HOKAY lan numero dos happened on Sunday, felt i'd just write up a recap of the event for you non-auckland-based people, so, without further ado.

Outline of games first, lan stuff at the bottom...

Once again me and pet were the favourites, however going into this tournament I felt a bit more nervious than last time. On the sign ups I saw a couple of zergs in master and 1 gm, those who know me are aware of the fact that although I don't dislike ZvZ, I'm not very good at it. That being said I would still have been disappointed in anything less than 2nd place.

The group stages turned out to be fairly easy for me, 2-0 2-0 against a zerg player caled voj and greg (irisfresco). I'd browsed through vojs match history and he had an exploitable opening build, so i exploited it, and against greg we played some standard zvps which played out well for me.

wbr1 turned out to be fairly easy, just a master zerg who did some wierd cheesy play, 8 banes early on w/ no lingspeed, or lings for that matter. 7p in g2 which i deflected easy and voila, wb final again the one and only fray'pet.

As you all know Pets become an absolute monster recently, and is slowly becoming an internation superstar, so my goal was to take a couple of games off of him, I didnt expect to beat him really. In the wb final i decided to get my cheesy play out the way and see if i could get a few cheap wins. g1 i did a 15h17g17p bane all in which pet held easily, g2 i went muta he went hydra so I went muta bling ling but didnt micro my banes as well as i could have, a few shit engagements later and im into the lower bracket final.

the lb final was against voj again so I felt quite confident going into it, can't remember exactly what i did but 2 games later and I was once again against pet!@!@

By this point stallion had finally got his sc2 working and he was ready to cast our games along side baldie. really appreciate you guys casting and looking over the vods you did a preettyy goooood job

g1 of the wb final was probably the best game of the tournament. I went for ling festor, pet went muta and thegame ended up dragging on to the 31min mark after a pseudo basetrade type scenario, banes killing drones and hydras. broodlords doing what broodlords do best. very awesome game, the last battle was with neiter of us really mining, pet had some roaches and hydras against a few ultras,lings and 1 broodlord of mine. g2 i targa baned, did some damage, so i did more targa banes, ended up winning that, 1-1 in the grand finals felt pretty cool cause i'd actually been able to take a game off pet, something which i wasnt sure i'd actually be able to do ^.^

g3 i started to throw in a few mind games, building and then cancelling an evo in my main to throw pet off, he told me after the game that he just thought i'd put the bane nest in my main so it wasnt that effective in game, but he watched the replay and saw it so i decided to do more shennannigans in the next game.
I targa baned this game aswell, did very little damage except for killing lots of larva, had i not i would probably have lost as pet was ahead in supply by quite a bit. Anyways a roach bane follow up finished that off and i'd managed to beat pet in a series. **** yea.

So g1 of i guess what i'll call the 2nd series of the grand final i decided to do a build i hadnt done before, just playing off the mind game tricks that i felt i could use again him. I built a roach warren fairly early on, let pet see it, thinking he'd assume i had cancelled it like last game. I guess it kind of worked out like that, pet still scouted the roaches fairly early on, but i think the build would have been fairly successful, had i not lost all my lings to 1 bane,ultimately i got trapped on his ramp trying to bumrush his main, lost all my roaches and couldnt hold the follow up. dfenner.com

g2 of this series im still kicking myself about. Pet 10 pooled and i 15pooled, so i already have an advantage. The game went on "standardly" for a few mins and I decided to targa bane again. My micro was terrible and i lost all mybanes to a couple of pets but what i noticed was a lack of drones anyway.

At this point i was prepared for an all in, as i was ahead in econ with more drones and a 3rd but behind in tech. The final battle was roach ling v roach ling bane the area around my 3rd on antiga, a few baneling thrusting roach microing minutes later and pet was the victor!

Congrats my good sir, well played, all the best in france. This tournament was the first tournament that i've won money at which was awesome, and i put it to good use later in the day buying stuff (read: beer).

So outside of the games. After the group stages I went off to lunch with pet and a friend of mine, where we discovered that pets actually a cheeky ****** and pretty funny. We'd agreed that the winner of the tourny would nada dance (dfenner.com), but pet ******* didnt do it. wtf man.

We also agreed that dfenner.com would be our method for gg, which proved to be quite funny.
What else was there, the table hulk smashes by voj each time he lost a game were quite amusing XD

once again thanks to baldie and stallion, excellant job with the casting, Stally - sneaky snake savior shall remain 1 of a growing number of nicknames that i've been acquiring.

Last but certainly not least, BarcraftNZ, you guys are awesome, the barcrafts are so much fun, the lans are fantastic, really looking forward to seeing what you guys have in store for the future.
