For those who do not know, Mumble is a server similar to Teamspeak and Ventrilo which allows people to converse with each other through voice(if you have a microphone) or text as long as you are in the same channel.
So one day I heard some sc2sea members talking about Mumble in the chatbox and how it was one of the leading VOIPs, and best of all it was free (if you had a host of your own). Since SC2SEA.com has its own pimped up dedicated server (which in terms of resources used we under utilize), I thought why not host mumble on SC2SEA! There are plenty of house clans I'd imagine would love to have their own private custom channels, and when we transition into Diablo 3 or other games with our SC2SEA guild, having our own dedicated server will be a nice feature for our site and guild!
**The SC2SEA.com Mumble server is now LIVE!**
Key Features:
A leading and super clear / lag free voice client / system.
Text to voice ability - If you don't have a microphone, just type in the chat and it gets automatically read out.
100 concurrent users (I can adjust this)
Password protected custom channels for House Clans
Completely free to use
Completely free to host if you have your own server - which I do!
Credit:
The random people on the chat who said Mumble was awesome, you know who you are! I don't I forgot, sorry!
Frogmite for asking me about teamspeak which was what brought mumble into the conversation when i suggested it to him.
At the installation screen just choose install client (the default option), don't install the server.
After the initial setup choose "Automatically generate certificate" for your account
For the site host enter: 199.167.132.106 Port: 64738
Enter your nickname then go to Self > Register so nobody else can use it. Any abusers / imposters will' be banned from the server.
Rules are similar to SC2SEA's basically don't troll, don't abuse the system/client and don't be a dick and you will never get banned. All common sense people! Now have fun with it!
Clan Channels
At the moment private clan channels will only be created for house clans. House clan leaders if you want to set up your own channels / passwords I will make you an admin and you can do so on your own. Message me with your registered nick on the server.
For the few of you who can't connect make sure you have downloaded the latest mumble version, I believe if you have an older version they don't even let you start mumble!

The main advantage mumble has over teamspeak for sc2sea is that it is free to run a mumble server (murmur) of any capacity as long as you have a server of your own (like sc2sea.com does). It's quite empty because most people are already in their respective clan servers and don't see the need to hop on. I'm usually on it when I am coding or gaming. Tried to get the guys to hop on during the Dota 2 in-houses last weekend but maybe next time.
Sorry for double posting, but I figured I should do this in a separate post.
Some of the guys were having trouble setting up mumble to work how they wanted so I thought I'd just make this post.
Setting up your mumble
This guide will assume that you've got the correct version of mumble installed and run the wizard at installation.
Enable Advanced settings
Head on over to Configure > Settings in mumble. The first thing you need to do is tick on the Advanced tickbox in the bottom left.
Now, let's run through this tab by tab:
1. Audio Input
Ensure the Device is set to your Microphone and Echo is set to Multichannel.
Depending on what you want, you can set Transmit to:
1) Push to talk - where it will only transmit when you press a button
2) Continuous - never stops transmitting. I do not recommend this.
3) Voice Activity - only transmits when the microphone is picking up something over a certain threshold
If you selected push to talk, keep in mind there is an additional step you need to do. It is addressed a bit later.
If you selected Voice Activity, read the spoiler
You'll see this:
Select Signal to Noice and then move the slidebars until when you speak, it moves to the green and when you aren't speaking or are typing, etc. it is in the red.
Compression should have been set by the wizard so just leave them as is.
For Noise Supression set it to the maximum. For amplification, set it depending on the volume of your microphone.
2. Audio Output
Set Device to your preferred output device. Untick Exclusive and Positional Audio
You can set the volume of what you hear using the volume slider
If you want mumble to reduce the volume of your other apps when someone or you or either are speaking, you can tick the checkboxes under Attenuate Applications by. Move the slider to your liking.
3. Shortcuts
Yes, I skipped a tab. You can go back to that later if you want. Most of those settings are personal preferences. Now, if you selected Push to Talk back there, you should read the spoiler, else, you can move along.
You want to set a shortcut for push to talk here. I have ` set for mine. But you can set whatever, like F2. First up, click on the Add on the bottom left.
You should get an Unassigned row. Click on Unassigned and Select Push-to-Talk:
Then click under shortcut on the row, and press your preferred button. Afterwards, it should look similar to this:
Mine says K:` which means the ` key on the Keyboard. And you are done, for this step. Journey on.
4. Overlay
Aaargh! More skipping!? Yes, I lied when I said I was going to run through tab-by-tab. Oh well.
Un-tick Enable Overlay if it is ticked. It occasionally causes issues in games.
5. And you are done!
Click on OK and your settings should be saved. Hop onto the sc2sea.com server:
Server > Connect > Add New
Label: {name for identifying the server. I picked sc2sea}
Address: 199.167.132.106
Port: 64738
Username: {The default username you want on the server}
Then select it, and click connect. Welcome to the sc2sea.com mumble server!
