Nope, this is not another Open. This is a brand new tournament related to . Ever wanted to play in a tournament with a Dual Tournament format in group stages, then advance with a close 2-1 win over your opponent to the next stage? Now is the chance for you to experience that as a player!
Everyone deserves some attention. To keep the community motivated to play more, and in an effort to hopefully increase the overall skill level of , this tournament is here to serve its purpose! I have seen people improving since GPDL Season 1 days, and I hope to achieve the same for this season.
I don't say, do I? But yes, here comes the concern of ex-. For this season, you cannot participate if you've been in 2014 Season 1 or 2.
For people who primarily ladder only on KR, players are allowed because the dynamics aren't the same as compared to the previous season anymore.
In regards to smurfing, I wouldn't really be checking hard on to see if anyone is smurfing. I'd just go by suspicion then check on you if I think you're a smurf (i.e. no clan, macro better than Flash, micro better than JD, etc.) Do consider the following if you're thinking of smurfing in this low-prize-money tournament:
1. You may have won the whole tournament full of . You have gained your momentary recognition as winner of GPDL Season 2. But, when you have been discovered that you're a smurf, is it going to be that great after all? You can probably do that, but I would prefer the glory of winning the tournament going to someone who really deserves it.
2. If you want to feel good about beating up some , why not just hit the ladder with a fresh account (borrow from someone, hop on to another server) and get to ?
3. You're gonna have to devote yourself every single week till the end of the tournament. Because you're gonna win it all eventually right? Do not waste your time...
To register, simply post your IGN. Battle.net profile page of your most laddered account (AM or KR or SEA, all is fine) and your Skype account (compulsory!) in the comments.
Registration ends 6 July 2014 9:59PM SGT, 11:59PM AEST
As of the registration end, your account must be in , or you'll be automatically disqualified. Following which, after the registration ends, you are free to train hard and try to promote to . Like mentioned before, the aim of this tournament is to improve the overall skill level of players currently in . If you work hard once the registration ends and get promoted to , shouldn't you then be deserving of winning the tournament because of the blood, sweat, and tears you've put into it?
people, do stick around and look at this thread. If we do not have enough people, we will allow you to sign up as well!
The schedule is projected as follows:
Ro52: By 20 July 2014 9:59PM SGT, 11:59PM AEST

Please don't be a douchebag by disagreeing to playing on another server when you actually can. If the disagreement persists, the set must be played out or a walkover will be given to the player not wanting to play on SEA.
Round robin groups are drafted, with seedings being watered down from to . Players play each other once in a Bo3, with WCS vetoes for the maps. Top 4 from each group advances to the Ro32.
Ro32 - Dual Tourmament Format
Players are drafted into their groups based on what placing they finished in the Ro52. Top 2 from each group advance to the Ro16.

Semi Finals: Bo7 Single Elimination
Matches will be played one at a time, unless there is more than 1 caster.

Additionally, the highest placed player will receive a $10 incentive as well!
We have the rights to deny your prize if we have enough reasons to think you are smurfing / hacking.
-----------
Wow, is someone gonna cast all the games live as the players are playing? How are we going to cover all the game?
Look back at the times when the games are played. Unfortunately (or fortunately?) for Ro69 to Ro16, players would only need to report the results and send in their replays, and the results will be updated on the Liquipedia page. Anyone can cast the games once the replays are out.
Skype groups will be created for each group and each new group in the Ro16. Players will be able to communicate with each other there and coordinate when they want to play the games out. Groups that do not finish their games will have the results automatically decided by seeding, unless it is an issue of inactivity where the lower seeded player have always been contacting the higher seeded player but to no avail.
From the Quarter Finals onward, games will be played live at the timing. Anyone can volunteer to cast. If we have more than one caster, we can allow more games to go on at once.
I hope none of you skipped any of those parts, because each section contains important information for the participants to know of (i.e. how to register, when is it). I apologise if the whole post looks very disorganised, or too organised (due to the sheer amount of spoilers).

It is with great pleasure that I announce, breadfan will be generously donating $60 to the prize pool! So essentially, the prize pool has been doubled for the top 3 placings. In addition, he will be funding the Incentive, where the highest player placed in the tournament will get the $10. So players, don't be worried that you may not win the whole thing, there's still something to work for!
Looking forward to more sign ups, we're gonna revamp how the rounds before Ro16 will work!

Is Skype mandatory? I believe using the PM feature of sc2sea much more practical.
The admins of course. I'll be releasing admin details later on, depending on how much manpower is needed to facilitate Ro69.

Group chats will be made for every group, so you guys can be updated who won etc., and find your opponent for every possible round of your group. Liquipedia will be updated as regularly as possible of course. I don't see a better way of communicating already.
Quick update: Prize pool has been updated. Thanks to eCKo`Apocalypse for generously donating $50 to the prize pool! Prize pool is now up to $150, huge thanks to the community for making it this big.
Also, deadline for Ro69 has been updated because of possible format changes, and also I will need a day or two to update the groups and add all of you into Skype groups, so it's only fair that I give you all more time to finish. Since it falls on the same weekend as ACL, it's sort of like a week and a bit more for you guys to finish, so yep, fair? Fair.
Also also, huge thanks to Namakaye & Soundwave for helping me update Liquipedia. I was about to do it the same time as I updated the groups, but you were way ahead.
EDIT: ARE YOU HAPPY SOUNDWAVE

Really, it looks like all 5 might be in with a very good shot. Very solid GoD contender.
Group B:
1 Player previously GM
5 Players previously diamond
I'd say one of the diamond players stands out above the rest as a favourite, which isn't to say that's how it will go down, but I expect to clean up on SEAbet if it gets put up. Very solid GoD contender.
Group C:
2 Players previously masters
4 players currently or previously diamond
Very solid GoD contender.
Group D: - Group of Death
1 Former GM and KR masters
1 Former Masters
1 current KR diamond
2 regular diamonds
The former masters player is one of the platinums, really skyrocketing this group up in intensity factor. It's my post-analysis pick for group of death.
Group E:
3 diamonds
1 KR diamond
Don't think it's a contender for group of death, it's fairly even but is hurt by having only 6 in the group
Group F:
1 current KR diamond player
1 former GM (and current KR diamond)
2 current regular diamonds
I think this group has a really strong top 2 players and with 2 spots available to advance I think these guys are favourites.
Group G:
Not rated because it's my group. Deal with it.
Group H:
4 diamonds
One of these diamonds is formerly GM, but he's terribad and won't make it out of his group anyway. Biggest X factor is the plat random player (I guarantee he has a race or maybe even a couple of different matchups where he is a good match for a diamond player) but with just 6 in the group, it's not as strong a Group of Death contender.
Apologies for my stupidity, but how exactly do I join the skype group that has been made for me group?
Or do I just manually add everyones skype names myself?

After some discussion with some people whom I'll not name, I've decided to extend the tournament to a Ro32. Top 4 from the Ro52 groups will advance to the next stage, and the seeding for the following groups will be as such:
Example:
Group A 1st vs Group D 4th
Group B 2nd vs Group C 3rd
Liquipedia will be updated as soon as possible (aka right now). The rationale behind this was, it seemed to be a little too harsh on the players that only Top 2 advanced from their groups, especially for people in the group of death. Also, removing more than 50% of the participants isn't very kind as well. It was either removing ~50% of the players (hold a Ro24) or this, so I've decided to go ahead with this. Not many games have been played yet, so I assume the impact of the change wouldn't be that much. Have fun and enjoy the remaining games!

I really love this change. With a new season and new maps to get used to, it's pretty stressful lining up games when you feel like you'll already need to play at your best to beat quality opponents. Now, there's a little breathing room - losing one match you feel you need to win doesn't necessarily cost you your whole tournament run.
Plus, it gives more people a shot at the GSL-style grouping, which is awesome!

I haz idea... It probably won't work for the Ro32.. but for the Ro16 can we do group selection? RNG for the 1st placing players from the Ro32 to be split over each group and in order select someone to join their group, then that person picks etc...????

Might consider, did this in Season 1 but didn't intend to do this for Season 2. It kinda saves the trouble for people if we do auto-draft, so 16 people need not meet all at the same time. I'll consider! Having more people support this idea would sway my stand more too.

slight issue - That link is to my NA account, does any1 know How I link a different server stats/Ladders? I am gold/plat in SEA....
Is there some place other than skype everyone is meeting up? I've messaged everyone on skype multiple times over that past weeks and never heard back. Not able to play for a day or two now.

Nope, hope you get your matches in :S
Elusory monitors the skype chat groups though so best bet if you're concerned, talk to him directly.

There's the group chat for that reason... You've only messaged once on Tuesday, never heard from you since then from that group.
Anyway, time's up for Ro52. I'll be going through the walkovers now and invite you guys to your next group ASAP (for those who make it)!
Well done to Group G, the only group who managed to finish all their matches!

Ive also messaged everyone privately through skype after I didnt hear back from anyone. Only ever heard back from Slayer. Oh well. Consider yourselves lucky
Today, we have our first Ro32 advancer and he is none other than our local eSports saviour, Eddie!
Also, we have a ToR kill coming up with Spook and Zenabi facing off in the losers match of Group H.
Anyway, just wanna let all Ro32 players know that if you're not contactable by Saturday (some time of the day), your matches will be forfeited. This is so players in your group still have time to finish their remaining matches.
Yay, it's the weekends and we already have 6 confirmed advancers. This post's purpose is to let everyone know that Ro16 groups will be following the GSL's style of picking your group. More details will be released to the advancers themselves. Stay tuned to see your Ro16 groups!
As the Ro32 comes to a close, I've decided to delay the Ro16 by a week. The rationale behind this is to allow people to have time to pick their groups (hopefully it can be done in a day), and then prepare for theie matches since it's the serious part of the tournament already.
Advancers, please be active on Skype for tomorrow! It can be on your mobile, I need you guys to be online so you all can pick your groups ASAP. I will be making the groups for the advancers earliest 11PM AEST f everyone has done their groups by then. More details of how to pick your groups will be in that chat, so stay tuned!
Can i get someone from each group to check the liquipedia and make sure all the results from their groups are up to date and notify me if there and any extra/incorrect results
Edit: just to make sure everything is up to date incase eulosry missed something/hasn't updated yet

Namakaye-I GOT THIS!! Part of x5's Academy and Clans IXL and sR 2.0. herO #1. Editor
I had to go to Brisbane yesterday for work and came straight to work down here this morning. Won't be home till tonight. Can probably squeeze in a series sometime tonight, otherwise I'll be on Sunday afternoon around 5 to play all games.
The time and date for the matches will be made known once players have confirmed when they can play. It is likely to be held on both Saturday and Sunday, 2 matches each day. Put down your predictions in the posts below to rustle some jimmies!
To those who have been eliminated already, GPDL S3 awaits you.
Sunday 7 September 2014 5PM AEST
Eddie v.s. coolbeans
7 September 2014 6:00 PM AEDT
Stream: Any volunteers?
Come tune in for this epic show match! coolbeans is ahead of Eddie in terms of series, having met twice before. Once in the Round of 52, the other in the Round of 16. Who will win this time, in a Best of 7 settings? Winner will earn himself a deserved $15 for fighting so long.
With no stream today, there were some good games missed. On top of that, it was a good series too. The new eCKo eSports academy player coolbeans was able to take down Eddie, earning himself $15! Great performance at eCKo eSports LAN, and now GPDL Season 2. Looking forward to see this guy do more in the future!
This is the Grand Finals! Who will walk away with a prize money more than most decent players here have earned? Be sure to tune in and end your weekend with a bang!
Unfortunately, stream is cancelled because 3 major tournaments are going on at thw moment, and Philosopher's Battle.net client is not working properly.
