Questions regarding TVP

Hey guys, i got a couple of questions regarding TVP. Im a diamond level terran on the SEA server btw.

1. Lets say i open with 2 rax( one reactor and one tech lab for maruaders) looking to put some pressure on the protoss around 6.45. What if the protos goes for 2 gate expo and have a decent army by the time i pressure? Do i bring scvs along to pressure him? Or do i just poke around and fall back and bunker up?

2. What is the appropriate response to a protoss who goes for 3 gate robo and then expo? ( Assuming i had gone for 2 rax expo) If i pressure them at 6.45, they will have an immortal out which will destroy my army.

3. I find it so hard to deal with a zealot heavy army with archons and high templars. When i emp their high templar they just merge them to form archons which just destroy my army. How do i deal with such a composition.

4. What are the maps that protos like to do cannon rushes generally? Do we need to scout early on those maps?

5. How many scvs to bring out to destroy one pylon during a cannon rush attempt? If the cannon goes up, what else can the terran do?

Hi, I'm gonna just add my 2cents but it'd be good if you can post replays so that we can help you better!

1: This question is hard to give a solid one-off answer.

- If he does nexus first, you can attempt to bring up to half your SCVs to all-out kill him
- If he does 1 gate expand, you can bring 3-5 (personal number) scvs to get a bunker up to deny his Nexus
- If he doesnt do any form of 1 gate expand / nexus first, you shouldn't be going to his base to pressure him but expand yourself (a transition that you must know)

* A 2 rax expand build as you know is a form of pressure build ( I'm sure you know this since you're diamond level ) and can often lead to transition as long as your toss opponent does not play a greedy build.

2: Ok like above, if you see that your opponent does not go for a 1gate expo / nexus first, you should scan at 6:45 instead of pressuring. Expo means you're trying to go for a more macro -based game and kill him off with better macro instead of pressuring him. In any case, 3 gate robo can make more units + stronger units than what a 2 rax can make so why go pressure? Stay in your base, scan and see what he's going then ask yourself

- Do I need detection for a possible DT?
- Do I go 3rax + reactor starport (standard) for 3 gate robo?
- Do I go for 4 rax + Ghost timing attack?
So on and so on

If you think it's a possible DT rush, do not move out of your base but instead prepare missile turrets while repairing your wall whilst without detection.

3: If after emping all their templars and you still get stomped by their army there's probably other reasons like

-His storms already got off a few times
-His upgrades are way above yours
-Your unit positioning is not optimal aka: Marines who are the bulk of the dps are tanking damage in front of marauders
-You're fighting in an open space which allows for zealot surrounds

and many other various reasons.

Archons do take time to merge and during these time the army is considerably vulnerable.

** Ok I'll give my input for 4 and 5 together since they both involve cannon rushes~

4/5: Protoss can do cannon rushes on ANY map so there is no need to scout early. But generally they do it on 2 player maps because your spawn location is comfirmed.

I'd advocate not to bring SCVs to destroy a pylon during a cannon rush attempt but instead build a bunker between the cannon and your command centre, after all cannon rushes costs more than a bunker. While doing it, make sure to remember to transition into drops / medivacs to

-Break out of the cannon rush and go kill him
-Or just go kill him if he has commited an immense ammount into the cannon rush!

Anyway these are just my $0.02 and I'm by far not the best terran player so any other terrans please give some input^_^

MrFool is completly correct the only things i feel i need to add is 8 mins is when dts generally will hit if you are rushing for them without being able to die. Also from the protoss side of things any long map we want to 1 gate expand and any rush able map we will 3 gate expand or 2 gate robo expand if we can. Also you shouldnt ever get cannon rushed as terran cos you can float so its just not worth it. MrFool so smart gl hf
