Can someone please help with this every time i see terran use this push i die this is the closest i've been to overcoming it im thinking cutting production from robo and just teching to HT?
Just had this TvT game, was in the lead fairly well by mid game, but don't know how to deal with siege tanks placed near xel naga towers. Makes vikings useless and there's no way to do a slow push forward. Any help appreciated
1. You had an army advantage early on but you threw it away with the attack at the 7-8 min mark, instead u should of simply taken an expo. If u look at the units lost tab during that attack u will c why.
2. Quite simply I don't think gateway units with immortals can beat mmm especially when they add banshees. You should of gone colli instead of adding those extra 3 gates. Soon after u add colli get a tc and get zealot charge and then go for high templars. Of course if u go this tech path u will need to be way more defensive cause colli need lots of gateway units to back it up.
3. UPGRADES, u had no upgrades all game. i find throwing down 2 forges and getting a quick 11 followed by a quick 22 after the twighlight council goes down is super helpful.
And yes i do think u are being to aggresive instead imo u should just get your expo waaaaaaaay earlier and go down a higher tech path with units like colli, charge lots ht (all of which rip through mmm) and more upgrades.
I have a replay of a TvP (Im the Protoss) on Xel'naga Caverns. This is from NA server silver league.
Im not sure exactly what i did wrong because i knew everything the Terran was doing, and i was the one for the most part keeping him contained until 8 minutes before the game finished when i lost my final colossus ball at his high yield and from there it fell apart. He had too many thors for me to deal with.
I know that if i had scouted his expansion and found a better timing window to attack i would have crippled his exonomy as he was mining off of 1 base at the end of the game to my 2-3 bases.
It is a long game but that's exactly what i need to focus on. For most of the game keep it at x8 speed it gets pretty boring. Any general tips about how i could macro better and choose which tech i should have transitioned to against him.
- Your opening build order was a bit strange, you went 14 gate, 14 gas. Try and get the standard 12 gate 14 gas or 13 gate 15 gas opening down super solid. It's only a really small thing but once you know it like the back of your hand you can focus on other things like scouting and it'll help you execute your build into the mid game.
- I think you only chrono boosted once in the first few minutes. You should really be using that chrono energy asap on your nexus, warp tech or your gates in the first few minutes while there isn't too much else going on. Later on you're bound to forget as most players but using it constantly in the early game will really help you.
- You also stopped making probes when the terran started containing you. You were already way ahead in probes, if you'd kept up production constantly you could have rofl stomped him. I think there's a day9 daily where he covers a situation exactly like this. Believe it's called 'losing to early pressure' or something, should definitely check it out.
- 7:45 you made 5 pylons at once because you were supply blocked. Not good. If you do get supply blocked, don't put down more than two pylons at that stage of the game. It would take you a good couple of minutes to use up the supply you just created and that money could have gone elsewhere.
- You could have moved out against the bunker earlier if you had made more zealots instead of stalkers. Zealots take down buildings faster
- Again, you stopped making probes for a long time, and the terran started to catch up. You could have had a huge lead the whole game if you constantly produced and chronoed them.
- You weren't spending all your money. You had an idle robo for most of the game, which could have made you a ridiculous amount more of immortals and collosus. Put any non gateways producing stuctures on a hotkey so you can build units easier. Try and get in a routine of cycling through your unit producing structures using your hotkeys and producing whenever you can.
- Use that chrono! You should at the very least constantly chrono research, i.e ground +1 and thermal lance.
- 5000 minerals 3000 gas?! You were not using your warp gates enough, let alone your robo. He was maxed and you were at 160. With that many resources why aren't you maxed? At least throw down 2 more forges and started chronoing as many upgrades as possible. You did throw down more gates which is good, but you could have thrown down 10 more. That way you could reinforce your army a lot quicker after any battle. But, really you just need to work on your macro, spend that money asap!!
- After the big battle, you warped in a bunch more stalkers, but you could have chronoed all your gateways and got that second batch a lot faster
- 7000 mins and you're not producing out of your robo? Get a second one and make 2 collosi or immortals simultaneously, continuously. I think you just really didn't know how to spend all that money. Hit that W key as often as possible and warp in asap constantly. Then chrono. You had a twilight council, where was your charge upgrade? Why not get some HTs or DTs? He had invested so much into vikings if you just switched into HT's, added in a heap of chargelots and immortals you could have crushed him. Definitely not enough immortals on the field seeing as he was going heavy marauder tank thor.
- Micro your collosi better. They were always at the front of your army, when they should be at the back.
- 32 mins you won a battle and didnt push him. He had nothing but a few vikings. You could have won right there.
- 35 mins you kept making colli even though he had a bunch of vikings and thors. Just make immortals!
- Ok you made two more robos, good. Now why aren't you making immortals!!! *Rage face* :P Zealots also do pretty well against thors, especially with charge.
- 45 mins, ahhhh you're making some immortals. ......But it's too late. GG.
Concluding:
Spend your money!!!!!!!
Make more probes
Spend your money!!!!!!!!!!!!
Use that chrono boost
Scout!
Be more aggressive!
Learn unit counters!!!
Hope that helped

....*Massive facepalm*
O.K,i knew there were plenty of flaws in what i did, that pretty much sums it up i think. A couple of those points i normally do better but just failed so hard right there, like using chrono-boosts.
Thank you Makra for that constructive criticism. I only knew about half of the mistakes you stated.
Being aggresive has never been my strong point.
Unit counters i do know, when i watched the replay i facepalmed when i kept making colossus.
Building more probes, i stopped after i got bunker-rushed because i got nerd-panick and i didn't know what to do so i pushed after my immortal came out. (that was the first time i got bunker-rushed)
The agression problem can be fixed by scouting, as one is usually hesitant to attack without knowing what the enemy has. If you just made more observers or sent a probe into his base every now and then, especially after winning a battle, you would have known when you could win.
I've noticed after seeing a few bronze-silver PvTs lately that terrans often favour going mech, with heavy marauder and not much marine support. As a protoss player you should rejoice when terran goes this sort of one-dimensional unit comp because it's just so easy to counter. Immortals, void rays, phoenix, chargelots, blink stalkers (if he goes heavy tank play) and even DTs can rape that. Despite what you might think void rays and phoenix beat vikings food-for-food so by using pretty much any of those mech counters he's forced to make marines to try and counter you. Then your cols will eat him up
Edit: Just to clarify, though I suggested throwing down another 10 gates, that's not really how you should play, because you can't support constant production out of that many gates. But seeing as you were missing the warp cycles and you had so many spare resources then that's a reasonable way to catch up in the food count. Having good macro is about having the right number of buildings and constantly producing out of those buildings.

I just played this game a few hours ago and was very frustrated at my lost. The first error i think i made is that my macro was bad as I was hovering about 3K minerals towards late game.
What the terran kept doing was, pushing with a bunch of marines/tank and seiging me from the lowground with the help of the medivac's vision. I managed to defend the first push, but his subsequent pushes were getting harder and harder to defend, because at the same time, I guess i was getting more and more demoralised at how easy my units die, including my 2/3 ultralisk against his less upgraded units. =(
While playing the game, I also had problems managing my units as they were streaming in from all over, as such, when they pass by the enemy, they get mauled. Any tips on managing units that stream in from all over the map when you have more than 3 bases up and running?(exlcuding macro hatches)
I keep coming acorss these types of push, have also seen these pushes happening to big names like IdrA, July, NesTea etc on TV. I'm still however unsure as to how to defend the push. I have attached the replay, and hope to gain some valuable inputs.
Hey guys!
I hope you can help me. Please, any feedback would be great. I thought I did well, except getting supply blocked. I am peanutbutter (Protoss) vs Zerg.
Hey guys pls give me feedback on these two replays where i lost of muta/ling after 3gate expoing. Im not sure as to what i should do vs this as collosus is basically no go because of all the mutas and mass ground units gets owned by all the lings especially since he can force me to waste my energy as i try and FF the lings while does hit and run tactics, pls advise. Would be greatly appreciated http://www.sc2sea.com/downloads.php?do=file&id=266 http://www.sc2sea.com/downloads.php?do=file&id=267
PVP. I got 4 gated. I went for 3 gate robo into fast immortals. Should I have done anything differently? Would you suggest guardian shield? They got focused down quickly.. help http://www.sc2replayed.com/replays/1...terhulk#rd:dna
