The OSC team and Team Exile 5 are partnering together to bring you this new bimonthly SEA only tournament.

The aim of this tournament is to showcase and support the up and coming players in our region.
2/3 will be $250+ invitationals, and 1/3 will be an $350+ Open Challenge edition.

Real gamers play starcraft! It's all about passion and dedication. Practice and discipline. Going head to head with a direct opponent. Doing your best and striving to be the best. The pursuit of excellence. It's not a game for casuals, it's a sport for champions!

However it can very hard to have a breakout tournament, let alone win one, so the SEA Rising Star will be your place to shine and battle against your peers!

We hope this tournament will encourage more participation and give opportunities to the next generation of stars. The SEA Rising Star is a stepping stone towards greater glory, championships, sponsors, teams, etc.

Players who have qualified for WCS, placed top 3 at an ACL Championship, won a SEA Rising Star Open Challenge, or won a Masters Cup are already proven champions, so unfortunately not able to participate in SEA Rising Star series.

Since this is an invitational, there will be no OSC points awarded for placement, however, standard rules apply for bonus points if you defeat a higher ranked player in a series.

Oseanic StarCraft 2 Championship Series

SEA Rising Star is a partnered tournament of the Oseanic StarCraft 2 Championship Series (OSC). OSC is the SEA regional championship, which follows a yearly season format, where players earn points for placing in all partnered tournaments. The top 32 players ranked via SEA Power Rankings / OSC Player Leader board at the end of the season are then invited to play in the Grand Finale to determine the yearly champion!

PiG was 2013's Champion, taking out the $2100 finals series.

Without these companies contributing to our tournament it's fair to say the prizepool would be far smaller. But it's not just about the $'s. All these companies have a long history of supporting Starcraft 2 and esports in SEA. They care about the scene and our community. So many thanks to them all! Self titled Protoss 'Best in the West' is back from retirement and starting to get some results/form to live up to the name! Showing improved manner + skill, Frustration is definitely back with a vengeance, already accumulating the 2nd most OSC Scalp points (for defeating higher ranked opponents), showing he can match it with anyone. His strong PvZ should serve him well in this tournament.

Yes you (and the winner of this edition) can still play in both versions. Back to back invites is unlikely though. It's only the Open Challenge that is a one time deal.

Formally known as Voices, or TA.Spud, Rufus is an old school gamer, who has been in our scene since the dawn of time! He represented Archaic esports when the game was released in WoL, and his competitive roots go further back, all the way back to SC Vanilla. Currently plays for AxS Outsourced, he tends not to partake in many online events, so will be a bit of a dark horse in this tournament.

SouL/AkirA, is one of the most dedicated members in our community! He is currently ranked 2nd in #Dedication (for most games played), up from 5th place last season. Outside of his own practice, Jessie is well known as the leader of AxiS Outsourced, and it's a credit to him that the clan has become one of the largest and most active in SEA. He can often be found hanging around twitch chat channels supporting sc2sea members. This guy has #passion! He temporarily switched to Zerg, but is now back playing his main race, and will be keen to cause a few upsets in this tournament.

One half of the new powerhouse SEA casting duo, Pox has been a high level player for many years. Can beat most of his peers, but so far online tournament success has eluded him. The dark templar protoss of Melbourne - He sort of hides in the shadows, and is rarely seen at lans to date. Watch out if he does attend though, as this guy has proven he's got the skill to match it with the elite! Fighto has numerous strong performances online, including some deep runs in Masters Cups and SEAcraft Weeklies. Won a SYF weekly earlier in this season. Is highly ranked in OSC, and should go far in this Rising Star.

Very solid Melbourne zerg, who often flies under the radar. Underestimate him at your own peril! As his name implies, he'll pick you off with precision and skill! Recently came 2nd in his group at ACL Brisbane, and finished in 8th place in the championship bracket! In May he all killed Frenetic Array 5-0 (Eros, Wally, HuT, Crimson, + Alopex). If he brings that form into this tournament he will definitely be eyeing off the $'s.

JaBiTo

When active, this Filipino Terran is one of the top Terrans in SEA. Last year he finished ranked 26th in the yearly OSC rankings. JaBiTo's probably a little unlucky, often placing 2nd behind ex-teammate EnDerr in local tournaments (who is one of the top couple players in the region), thus being denied some of the credit and recognition he deserves. We haven't seen much of him in 2014, so hopefully he can still put on a show for all the fans.

Players have been seeded via OSC rankings. Top 4 seeded one round ahead.
This format was quite successful in the first invitational. We had a lot of close series, and nearly everyone was casted. It also looks a lot better on liquipedia without the challonge walkovers
