Hey guys today I managed to achieve my first of many REAL sc2 goals, Achieving Masters Top 8.
Ever since starting long back in season 2 I've always wondered how good I could get.

To commemorate achieving this goal, I decided I would write down how I got, from the lowest depths of bronze to the higherish end of masters.




Season2:

My mate introduced me to Starcraft after he showed me a stream of Mr. Total Biscuit, thinking it was pretty cool, we rushed down to EB and quickly bought out the game. I went home, knowing nothing of the game,and quickly installed and made a Battlenet account. I launched up Starcraft 2, and decided upon the name DylDyl - as this was my nickname between my friends ( it was also dildo, but I didn't think it was appropriate:P). I went on and instantly clicked 1v1. Earlier that day we discussed the races of Starcraft 2 and I decided to choose Protoss, cause robots are pretty cool. The screen popped up with "Do you want to play in the practice league?"

I'm like what the heck, screw this 'Practice' Shit, Ima OWN these noobs.

First Game: First question I ask, how do you build advanced buildings? =__________= Its quite obvious, I lost
Second Game: I have my army chilling at my ramp, All of a sudden. BOOOOM ! my whole army gets nuked - gg.
Third Game: My first Protoss Vs Protoss, im starting to get used to the whole buildings thing, then at 7 mins, my probes get instakilled, I was DT rushed. WHAT THE!! INVISIBLE UNITS OP ABSDKASJDLKJASLDKJASLKDJALSKDJALSKDJLASKDJLAKDJASD KJASLDKJASLK
I can't remember the rest of the game, but I do know the I lost.

League Placement : Bronze ;(

The remaining of the season ( only 2 weeks, started at the end of season 2) was just me mucking around.

Season 3:

I HAD MY FIRST WIN WOOOOT!!!! It was a pvt, i put 5 gates down and mass zealot, attacked at 5 mins (no warp gate, didn't know what it was:O)
I continued to do this, until I got top 8 bronze with 1.2k points.

Season 4: I GOT PROMOTED, SILVERRR HERE I COMEEEEE......
Then I found out we get a free NA account... OWYAAHHHHHHHH
My two mates and I decided we would make a clan for this new server, we all started accounts at the same time, we named ourselfs the following: Chez6Pool, ChezBigRush and finally me ChezCannon. We were the cheesing 3v3 team that everyone hates =).
I did my placement matches winning 4 out of 5 games, just four gating...

Got placed into platinum! ZOMG I WAS SOOO PROOOO.

I got smashed.....

Season 5: Demoted to gold, =*(

I started getting really into the game, I started watching major online tournaments and streams. One day I decided, I WILL LEARN MACRO!.. So from then on I worked on my FFE's my 3 gate sentry expand and my one gate expand, all these into 7 gate all in (Vses Terran and Zerg) I just four gated every PVP. I quickly climbed the ladder and reached the top spot. The day I got promoted, I pulled a sicky from school, and won 76 games during that day. This was 2 hours before season lock.

Season 6:

I hit a ceiling, I would win, 50/50 of my games and was not seeming to get any better. I decided, I would need some coaching. So I enquired with CoL.Min,
I'd watched his stream quite a lot.
After the 2 hours coaching, my gameplay completely changed, I learned valueable information such at Max min saturation is 16 on a base, constantly building probes, expanding at certain timings etc. I reached rank 2 in my division at the end of the season.

Season 7: Promoted to DIAMOND after the placement match, AWWWW YEAHHH, IM NOT A SCRUB ANYMORE =). I played about 300 games that season, finishing in the top 25 players of my division. I found out that I had a trend, I would either win a tonne in a row, or lose a tonne. I happened to tilt towards the end of the season....

Season 8: DEMOTION :OOOOOO
Demoted to platinum, made me rage so hard, I had to get back to Diamond, after 3 games I did so... Lucky me!

Then Blizzard World Champs Came along, I decided to Sign up for the open bracket at ACL melbourne.

It was an epic LAN, the first I had ever attended, had to get up at four in the morning just to get there by 9.. DAMN TRAINS :O.

The event went as follows

First Match: Vs TAKrUnch
Game 1: Nydus all in :O, lost the game
Game 2: I decided to go fast 3 with sentry immortals, Bad decision... If any of you were there, the lag was horrible for the first few hours of the event. Lag + forcefields = GG =*(. I rage quit the game, yelling out 'I CANT BLOODY MICRO' the people watching behind me laughed =/.
I was bumped into the Lower Bracket.

Second Match: Vs TaXanT
Game 1: COLOSUS ALL IN FOR THE WIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIINNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNN
Game 2: Proxy 2gate Vs Proxy 2 gate. I pulled all my probes and sent to his base, neither of could afford a nexus. He had 4 more zelots. GG.
Game 3: TaXanT goes for a gas steal, like I did in the first game. Im like screw this im four gating, plop a hidden pylon in his and 4gate. I win the game just as a dark shrine finishes, god im lucky. I advance to the next round.

Third and Final Match: Vs TorSpo0k :O

Game 1: 2 base colosus all in =)
Game 2: Some hectic stuff on Metropolis, I hold off his early pressure with 3gates and a robo (I was planning to all in him) I walk over to his base, he has tanks :/. I expand behind. Few minutes later spook does this epic contain at my natural. OH NOESSSSS He starts building a command center for a pf, during this time I break out with HT and immortals. 2 base Vs 2 Base. I kill off his third with zealots, that 'Never Die'. He keeps denying my additional bases, so in the end its 2base vs 2 base. Im trapped in the corner of the map, going archon zelot HT. I neeeeeeeeeeed storms. He emp's all my hts... I a-move admitting defeat. GG.

Game 3: Basically stuck on 2 base on shakuras, due to spo0k's epic drop play :/. Somehow my 2 archons end up in the middle of the map, and get instant sniped. I yell out, ' What the ****' people laugh.. I end up losing the game and the series 2-1. Bye Bye ACL. =(


At this stage, I didn't play on SEA, only on North America. I popped onto SEA just to check what's up. This account was still in silver league. I started talking to spo0k, and he suggested I should try out for Time Of Rising.

I get in (obviously:P) Now I really wanted Masters!.

Over the course of the next week, I probably played about 300 games + (addict much) and went from silver to Masters:O. Along the way, I beat my first gm 'Flaming Pork' I 7 gate all ind him - Sorry Dude!

And now comes today, after killing all dem diamond and masters scrubs Im finally Masters Top 8.

It goes to show, that it can be done, you CAN get from Bronze to Masters. It just takes a hell of a lot of work, and learning some nifty allins.
