Hi Yekke, how's it going? Recently you attended IEM Singapore where you managed to breeze through the Open Bracket (coming extremely close to beating former Code S player LiquidZenio), but eventually you were eliminated in the Group Stage by some very strong opponents. What did you expect going into IEM, and what are your overall thoughts of the event?

Yekke: Going into the open bracket I knew for sure i was gonna make it into the group stage, but anything beyond that would be all about which group i got placed in. Obviously i got knocked out 0-10 thereafter, but overall i'm not at all disappointed in my results and thought it was a great event!

Regardless, you have been shown some really strong play lately, including getting 2nd at WCS Singapore! Seeing that some of what can be considered your biggest 'rivals' aren't going to be at the Alienware Arena Pro-Am Challenge, are confidant that you can do well? Who do you think will be your biggest threat?

Yekke: Yeah I feel confident, although I haven't been playing Starcraft 2 since IEM. Rev and Kyzer were my toughest opponents and they're not gonna be there. I think my biggest threats will be ProAnnn and draKe. I haven't beaten ProAnnn in a tourney before for some reason, and draKe's supposed to be really good.

So you've had a bit of success lately, and your name has been seen around the place (teamliquid, sc2sea, etc). Can you give us a bit of an idea of what your future holds? Are you staying with Team Eve? Any goals you'd like to share?

Yekke: I'll just be practicing as much as I possibly can since I have a bit of free time at the momoent. I'll definately be staying with Team Eve! My only goal currently is to be the best player in singapore so I'll be working towards that.
Click the image to open in full size.

We saw you place 4th place in the World Championship Series (Singapore), and narrowly miss out on qualifying for IEM Singapore after making it to Stage 3 of the SEA Qualifiers. Could you give everyone an idea of what you've been up to recently with Starcraft 2?

draKe: I've been away most of November for an overseas exercise in Australia, and just got back on the 23rd. Currently, I'm having a break from my national service duties, so I'm using this time to regain my skill and to improve more. Actually, my most recent event was the wT weekly where I got to the ro8, losing to the top protoss player in SEA, iM.Light

Considering some of the other big name Singapore players have other commitments as well and can't attend this tournament (including your team mates!), do you feel confidant going into the event? Who do you think will be your biggest threat?

draKe: I feel confident for this event as I've been practicing Starcraft for the majority of last and this week, and have already exceeded my previous MMR/rank on the Korean server before I left for overseas exercise. It's also on my birthday too :P so there's that added luck.

My biggest threat would be EveYekke as I feel he's the most accomplished player of that group and is the undisputed best Zerg in SG right now with my other teammates Kyzer and Revenant stuck in basic military training, and Blysk the top SG protoss player not attending this event. Other than that, I also have to be wary of the other SG tosses - they might catch me off guard with unorthodox play.

You've been with Flash for a while now, and had some success here and there in tournaments. Now that you're back in practice, do you have any goals you'd like to hit in the near future? Are you happy to stay with Flash? Play in more events? International events?

draKe: I won't say I'm fully back in practice yet, I still have 3 more months to go before I'm done wiith full-time NS. I'd like to win a local tournament (this one would be a great start) and travel overseas to international events once I complete my NS.

I'm happy with my teammates, sponsors and management and am glad to be a part of this great organisation. Shoutout to our team''s sponsors: Cooler Master - CM Storm, Zepy Games, Gunnar Optiks, MAGES and Colosseum. Also shoutout to my teammates who are unable to attend - I'll do the team proud and win this tournament

How long have you been playing Starcraft 2?

poorist: Well, a long time. I've been playing Starcraft 2 since the release of Wings of Liberty!

Why did you decide to sign up for this tournament and what are your expectations?

poorist: I guess I'd like to experience what it's like to be in a tournament, having watched GSL since Season 1! I don't know how I'll fare but i'm definitely up for some fun!

Have you played in any other tournaments before this?

poorist: No, I guess there aren't many to begin with and as a student currently, i find it hard to find time to practice regularly.

Have you ever considered getting more involved with Starcraft 2? Such as joining a clan, or becoming a pro and joining a team?

poorist: Well not exactly, because of the same reason I gave before; not really enough time. I had a number of clans asking me online but I guess since I wasn't going to be too active there wasn't much of a point to join a clan. However I do have a few buddies who play team games with me online and all so that's still cool!
Click the image to open in full size. How long have you been playing Starcraft 2?

Nameless: I've been playing SC2 for almost 2 years now. I play Zerg from the day I started and have been loyal to the swarm ever since.

Why did you decide to sign up for this tournament and what are your expectations?

Nameless: I decided to sign up for the Alienware tournament because it has always been in my interest to play games competitively and also to get in touch with the gaming community. The tournament allows me to gain experience to see how it feels like playing in a tournament game and at the same time, I get to meet people who play SC2 and make friends with them, something the SC2 community in Singapore is lacking I feel.

Have you played in any other tournaments before this?

Nameless: I have taken part in the SC2SEA GPD several times already but I feel that its a totally different experience playing in a LAN tournament where the players are on site and you can talk to them. I have also taken part in the Singapore Amateur League(SAL) organised by HDPhoenix about slightly over a year ago. I think that the Singapore SC2 community needs more LAN tournament around so that players of all skill levels are able to come down either as a participant or spectator to build up the community.

Have you ever considered getting more involved with Starcraft 2? Such as joining a clan, or becoming a pro and joining a team?

Nameless: Yes. However due to National Service, I was unable to focus or pursue playing Starcraft 2 at a higher level. It would be a dream come true if I could go pro and have a team I can discuss and explore new strategies with. I really enjoy the company of other Starcraft 2 players.

  • Based on that the players are assigned to groups in a clockwise manner. Only time this broke the pattern was switching seed 13 with 16 to prevent 3 Eve and 2 DM.MCZ players in a single group.
