Then that is a flaw in the map. You can't fix one race's advantage by giving an advantage to another race. How can you play a really greedy fast three-CC on this map (hypothetically speaking, not saying I would, but I wouldn't be able to if I wanted to)? Playing against a Zerg, how can I block / delay their third hatch? You can't is the short answer. It's not a fair map. It is a straight up, uncontested fast third for Zerg that costs the price of one hatchery. P&T have to spend minerals in order to get access to their third.
A more elegant way to fix the pylon abuse would to put in some dead-space around the main-third border. Water, trees, (non-destructible) rocks, debris... Basically stop the warp-in on the low ground. To a lesser extent, it will also narrow down the Reaper entrance points.
I'm not really going to argue too much because I've spoken directly to the designer (because initially I thought it was an issue too) and he told me it wasn't - through testing and other means they decided it should be as it is.
It's hardly an "advantage" for zerg to be able to get the third - if a zerg takes a third super fast, they are open to early 1 base pressure, or even 2. If you're a terran and you want a "greedy" third, how about taking the islands that *no* race can get to APART from Terran until t2 tech is out? Your whole point of 'if I can't delay the zerg third' isn't really that logic, if you'd play zerg you'd know you really need to be a base ahead of p or t to be able to compete at all with those races, purely because of the high efficiency of their units compared to zerg.
As for making it a purely blocked off third - how is Tal'Darim going these days? Still gets bitched at by EVERYONE especially Zerg because keeping the zerg from taking a third efficiently really degrades their ability to stay in the game. Any other maps that have a fully blocked off third? Nope. The ONLY map left in the ladder pool that has a rock-blocked third is Tal'Darim, and you can bet your bottom dollar that map is out next week when ladder resets.
Also I forgot: It's not just about 3rd bases: good luck EVER getting a pvp that isn't 4gate if P can warp in from that high ground - and while your idea about adding dead zone has merit; you need to remember this is a remake of an old BW map, as part of the BW remake pack that ESV released (like a few of these ones) - and I'm not sure there is space to add any dead zone unfortunately
