It's been a rough couple of days for myself and some other members of Ascension Gaming, I really feel like I owe a statement to the community, so here it is.
On Sunday, 'Chobo' tore through the Masters Cup, taking out big names like Ender, Targa, Rossi, yang and beating Mafia 3-0. To most of us AsG guys, this was something that had 'finally' happened, as Chobo had posted decent results taking down big names on ladder fairly often, while not having good success in online and offline tournaments. The next day, several claims by influential community members were made about Chobo being a hacker. I would just like to point out here to everyone that defended Chobo, including myself, did the absolute correct thing. We stuck to our grounds and defended him against the claims he was hacking, which, in truth, turned out to be correct.
However, today, it was confirmed that Chobo, is not really Chobo. That two confirmed high level pro gamers such as Naama and Seohyeon had been using his account to play ladder games, and it was later confirmed by Chobo and Seo themselves, that Seo had in fact played the Masters Cup under Chobo's ID. This is a serious violation of rules and the consequences were huge. Myself, nor any other member of Ascension had any idea about this.
So, I'd like to formally tell everybody... Chobo has been removed from Ascension Gaming. I hope any past perceptions you guys have of us are not tarnished by the actions of Chobo.
Now guys, Chobo is actually a great guy in person, he just made a terrible decision and consequently a huge mistake, this isn't a plea for forgiveness on his behalf at all, in fact, he deserves every amount of rebuke he will get. I'd also like to point out that most of the blame is being pinned on Chobo, and with good reason, but the real reason why Seo played on Chobo's account was because he wanted the money. If you happen to come across him on ANY ladder, he will still have the AsG tags for now, until he can change his name or buy a new account.
I would also like to add in my two cents here. While these past few days has shown how, as a community, we can work exceptionally well together to weed out players like this, it has also shown that there is a select few players whose word is taken as gospel and must never be disagreed upon. Sure, Chobo was a cheater, but he was never a hacker, and the fact that a lot of people passed judgement on him before any sort of conclusive evidence was found, and the way they instantly dismissed any sort of counter evidence and rallied to support the 'chosen few' was incredibly immature.
But alas, it's all in the past. Let's just move on and hope in future we take a more logical and thorough approach to these kinds of situations.
