Every time I see zerg put down a really early (~3:00 minute) gas I get really uneasy, because speed will kick in just after 6 minutes and before hellions, so I'm really in the dark as to what's going on.
A strategy I've seen zerg players use a lot is to rush for a good number (enough to kill a bunker) of speedlings and hit right as speed completes. This usually hits when I have 5 marines from a 1rax FE or 2 marines with a CC first. Needless to say everything on the low ground dies.
I reckon the best response might be to calculate exactly when speed kicks in, and blindly retreat everything up the ramp until you build up 4 hellions to move out. The problem with this, however, is that if your hellions are in your base during this time, a baneling bust could easily come and since your hellions have not been scouting the surrounding area you won't know that you needed a double wall.
So what do you guys think is the best response to seeing a really early zerg gas?

You can deal with the retard speedlings by building your bunker near the ramp and CC against a wall (or next to the CC. Just transfer a few scvs to the natural so that you have ~10 to surround the remaining surface area of the bunker with and you'll be way ahead. You do need to be on point, though, because if the speedlings get around the bunker before your scvs do then everything's gonna die.
Bunker on the low ground can do it i put a depot to decrease surface area but i dont CC first that much so i am not sure how effective it is

you really have a third depot to partially wall the bunker at 6 minutes?
Hmm thx. Yeh I guess with 1rax FEd you could probably hold it if you have more low-ground scvs. As for CC first I don't think you can hold with 2 marines though lol

Yeah i build my bunker on the low ground behind the ramp (on most maps, some dont really work as the bunker cant protect your min line) and build my depots in a wall in front of it (so my bunker isnt part of the wall but is actually behind the wall. This really helps when facing early roach pressure too because it limits the amount of roaches that can hit it due to their short range.
If i'm on a map that the bunker near the ramp doesnt work I build the bunker at the ramp of the natural (or at the front of the natural) but just a bit back from the ramp and start building my wall of depots in front of it. You won't have a complete wall in this case when pressure hits but it will mean the zerglings/roaches have to run around your wall before they attack your bunker which both allows you time to react and means that you get a few extra hits of before they start attacking your bunker. In this case be weary that they may just do a runby, but if you pull scvs away from the minerals around your bunker you shouldnt take too much damage before hellions/banshee come out.
Also, remember to be wary of the zerglings/roaches trying to take out your wall to you main, and get some scvs ready to repair from inside your main base. Nothing more frustrating then when you set up this simcity and they run straight into your base haha

it doesnt matter you will have hellions out soon enough and all you need to do it hold of until then even if you lose 3-5 scvs you will still be ahead especially if you went cc first
