Man you are getting way too ahead of yourself. I never thought of how to win certain match ups until i was gold, etc. I saw you play online, you just build whatever. Use 1 proper build from the net for a week and trust me, you'll start learning.
@JP: With time, and possibly the release of Heart of the Swarm, I may make a return. Watch this space...
@Aean: The reason I build whatever is because once my BO is done I have no real plan of what to do. No strategy survives contact with the enemy. And what MACRO-BASED (i.e. not an all-in/cheese) strategy would you suggest?
@clock: How 'bout in, say... half an hour? Can't guarantee the Skype, though... it's temperamental.
@Aztec: 15, 16 in June. And I'm doing my school certificate this year, so added stress isn't needed.

Dont start a macro style of terran. I didnt even know what macro/micro was when i was at your level. Macro styles take longer to learn then aggresive styles. You need to learn the basic mechanics of the game first.
Okay, so what one strategy would you recommend I Iearn? Including army composition, when to push and expand, what to do if/when my push fails, etc. Detail is good.

Ill teach you one build order which i want you to learn, itll help. Youll be losing here and there from rushes, you need to learn to defend against them. Fast cloaked banshee, get online and we'll talk more.
I felt myself asking questions like, how the heck do I win vs this race, what do I do vs build X, etc... It got me really annoyed sometimes, but now I see it as just another challenge to work on.
I was afraid of laddering entirely and tried to find a way in order to really not care whether I win or lose, but still learn from it, in order to get the most effective use of time. That only came with massing up games.
I was in every BSG up until I started organising BSGs and 2v2 tournies for sc2sea.com. I got smashed in every BSG.
Some strategies I use people tell me not to use, and instead go for the standard playstyle for the matchup. I later end up completely destroying some players with the same strategies.
I still feel like my decision making is to blame whenever I lose, and not the fact that my opponent is better than me. But Im now platinum league, despite all of those things. I think a lot of players are in generally the same boat, you just have to improve your game bit by bit.
Tbh, the only way to improve is to play a lot of meaningful games. The only way to get up in leagues is to play a lot of games and win a lot. The only way to win a lot is to improve. But this takes some practice to get right as it is. If you dont feel happy doing that process, then either look for a solution or quit. But I still see there being solutions possible for you, that are easier than what you are probably guessing.
It shouldn't affect your study that much if you play sc2 for like an hour or two a day. There are a lot of players that only have times for about 5 games a day, but then they analyse their games very closely afterwards, and pick out what they need to improve on. Maybe just two or three things to improve on. Then the next time they play, they are a LITTLE bit better. Over time, you can end up being better than mass-gamers.
Edit: Also, add me on skype if you want, I'll be on every now and then. My username is Cubetastic
@Spartaz: I can't seem to grasp Zerg mechanics like spreading creep, spitting larva, spreading overlords and macro-ing my base properly. But on the other hand, I played Protoss a while back so I know basically what they can do... VERY basically...
@derpy: I have been focussing on Terran for the past month or two, and a little more recently, straight-up MMM, but it seems I can only win if I pull off a flawless opening, and even then I struggle in TvT.
Also, my build order was taken from Liquipedia, so I can't blame that.
Ironically, I decided to switch to Protoss for a while, see if I prefer them to Terran. I played a few custom games to refresh myself on their mechanics but when I clicked Find Ladder Match I didn't realise I still had Terran selected as my ladder race.
So I went into TvT (previously my worst match-up) and thought "Screw it, I just want this match to end, I'll pump Marines from 4 Barracks, 3 with Reactor and 1 with Tech Lab, and see how I go."
Well, I won. He went MMM, but I just kept the pressure on him until he couldn't keep up. I managed to delay his natural expo so I think that was a major advantage.
Lost three times in a row, first to Zerglings, then mass Mutas, then a DT drop. All from Bronze players with < 100 games under their belts.
In the first two I tried to macro and got beat down. The 'Ling player had a 13-14 pool, and just sent waves of Zerglings at me. The Muta player was on one base when I was on two and I still lost, even after pushing his base twice with 2 Immortals and 8-ish Stalkers each time. In the final match my macro did squat as he just killed all my workers and took out my main Nexus and most of my Pylons before I was able to get out some cannons.
Seems to me that I need more than freakin' macro to get out of Bronze!
Actually all I did from like rank 20 to rank 5 in Bronze league was to mmball/mmm lol. It's so cheat X_X What's your current build order? I only follow one strictly up to when I get my Orbital Command at 15 food. After that I more or less wing it as Terran.
After playing about 4 hours of Protoss I'm really disliking it. Their high unit costs, long build times and small-ish armies just aren't my style. I'm going back to Terran.
@Fors: Before, when I played Terran, I was trying to do an MMM build but kinda winging it. In my brief stint as Toss I tried to 3 Gate Robo with mixed results. Now I'm back to Terran, and sources say that 3 Rax MM Ball is the way to go, transitioning into MMM if I don't win outright.
Yeah, just 3 rax every game. When I was in bronze I hit a wall for a while, until I discovered a good 3 rax timing push, and doing that really helped me move up. I suspect you may be losing simply because you don't have confidence with your build and when to attack. In bronze not many players would be able to hold off a 7-8 minute well executed 3 rax stim push no matter what their race. Just make sure to scout them to know which attachments to use. E.g. TvP, you may think you can just get two techlabs one reactor to pump mostly marauders, but then you get hit with a few void rays. :/
Even though I'm a bit late to the thread, I'm still going to add my little input, haha! Don't give up on SCII, just look at it from a different mind-set; for instance - don't preoccupy yourself with how important winning is; and how detrimental losing is, don't bother yourself with the thought of potential promotion or how long it may take you to reach diamond/masters.
Try to just focus on having fun and improving with every game you play (win or lose) and trust me you'll have a much more fun time than if you let the aforementioned factors plague your mind before, during and after every game
all i did from bronze to gold was firstly cheese then another one is make 200/200 blink stalker armies and just focus on macro it may seem cheap but it can work because they wont have the macro to keep making armies when u can just warp in an armie in seconds
