Really, his decision to not play won't make me think any different of him. He's still a very solid foreign player.
I think GOM's decision was a justified one. I'm disappointed that they didn't actually use this as an opportunity to say "OK, after a year of SC2 we don't have everything covered in our rules and some of it is at our discretion. But now that this has happened, we are defining a rule that... etc". They left this grey area grey which isn't cool. In saying that, the guys on SotG brought up a match (was it an IPL game?) where someone was running late and got penalised a game for it, so his opponent threw the next game to even it up - it makes it a bit tough to set a particular rule without eliminating the possibility of this sort of sportsmanship happening.
The polarity of views seems to be on one side, people who think GOM did fine and that Naniwa should take it on the chin and just qualify himself, and those who get absolutely infuriated because it was all GOM's fault. Mostly disappointed in this kind of reaction, more than the whole ordeal itself.
I did crack up at iNcontrol's shenanigans, enjoyed the addition of Mia Rose to the panel (even though everyone was too wasted to make it more interesting) and still don't know how upset Artosis really was after the 2v2 game

The Korean culture isn't as letigious as ours. That is, they have an honour-based culture where stuff doesn't need to be in the rules for people to know what's right and wrong. That being said, the GSL is the 'global' starcraft league and as such maybe should lay out the rules a lot better.
Then again, maybe players should just know what's right and wrong. The MOMENT I saw nani pull probes i lold and said "he's getting banned" because I have a basic understanding of Korean culture, not to mention the idea of saying "**** you" to an organisation because of your own cockiness and immaturity. No matter where in the world he did this it was wrong.
