's that im quite sure its happened to so many people whether teaching friends or girlfriends. I think the only key point about teaching your GF is the "dont explode or she'll never play again" thing. My missus is pretty interested in SC2 from a spectators standpoint and i know she would like playing too, but its a fairly long learning curve for her. I got her doing a basic one base blink build against computer, she got up to normal i think so far. To be honest, i think the best thing we could all do for getting our respective girls into SC2 is to introduce them to -eachother-. Dum dum dumm.
Is it just me, or do the ladies have a thing for Aiur?
Edit: I think the initial problem for some Ladies when they havent played many fast paced mouse games in the past is that they need time to get their very basic mechanics down, so they feel fluent when operating the game. I made my partner play the campaign first, regardless of how much "practicing terran wont help!" :P - Get that crystal going and its all good though, 5some protoss missions perfect for getting any mans better half down with controlling units

Reason: BlahBlah
My gf knows I play "terrans" and that's about it. She has some pretty sold Mario Bros. skills (SNES emulator ftw) but has never played a PC game as far as I'm aware. But that's ok!
I have been talking to a few Barcrafty NZ ladies who all have SC2 playing partners about doing a fun night each week where we do some team games and they have some fun while learning to play, have a skype call with a few laughs etc!
If anyone else has a gf who would want to join in and have some fun there is no judgement at all!
Can't say my gf is interested in playing SC2 but I have infected her with the WoW bug

Azz had a chance at this one point in the game where he had a nexus and 6 probes. But he found a way to **** it up from there 3 times in a row - Iaguz
