OK….. LET’S GET TO THE POINT!

Greetings and salutations my fellow SC2SEA members! I am delighted to announce the beginning of my tournaments. What I am doing here may seem a bit ambitious for my first attempt but hey… I like to jump in feet first!

I am no newb when it comes to organizing tournaments so I can promise to you all a smooth running and fun tournament!

Now the more eagle eyed amongst you may have noticed something very interesting… namely the prize pool! The $100 prize pool has been cobbled together by various members in Eternal eSports so thank you guys!

And thank you to Eddie who is allowing me to offer OSC points into the bargain! So what are you all waiting for! Get in!

So now you are wondering… how the hell do I get involved here??

ELIGIBILITY

• This tournament is open to all members of this community who own an account on any server that is at Masters or Grandmasters league (don’t worry everyone you will ALL eventually have a chance in future tournaments!)
  
  
• Diamond league players are welcome to sign up as well. However, Diamond league players will act as placeholders. If a GM/M player signs up the last diamond to sign up will lose the spot.

NB: If there are 3 or more diamonds in this tournament a small cash prize equal to 10% of the prize pool will be awarded to the diamond who progresses the deepest into the tournament. In case of a tie the diamonds will play a Best of 3.

TOURNAMENT FORMAT

The ‘host server’ for this tournament will be the SEA region. Players may move to another region by mutual agreement however all results need to be reported to Balimaar (me).

The tournament will start on Saturday 5th April at 7PM AEDT, 9PM NZDT, 4PM SGT.
To facilitate a smooth start players are asked to join the BassFishOpen channel on SEA 15 minutes prior to the start time.

Players will be seeded according to their rank in the OSC standings.

Players are expected to save their replays for a week after their matches to aid in mediating disputes and rooting out those sad sad people…. the hackers! Failure to produce a replay within a reasonable timeframe may result in a DQ.

The map pool will be the current season’s ladder maps.

Round of 64 – Best of 1 on Daedalus Point
Round of 32 – Best of 1 Habitation Station LE
Round of 16 – Best of 3 Heavy Rain LE
Round of 8 – Best of 3 on Yeonsu
Semi-Finals – Best of 5* on Alterzim Stronghold TE
Grand Final – Best of 7* on Frost LE

The loser of any match in a series may choose the next map from the map pool.

*For the Semi-Finals the players may choose to play either a Best of 3 or a Best of 5.
*For the Grand Final the players may choose to play either a Best of 5 or a Best of 7.

PRIZE POOL

This is a winner-takes-all-the-cash tournament!
Now $100 is only the default amount. The full prize pool will be calculated as follows:

Prize Pool = 100 + 50*((number of sign ups – no shows)/64)

In other words… if this tournament gets the full 64 players and EVERYONE shows up the prize pool can be as high as $150!

150!As I mentioned above, the legendary Eddie is allowing me to offer OSC points! Here is what you can earn:

1st- 85
2nd- 50
3rd- 25
4th- 15
5-8th- 5 each
9-16th 2.5 each

He is a solid caster and I am sure he is well up to the task of keeping us informed and entertained during the tournament.

Mainly because I want to focus on running a smooth tournament and also I have to watch my internet quota haha! That stream last night set me back 5GB (I’ve still got plenty wiggle room but need to keep an eye on these things!)

All the best in making this a success! Great to see more tournaments coming up.

Only thing I have to comment about is the map pool. Ultimately it's up to your decision, but I feel it's always nice to give the players a form of veto because I'm sure they all don't play every map on the ladder.

Firstly I have to say: lesson learned!

I will actually look at the calendar and see if my tournament will bump into a major Pro tournament before I click post! So many walkovers in the first couple rounds.

SOME of those walkovers were due to RL commitments but most of them were my fault. So my apologies to those guys who missed out because of my error.

Then again...

those that took part showed TRUE #dedication!

Pending an explanation ONE player might be barred from my future tournies. I won't name names until I get the player's response.

It was rather unfortunate that Duckville's internet stuffed his stream up during the FINAL of all times But our finalists carried on!
