Frustration and Ice suspended from OSC tournaments
Unfortunately Frustration and Ice have breached the OSC rules and code of conduct, and were proven to have engaged in deceitful actions during SEAcraft Weekly #41, and will be suspended.
Just to be clear, this is not a witch hunt, or an opportunity for people to rip into these guys. Evidence was collected of their guilt, both individuals had opportunities to present any evidence in their defence, and were given the chance to comment. They have been handed a punishment, publicly shamed, and if they wish to partake in our league afterwards, must abide by our conditions.
What happened:
Frustration was disqualified by Philosopher for spamming in the sc2 chat channel, after being asked to stop. Ice then suggested to Frustration that he play on his account to bypass the disqualification. "Ice" (Frustration) defeated Chase, and lost 1-2 to team-mate DarK.
There are quite a few things to consider about their actions.
-First off they tried to bypass the disqualification given by the SEAcraft admin. While the disqualification may seem harsh to some, let's take a second to consider that Philo is giving up his time, his money, and that of fellow community members to put on these events. Tournament chat channels are for the purpose of official matches, played for $'s and points, and should be treated seriously. Spamming chat disrupts other players and admins. I know some tournaments only allow scores to be posted, or questions directed to admins, which only they can answer. Also consider it can be confusing for those who use english as a second language. So there was reason and purpose behind such a decision.
-Additionally by playing under someone else's account you are effectively altering their ranking, and deceiving your opponents and community. Plus they tried to hide the fact this occurred.
-They disrespected the integrity and rules of our competition, the ruling of tournament admin, and breached the trust of our community and their peers.
-While some may just see SEAcraft, or any other one off tournament as just a bit of fun, they are part of a bigger picture. There are $'s on the line, and are collectively part of a growing league, which aims to provide a professional environment to the sport in the region. Last year we had $30000 in prizes, this year we aim for $50k+, upwards to $100k. We're starting to talk serious money, and peoples futures. If that's not enough, we have 2 new projects planned which dwarf anything done in our region thus far. The opportunities will be there for those who want to take them/be involved, and no one has a right to sabotage that!
Thanks to those who spent time collecting the evidence, and presenting it to the team. I haven't posted it here, as both players have admitted their guilt, but it was very detailed, and conclusive regardless of any admission.
Statement from Ice:
I'll start with a disclaimer saying that my actions are not anything related to the Dynasty E-sports StarCraft 2 team or the Dynasty E-Sports organisation. I would first like to apologise to Chase, i have already apologised privately to him but felt the need for a public apology. I would also like to apologise to the sc2sea scene for my actions, what i did was wrong and i realise that.
As some of you are already aware there have been accusations of cheating in the recent SEAcraft Weekly. These accusations are correct, but i didnt do it for personal gain, i did it for a friend. Frustration was dq'd from the SEAcraft and he was upset so i made him play on my account, He was reluctant but i made him do it. Again my gut was wrong i shouldn't of done that
-Frustration declined to comment
Punishment:
-Frustration will be banned from playing in all OSC tournaments for 8 weeks, and cannot acquire any OSC points in this time. The additioanly weeks are due to comments in chat and this thread, where it would seem Frustration might not be taking this as seriously as he should be. We hope he takes time to reflect further on his actions, and how he might want to act as part of this community. This is not a blind reactionary decision, Frustration and I had been talking before these comments were made, and it seems any advice was disregarded, and genuine sincerity, remorse or restraint hasn't been shown. I stand by the original 4 weeks given, if Frustration had of followed through on his end, but it does not seem to be the case.
-Ice will be banned from playing in all OSC tournaments for 4 weeks, and cannot acquire any OSC points in this time.
-Additionally both players will have OSC points stripped from their current total points acquired, Frustration 125, Ice 75.
-Both players will be ineligible for potential $ participation point prizes and sponsorship, but still can acquire points towards future rankings after their suspension.
-After the 4 week ban, both players can resume under probation, but will be required to submit every tournament replay for 4 months. Any further breach of OSC rules/etiquette will result in far harsher penalties.
Since both players have co-operated with our investigation, and have admitted their guilt, we wont seek to deny them from playing in any tournaments they have already registered for (that can be up to the individual admins to decide), and the 4 week ban will start on Monday April 13th. If they hadn't, or delayed the process, or if it occurred on more than just this occasion, it certainly would have been a far harsher punishment. There will be no more chances in the future!
We believe the actions of both players was a once off, and hasn't happened prior.
This verdict was determined by the OSC team, with input from SEAcraft and the sc2sea mod team.
4 weeks is that really all? After all the toxic crap frustration does?
This only relates to the circumstances mentioned above, which was a once off, and applies to all tournaments.
This verdict was determined by the OSC team, with input from SEAcraft and the sc2sea mod team, with conditions that must be met afterwards.
Any forum behaviour is irrelevant to this particular thread, and will be assessed by the sc2sea staff. We are cracking down on the over the top trolling/bm/toxicity type stuff as you put it, so he and others would be advised to smarten up, or will be dealt with accordingly.
I also want to make mention of how the Admin team were able to find guilt briefly as a deterrent for anyone thinking this is possible to get away with. APM increase spiked our suspicions but it was Hotkey analysis that confirmed everything. Not just which keys you hotkey things to, such as Nexus, army, tech buildings etc. But how you spam and press those hotkeys is basically as individual as a finger print. Ice's game vs Chase was a carbon copy of how Frustration plays.
If anyone has suspicions of smurfing in any SC2SEA or OSC tournament event, please contact SC2SEA Admins/Moderators or OSC Admins immediately with replays where possible.
Thanks to Eddie for his work in this matter and on behalf of Chase and fray accept Ice's apology and forgive him for his actions. Everyone deserves a 2nd chance and I hope we are proven right by giving these guys one.
I sincerely hope that all of the DynSL members involved, or otherwise, understand the gravity of this situation.
Whether you say it or not, Ice, this does affect Dynasty. It might not have involved the entire DynSL sc2 division, but it does give them a bad name/rep with this happening.
This will/would also have repercussions throughout the entire org.
I'm not trying to take stabs, or mock anything to do with Dynasty here, but I just... I just hope Frustration understands how wrong this is.
Massive props to Ice for handling this in the correct manner and thus lowering the amount of time Frustration and himself are banned from OSC tournaments.
I look forward to this fray vs DynSL clan war not only because of the rivalry between the teams, but because this is a chance for Ice and co. to begin anew and maybe earn a little respect.
(may have rambled on a bit, **** you, it's 12:30am)
4 weeks is nothing imo if I was still active and had a say in it I would suggest 3 months.
By now tho you don't have to set an example tho. plus from comments ice seems to regret his part, so can understand the lighter ban. The frustration attitude seems to be an ongoing attitude problem, if he does it again I'm sure Eddie will ban hammer him harder. #faithInEddie
Don't want to come across as biased. But i'm super impressed with the admins with this issue. I have been involved with similar shit on other sites in team leagues as a captain of a team (CTL for those who know of it) and its good to see the admins of sc2sea are fair and very capable in dealing with these issues. GJ admins
I certainly agree with Nirvana in that this is a very lenient punishment; however I understand that the team responsible for judging this matter's decision, and I agree with the reasons given for the leniency. It is an unfortunate situation for all, and I hope that we, as a community, are able to understand the level of deception flaunted by both Ice and Frustration both during and after this matter. I also hope that that we are able to forgive and move swiftly on from this ordeal with a minimal amount of flaming and bad manner.
I'm agreeing that the ban isn't harsh enough. 4 weeks isn't much. Not so much for Ice who has apologized to both chase and in the comment in this thread, but for Frustration who not only went and smurfed the account but then has gone taunting about it and rubbing it in. (with just a quick search under frustrations sc2sea chatbox archive.. note im writing this at 2 am so the yesterday is same night the thread was posted) :
Yesterday 8:58 PM: Worstpinsea: whats chase complaing about babies 4
Yesterday 8:58 PM: Worstpinsea: he lost to ice
Yesterday 8:58 PM: Worstpinsea: Then cried
Yesterday 8:00 PM: Worstpinsea: ice is better then chase
Yesterday 8:00 PM: Worstpinsea: u mad swarm?
Yesterday 8:00 PM: Worstpinsea: cause chase better then u
Yesterday 8:00 PM: Worstpinsea: which means ice better then u lel
Yesterday 5:51 PM: Worstpinsea: Ice > chase
Yesterday 12:06 AM: Worstpinsea: How did you lose to ice chase?
These are 4 occasion's I could find of frustration taunting about 'ice' beating chase and these are all from yesterday, let alone if there are any more through out the week since monday night. This took me a quick 2 minute search in the chatbox archive so there could be more that I missed.
Does this look like some one showing contrition, who is sorry for his action's. That he hasn't apologised to either chase personally or in this thread I do think becomes relevant. I DONT think he should get only 4 weeks, when his being a smug ass like this. It is the sc2sea/OSC staff's choice, but I don't think this sort of behavior should be able to slide bye.

In light of certain comments in chat and this thread, it would seem Frustration might not be taking this as seriously as he should be.
Another 4 weeks suspension will be given, where we hope he takes time to reflect further on his actions, and how he might want to act as part of this community. Seriously? This should be a multi-month site ban. Unbelievable.

I'm glad his general disregard for what has happened isn't being taken lightly.
Hahaha the other day Ice was going all "I beat Chase" and I've never been suspicious of anything so fast.
Good to see my suspicions rang true (for one). I think Eddie has justified his reasons for the punishment, however lenient it might be. No point turning this place into Salem and hunting witches for this one.

Sorry ice but that's not how things work, I know you apologised and that's cool that you did but these actions unfortunately do reflect directly on what people will think of Dynasty, especially with you being the manager.
