So since there's a recent push to start reviving this site, I thought I'd add some content and contribute a little bit.

So I got an e-mail from IEM today as seen below.

Now I know ESL have been teasing big things here for a while, but we finally have something specific to go on. The big announcement will be March 7th and we'll FINALLY know what great plans ESL have for eSports down under. Most importantly though: Will it involve StarCraft? Let's hope so!

God I hope sc2's involved. Compared to other Australian esports - we're not too far behind at all.

Since we've been blue-balled by Baldie since ACL Melbourne (2015) - it'd be nice to finally have a large event.

If it's something big, it probably won't have SC2 in it, might just be an ESL One Dota2 or CSGO event.

Regardless, hope it's in Melbourne so I can not go anyway.

Tweet today seems to imply it'll be Sydney, which makes sense if you want to attract international talent.

If there is SC2, i don't think it will be included as part of WCS (Not mentioned as part of 2 year WCS outlook), but hopefully there's a small side tournament. Perhaps if it's part of a big exhibition/venue, it would be worth doing. Fingers crossed!

Announcement has been made and it's exactly what was predicted: IEM Sydney with CS:GO. If you're interested still, the event is May 6th and 7th.

Venue is Qudos Bank Arena. Anyone that know it, think it could support multiple titles?
I'm thinking, if it's a traditional sports stadium type venue, may only be able to do the one game - CSGO

It's really just one big arena yeah. So practically no chance it'll be anything other than just CSGO.

Strange thing though. If there's one thing I've noticed from setting up the Melbourne StarCraft Community group it's that there's a lot of SC2 players out there who aren't necessarily part of the current known scene. These guys are pretty good and came out of the wood work when an FB group kind of reached out. Some good players rocked up to our first LAN last year. Point is - lots of great players are out there. They just need a beacon. Maybe it's too much of a risk for ESL but I'm pretty confident that if we keep putting things out there, they will come and eventually SC2 will find it's rightful place at the pinnacle of eSports.

Might be wishful thinking but just sayin' .
