Welcome to the sc2sea.com GPD Open.

The sc2sea GPD is a 64 player, single elimination tournament.
It will be conducted every 1st and 3rd Sunday of each month.
If there is a major tournament on that particular Sunday, the tournament may be postponed by a week (look out for annoucements).

The winner of each GPD open is awarded with one hour of professional coaching from a coach in this thread (link) . Winner should contact the coach directly, state which GPD Open he/she had won, preferably before each GPD Open Season ends.

RULES AND REGULATIONS

+ [Tournament Eligibility] +

• Players must have their own SEA account; playing on another's account is not allowed.
• You must be , or on any of the 4 servers (SEA, NA, KR or EU).
• You should not be and above in this season (2015 Season 1) and/or had been in the last (2014 Season 4) on ANY server. *subject to change/update each season*
• If you have achieved on any server in HOTS, you will not be allowed to join. The only exception being if you have achieved on only SEA server before Season 2 2014 but not been since (SEA or any other server, you will be allowed to join this tournament).
• Example : If you were briefly on SEA server even though on all other servers in Dec 2013 or Jan 2014 but not past Season 1 2014 since and never been on any other server and have satisfied above conditions, you will be allowed to take part in the GPD Opens.

• If you are joining this tournament for the first time, you are encouraged to post the links for your valid b.net sc2 profiles on the servers you play on in the signup thread.
• If the Admins should request for it during the tournament, please cooperate.
• It may be necessary for the Admins to do a quick verification especially when questions have been raised with regards to your league. Failure to do so or to cooperate, will be deem suspicious and you will be disqualified from the tournament.
• Smurfing and Cheating will result in a ban from the GPD Opens.

• Winners of consecutive (back-to-back) GPD opens are respectfully asked to skip a week before joining the GPD Opens again.

+ [Contacting opponents and time limit] +

• You must contact your opponent on Battle.net preferably by being in the group “sc2seaGPD” to play your matches.
• All games should be played on SEA [priority server] unless both players agree to play on NA and have informed an admin. You must both then report back immediately.
• ALL players are given 15 minutes to contact their opponent.
• Anyone that cannot be contacted will be disqualified.
• If a player cannot be contacted in 15 minutes because of an unavoidable real life event but was able to get someone to contact an Admin or gave notice by pming someone of the delay, they will be given an additional 10 minutes before disqualification.

• Players must play your Ranked 1v1 Ladder race throughout the tournament.
• If you intend to play a ladder race different from your main, please inform an Admin to seek permission.
• players are not allowed to race pick unless an Admin has been informed and permission given prior to the games to be played.

+ [Disconnect or away for known reason] +

[LIST][*]If any player disconnects, use the “Recover from Replay” feature to continue the game. This applies in the event of a second disconnect.[*]If the player has gone offline for more than 10 minutes, inform an Admin immediately[*]If the player continues to disconnect, the opponent may be awarded the match.[*]If the player has given a valid and acceptable reason to be away in between matches or games, the acceptable wait time will be maximum 15 minutes or by the goodwill of his/her opponent before disqualification. The admins will consider each case separately. Delays are not preferred whenever possible.

• Bad manners are not tolerated.
• Pauses should be notified and not exceed 5-10 minutes depending on the reason for the said pause.
• BMing or excessive pausing in game will result in a warning.
• Persistent BMing will result in a disqualification.
• BMing includes racist, hateful or excessively derogatory language will result in a disqualification and a review to impose either a timed or full ban.

Any disputes will be handled by the Admins after reviewing all associated replays.
Any question(s) can be directed at the Admins.
Please be honest and truthful to ensure the best experience for all.
All participants are encouraged to keep their replays for at least a week.
Smurfing and/or hacking will result in a disqualification and ban from subsequent tournaments

Round of 64 : Inferno Pools (BO1)
Round of 32 : Expedition Lost (BO1)
Round of 16 : Deadwing LE (BO3)
Round of 8 : Catallena LE (BO3)
Semi-finals : King Sejong Station LE (BO3)
Finals : Overgrowth LE (BO3/5)

Loser picks next map in Best of 3 or 5 series.
Grand Finals can be either a Best of 5 or a Best of 3 series.
Maps may not be repeated in the same series.
For all Best of 3/5 series, players are allowed to veto 1 map.

GPD Cup
Date : 1 March, 2015, Sunday
Time : 6pm AEST; 4pm SGT; 8pm NZT

For Variety and to add some elements of Surprise, the prize pool may vary for each GPD Cup.
Format : Double Elimination
All spots must be taken.
So for all available spots or if any of the qualified players are unable to make it, even if it is on the actual day, wild card players will take their spots. This GPD cup could see wildcard invites from past top 4 players from the last GPD cups (maybe, possibly, who knows )

Hey guys,

Just wondering what you all think about SouL being able to sign up for GPD's. At this stage he cant sign up for GPD's because he got SEA GM last season after a couple of games.. (He was never masters before getting GM). He also hasn't been master for 2-3 seasons now on NA.

What we need for SouL to be able to signup, is for the majority of us to agree to him being able to play in GPD's. This doesn't mean he will sign up and play in them, but at this stage he cant even sign up at all due to the rules..

SouL played over 200 games on NA in Diamond last season and didnt break into Masters. Before that it was 2 seasons before he was low masters and another year before he was masters the first time.

Let me know what you all think, either way for or against.. I just dont see why we should be excluding people from participating in a FRIENDLY tournament when they're our skill level.

The suggestion to approach this is also found in the chatbox around those time stamps.

Shayne and Deth I believe, have both decided to have games vs Soul and maybe others, to perhaps have a better idea about Soul's playing level for recommending further. I appreciate that.

It is not easy for me to dismiss Souls achievements when even in some major tournaments where he has, even if he was just really lucky, taken games off notable players as well as his league achievements in general, ie the SEA gm bits achieved in 2014. If you look at this from the other GPD participants pov, it can be quite uncomfortable.

Also notable is he did achieve masters as well even though once but that isnt as crucial because it is at least 2 seasons ago and not last season. And by that part of the rules, he is cleared.

It isn't about Soul per say. This is NOT personal. But I have the responsibility to justify to all participants. And as long as I can justify to them and not just tell them SEA doesnt matter at all cos it isnt real , there is no reason why Soul cant play.

This is also not an exception that I'm doing this with regards to Soul. My team and I do do personal checks on a lot of players which my team and those involved are aware of. I am not going to list all of the peoples involved to protect privacy and there is no reason to shame the ones who had to be removed from the tournaments unless they are idiotic.

My mistake was the choice of build for the map. Only I would pick a roach rush for Inferno Pools
(I got stubborn and stupid, forgetting just how large Inferno Pools actually is.)
I'm not the giving up kind of guy. You'll see me at more of these =D

I'm currently practising the other races' builds to get a better feel for how Terran and Protoss work =D
