I'm sitting here writing this one at 1:30am - I have to get up for work in a few hours, but this blog is long overdue. If I may, I present to the past 6 months of my life; the abridged works of TABJ.

The start of the year was a big upheaval in my life. I'd just finished high school and had been enjoying the life of someone who had absolutely no responsibilities except for turning up to work every couple of days and looking after the lady-friend. I received my acceptance for the University of Queensland (Bachelor of Science majoring in Physics) and promptly deferred until 2013.
My girlfriend and I decided upon moving from our home-town (Toowoomba) to Brisbane. I had my eyes set up getting used to living away from home before studying and she had her eyes set on getting away from her family (that's a story and a half right there).

On the day of ACL Gold Coast, we found out that we'd just been accepted for a private rental property in Daisy Hill - just South of Springwood and slightly East of stab-central (Woodridge). This itself laid the scene for the next 3 months of our lives together.
Work was the first hassle - my transfer from my previous job took 3 weeks to go through; three weeks that I spent sitting around the house with my savings dwindling ever-quicker.
After finally securing my job, I set out to save and managed to bank pretty much nothing. In between paying for things around the house that our house-mate was incapable of doing herself and buying enough food to stay alive, there wasn't much money left over.
As well as never helping with funds, our housemate ended up stealing from us, beating our cat (that little man is emasculating me more and more every day), leaving her mess around the house and hauling over new 'friends' freshly met on the internet. Things with her grew progressively more hostile as time went on. If it weren't for money, we probably would've jumped then, but it had to wait.
On the SC2 side of things, we had Optus internet (blame the women, not me) so I wasn't able to play SEA and I didn't end up having a huge amount of spare time once housekeeping was taken care of.

Three months later, our house-mate upped and left - kindly leaving us with the task of cleaning the house and fixing everything that the three of us had ruined. With a lack of monetary support from her and a clock that was ticking quicker than before, we were strung pretty thin by that point. Furthermore, work had dropped my hours from 38 to as low as 7 in a week. I jumped ship - my girlfriend had landed a job at Optus (thanks to my brother) and I slunk my way in there; ever-weary of telecommunications.

After a brief stint of staying with one of my brothers (one and a half weeks on a couch is magic for your back - just the wrong kind of magic) we organised to move in with friends; just South of Cleveland. After carting all of our junk from where it had been stored North-side all the way to the far Eastern suburbs of Brisbane, we finally settled in. Here we found a house where there was a lot less confrontation. Our cat roams freely throughout the house, only occasionally being stopped by an over-zealous house-mate who doesn't know where patting stops and swinging-a-cat-around-the-room-at-its-own-expense starts and nowadays a newly acquired puppy from the other two house-mates.
My girlfriend and I are considerably happier these days - time in the old house really took its toll on our relationship. We grew apart and felt as though our moment together might have been and gone. Thankfully, a little more financial security and a little less lesbian-rapist-house-mate makes for a much more loving environment.

I've finally started an online savings account after having realised that I've saved just about nothing over the past six months - I look back and wish that I'd done this about 4 and a half years ago when I started working. Nowadays I work full-time and rosters are topsy-turvy - this month in particular is riddled with split days off and very little time with the significant other (whether you consider that starcraft of the girlfriend, both are pretty much correct). Eventually I'll try to worm my way into an IT-based job, but until I have the capacity to do so, it's minimum wage for me.

I'm not 100% positive what the next 6 months hold in store for me, though I'll be stoked with just having some more cash laying around. My parents are off around the world and after noticing this, the master (I barely get to wear the pants) has decided that tax return time shall yield us a holiday together.

Finally, I managed to snag a place in Diamond tonight. I've essentially neglected ladder for the past 3 months, and even then I barely laddered since Decemeber last year. Perhaps in a few months I'll give our adorable Norwegian boulder a run for his money - however unlikely that is.

I have been thinking about making this blog for a while, so I do apologise for the hasty writing. Unfortunately, I don't currently have the mental fortitude to soldier through penning a seductively-worded parable. For now, however, this shall do.

On a final note; Dox, you can indeed "get a TABJ over here."

You have such a flair for writing, I really liked those sentences. Never knew you were from Toowoomba, I visited there once to go to a friends party, which got promptly raided by the police the next day lol. Glad things have picked up for you, UQ in 2013 is gonna be really fun!

Holler!

I really like these kinds of personal blogs, it's a great way to get to know people much better, rather than the usual "i laddered today and here's what i'm gonna do to improve" stuff. Glad to hear things are on the up for you man.

I remember you and your gf being like "uh, we have to go now we just got approved for a house" It's a shame it turned into such a crap experience! Best of luck now everything's calmed down man, you're gunna be so happy when you get that tax return!
