Hello gents;
So I'm really considering upgrading to a new laptop. Currently I have a 15" macbook pro; which sucks for SC2 (10fps past the 20 min mark, aww yea) , and streaming is out of the question. What I would like to do is buy a laptop around 1500$ aussie, which would have the potential to stream sc2 ect. Preferably the laptop will be 15" aswell as its like..a good size.
Laptops that have been suggested to me at the moment are fraglab laptops, and the lenovo thinkpad? range.
Well I'm an American so I don't know if these companies exist in AUS. I know Alien Ware has never had a bed reputation for their hardware. You may want to check them out their gaming Laptops but it will be a bit pricy.
Also, ACER has given both of my close friends with excellent performance. I think if you want the brand name it looks like Fraglab is one and Alien Ware is another. These brand names will definitely make shopping faster but if you look around at some ACER and other computer makers laptops you can find a nice Laptop for a lot cheaper.
Something to keep in mind for streaming. You need very good internet to stream at + 480p and without Wi-Fi. I stream Brood War for casting like 5 hours a day and I can tell you it eats up my computer hardware man and that game is 14 years old. You need a VERY VERY fast / powerful processor i7 is not a terrible to go with or whatever AMD's equivalent would be. I'd also try to hit 6GB or higher for your RAM just so you can Alt Tab easier haha.
Lastly your Graphics Card. It depends on what your exactly trying to steam. You need to be able to play what you are playing SC2 running @ 720p Ultra specs your going to need a pretty high end graphics card. But on the other hand if your fine with High / Mid / Low graphics you could hit a lower end graphics card.
Pretty much the graphics card plays the game smoothly. Processor and RAM allow xSplit to stream smoothly and not to slow down your gameplay. Just saying this would be much easier to have a Desktop ahah ^_^. Good Luck my friend.

Cheers;
So basically I always play on low settings so I'd stream with that aswell. The proccessor/cpu for the frablabs laptop is an i7 at like 2.6 hz? or something like that. the graphics card seemed to be good enough for playing at decent settings as far as googling it for sc2 goes.
Thanks for your post, very insightful
Edit: so yea the fraglabs laptop im looking at would have Intel i7-3720QM 2.6Ghz that <<<< 16 gb of ram and nVidia GeForce GTX660M 1GB. internet providing, would that be good enough to stream?
That's what I'm running in my Frag Labs laptop and it runs like a dream. You'd have no trouble streaming.
P.S. I'm not sure if it's still valid (it might have expired), but try using the coupon code "INVIDIA" when making your purchase and you will secure yourself a discount.

Just on this, I may be wrong, but I think I remember someone saying that sc2 was a CPU capped game not GPU (may have been dippa). So getting a more powerful CPU with a moderate-almost-high-end GPU would probably be the best option if this is true.
Nevertheless I don't disagree that you want a decent graphics card, as Sc2 probably isnt going to be the only game you play

If you're going for a gaming laptop. Prioritize your GPU. the cpu isn't a large factor in how well you can run a game. Maxing out on the graphics card, and having a a lesser processor, (let's say an i5) will get better performance than a maxed out cpu and mid range graphics.
Streaming ultra/high quality is out of the question on a laptop under 2000. You will be able to stream on low/normal if you MUST have to stream.
http://www.dell.com/au/p/xps-l702x/fs this is a good laptop and Dell is pretty good on quality. It's also 3d so you can watch 3d movies. Plus, there's a 40% discount on it right now so you can get it for 1550 instead of 2599. It has a GT555 which isn't a slouch in terms of GPU power, and Quad core 2.2ghz processor, which will allow you to stream on maybe 480p on normal.
i have a clevo horize p150hm (made by same people as lenovo, metabox etc) and it runs good. i got it from this company www.logicalblueone.com.au/ who posted it to me. very good service and am very happy with it, would definitely recommend that company
EDIT: exceptional pricing also

for streaming i know you need the higher CPU the GPU doesnt matter too much. but if you want more for your money. buy a desktop! cheaper for what you get.
