Hey people, a few things that I would want as many people to give feedback about. I think they are ranked in order of importance.
1. Rethinking league distribution
What should the next season be like? Time to include ? Remove ? Or make it an open format? Also, how much of ex-blahblah should we allow? Well, there's the "new league distribution" chart to follow now.
2. Fixed schedule matches (Quarters onwards)
This has been a big problem in the running of this tournament. For the people below , we are generally considered to be "casuals", thus not being able to commit our time to StarCraft as and when we want to. So fixed schedules seems to be an issue for some of us to follow. For each week we always had people not showing up. I'm thinking if the whole tournament should just be done like how the Ro32 and Ro16 are done (give the players a week to finish, then get the players to report the score). I'm leaning more towards the side of not having a fixed schedule anymore.
3. Broadcasting of this tournament
For me, until this tournament includes , a stream for whatever round shouldn't be up at all. For the 3rd place match, there was 0 viewers the whole time and it was on a Sunday. I felt kinda sad for the people who were casting it because their efforts were just for naught. Sorry, I meant I felt extremely sad and bad for the people involved.
4. Any other feedback you would like to bring up, post it below. If it's worth listing it in the OP I'll bring it up.
Thank you for reading through this, hope to have a constructive discussion to help improve the next season of a similar tournament!
feels like bad move with the B/S/G/P/D Team League that is almost running.
I feel like Plat and about players (yes.. also gold) really need something on their side of the spectrum to keep them in the game and in the ladder trying to improve for these league things.
This was so enjoyable for me, I learned so much, and it gave me the inspiration to crunch out those 200+ ladder games to get back to !
Do remember that this was only #1, so there is much room for improvement and much time for followers to get involved with this! I'll put my hand up for helping out with admin stuff for #2 if needed, as well as general yelling at everyone to play and being a strict, mean person.
I think the league distribution will still be fine as GPD. Including bronze and silver players will honestly just lead to them all getting eliminated quite early which wont be very fun for them, I hate to say it but its the truth. With ex-masters, as long as they have played a convincing amount of games like say 50 or so and are still in gold, platinum or diamond they should be aloud to enter.
As for the scheduled I think the way the Ro32 and Ro16 was done works perfectly. It allows the players to play their games when it suits them and also allows them to practise the specific match ups they are going to play. Fixed schedules should probably used for the semis and grand finals though.
Also the semis and finals are probably the only games that should be casted. I could not watch one of the games due to having terrible lag, I'm not sure if it was on my end or it was twitch but it just wasn't watch-able.
In the end though I found playing in this tournament incredibly fun. I really enjoyed practising specific match ups and builds for the group stages, I really hope there is going to be a 2nd season
Map list, vetos possible? especially in the Bo1 stage
Wouldn't worry too much about streaming to be honest, this tourny is more for the Player than the audience.. Although it would be nice to have semis and finals streamed all in one day, have a reddit thread/team liquid thread, try get a name to cast it etc.
