To summarise everything I said in chat after arriving home:
- The event was fantastic.
- Their media/infrastructure were fantastic.
- The people were on the ball too.
- They played so much awesome retro gaming music in the downtime. During my game they started playing Secret of Mana music and I seriously just melted. Freaking awesome.
- Unfortunately someone tripped a power cable somewhere and the SC2 had to be cut short. This wasn't their fault though, and shouldn't be heavily criticised for it.
- TargA won the showmatch and scored himself a very nice motherboard (eBay $$!).
- Hocus and I commentated half of a TvT before the power went out. Was fun!
- Timmay (Level 3) was an absolute champion. Very helpful, even when he was busy filming, he made time for us.
- Awesome girl in green dress (forgot to ask her name) who was running the SC2 side of things was really switched on. It was nice to attend an event and find someone who really knew what they were doing / talking about.
- They interviewed me about SC2SEA, eSports and our role in promoting/building the SEA competitive scene. I think the footage will be on the next episode of their show.
- They REALLY love eSports.
- They shamelessly plugged SC2SEA like crazy. They were wonderful.
- Return the favour by checking out their site/show at http://level3.org.au!
- The event itself was so sick. The cosplay competitions, the crowd, the general vibe of the venue was just so exciting! This was so much more than anything I've ever seen at a WCGau grand final. This was crowds screaming like you saw at NASL and MLG recently.
- We traded business cards.
- We're going to work together to host some local events in the future, they're very keen on partnering with me.
The SC2 Event will begin at 1pm on the 13th of July, 2011 at the Clayton Campus and will be streamed at http://www.livestream.com/gamescamp.
Level 3 is Melbourne’s video game review show that airs on C31 at 10:30pm Mondays, and Sydney's TVS at Tuesdays 9:30pm. They have invited the top Melbourne Starcraft & members of the sc2sea community to attend this live event. This will be an awesome opportunity for all casual and competitive Melbourne starcrafters to come watch the best Starcraft 2 players in Melbourne as well as meet fellow sc2sea members in person! There is likely to be pro vs pro matches or a mini tournament as well to keep things interesting. A call of duty tournament will be held there as well and the whole event will be live streamed to over 150k viewers, with part of the starcraft footage to be used for the TV show they produce.
Confirmed Player List
Resident Superman: DoX
Invited Melbourne's best:
inF
TAHocus
TAdeth has a prior commitment and cannot make it anymore, TAPinder is at the snow.
Other sc2sea players attending:
Fourby
TAMiLes
If you'll like to come just post in this thread and i will update the list so you can know who you're talking to there haha
~1pm:
Exhibition match of some kind, probably a 2v2 of some kind infront of main audience, with commentary. Will be streamed live.
~3-3:30 till ~6:00:
The students finish their workshops and presentations, and will get a chance to play with the best in Melbourne. This will also likely be live streamed, if not, filmed for the show. During the gap there might be interviews from players if they are happy to talk on camera. There will also likely to be a few pro vs pro matches to keep things interesting but the extent to which we do that is limited by the time it takes to complete each match.
i believe thats because the cpus from team immunity that the sc2 gamers will be using were only planned to be ready Wednesday morning, so dont worry by then it will be up and running fine
yeap everyone is welcome to come down and watch and you could probably play with them too, although i believe priority will be given to the bootcamp students.
sweet! ahahah it would be awesome to play!!! I have all my gear and Im DYING not being able to play SC2 on my gf's computer -.- lol.. Maybe in a show 2v2 if they are down 1 player and cant get anyone better (unlikely) ahah but yeh ofc I would understand if bootcamp students get priority haha
sounds fun! + my cousins live in clayton and study at monash AND play sc2 at a low level but love watching vods XD ill have to make sure they come
Today's event "showmatch" was rather disappointing from an audiences' point of view.
Instead of seeing a high level games what I could see from it was either Deth and Voices not taking it very seriously or the level of play just wasn't that high. Combined with some fairly lacking commentators the games wasn't worth the hype that came up with it
I was really expecting some really fun games to watch, or even perhaps audience participation, alas none of this occured. I hope you guys play some more exciting games, with some protoss representation , but in general just some fun games to watch rather than seeing you guys mess around.

You have to sign up for the bootcamp to participate, there have been several issues over the past few days with some kids forgetting their identifications and some who haven't signed up. If you're not registered to be there, eg. participant, presenter, volunteer, you can't actually be on premise.
