The winner of the BSG each week is awarded with one hour of professional coaching from a coach in this thread (link) and... "Unearthed Talent" Achievement
Awarded to every sc2sea BSG winner!
Please read the rules if this is your first time entering
You must be legitimately in the Bronze, Silver or Gold league (1v1 - SEA license) and you must be active on ladder.
Players who were previously Platinum or last season are not allowed to participate.
Winners of back to back BSG Opens are respectfully asked to not participate.
Everyone will be checked for typical smurf activity designed to keep them in a lower league.
Anyone found to be smurfing will be added to the BSG Hall of Shame so everyone can be aware of their shameful acts.
Battle.net group: "sc2seaBSG"
Rules
You must contact your opponent on Battle.net preferably by being in chat channel "sc2seaBSG" to play your match
You have ~15 minutes to start your Round 1 match; anybody that is not contactable after 10 minutes will be disqualified. This 10 minute timeout rule applies throughout the tournament.
You must play your main 1v1 ladder race throughout tournament.
Observers: Tournament admins or official streamers are always allowed and the only ones to observe your game
Problems/Questions: When in doubt about anything, contact an admin
Reporting Results: After the match has been played, you must report the result by pm to an admin
Disconnects: If a player disconnects, use the 'Resume from Replay' feature to continue the game. If the player has gone offline completely, inform an admin and wait 10 minutes for them to return.
Pauses: You must notify your opponent in game if you wish to pause. This pause should not exceed 5 minutes. Excessive pausing in game may lead to disqualification.
Bad Manner will not be tolerated. Anyone caught BMing will be warned. Further offenses will lead to disqualification. Any racist, hateful or excessively derogatory language may lead to removal without warning. We are a friendly group and we'd like to see it stay that way.
Replays: Should be saved at least until the following tournament. Anyone asked by admins to provide a replay who cannot do so will be disqualified.
Anyone suspected of smurfing (playing another person's account, manipulating ladder to be in a lower league) will be thoroughly investigated and if found guilty, prizes will be stripped and they will be reported to Blizzard and added to the Hall of Shame.
RANDOM players are not allowed to race pick unless an Admin has been informed a WEEK before for SELECTED matchups.
EXAMPLE 1 - Player A vs Player B - Player A did not inform an Admin and race picks. DISQUALIFIED
EXAMPLE 2 - Player A vs Player B - Player A informed an Admin and race picks. PLAY ON
If you ladder a specific race but because of Unranked 1v1s and Ranked/Unranked Teams you are now placed as RANDOM, inform an Admin at once. Having you sc2sea account filled with the correct information will make this process easier..
With a new season, it means we have had to take a step back and reflect what had happened. In a bid to curb players who join but are considered inactive by whatever standards everyone has decided to setup themselves, we are introducing a minimum games played requirement to join the BSGs now.
This week's requirement is FIVE (5) games.
We understand that this may seem archaic and draconian but we think it is the best way of ensuring players are active on SEA at the least to continue playing in the tournament.
Of course, we understand that not everyone can fulfill this requirement and therefore would like to say that you can PM any one of us to appeal. Members who are BSG and in good standing and/or have a strong presence in the BSG and sc2sea community are welcomed to participate as always without a penalty.
This season, no ex-Platinums or Diamonds from Season 5 are allowed to participate in the BSGs. Former Platinum and Diamond players from Season 4 are welcomed to participate so as long as they are BSG and able to meet the minimum game requirement.
Format
Round of 64 bo1 on Bel'Shir Vestige LE Round of 32 bo1 on Derelict Watcher TE Round of 16 bo1 on Polar Night LE Quarter Finals bo3 on Star Station TE Semi Finals bo3 on Frost LE Finals bo5/3 on Alterzim Stronghold TE
For finals rounds that are best of 3 or 5, loser of previous game may pick any map from the following list. Maps may be repeated as many times as players wish.

So I can technically play in the BSG weekly now?

Players would have up to a week to already play a good chunk of games.. im already at 8... i would suggest doing 10-15 range to get a good feeling of where they are win % wise.
Also... "technically" ... lets not start using phrases that could be subject to interpretation and have more clarity for this season.
Nem has been gold for 2 seasons now i believe?? Therefor Nem can play if so desires..

Not sure if this is what we'll be using, but this is the new map pool, so I'd suggest you guys start getting familiar with these maps We'll be sticking to them for a while, and there are one or two new / modified ones in there!
Edit:
In responce to Narse and Ace.
Yes, players have had time to play games, but not all players would have played yet, but would intend playing in the BSG this weekend. Since we posted it halfway between previous BSG and next BSG, I believe the match requirement was reduced, however, henceforth the requirement will be in larger increments, if I am not mistaken :P And nice to see you laddering a lot Ace, I'm sure you'll break silver soon

remember, this week you need to have 5 games minimum to play in this week's BSG
I also would like to encourage everyone to check their opponent's profile before starting the game so that there is no 'wait, this guy was in plat last season' and he's in the semis

Could we make a potential google data base or something of people who register for BSG's?? have them link their accounts on all 4 servers if applicable?? That way we have an easy go to search and see where everyone is at?
Just a thought...
Also i will sign up, not sure if i am working on saturday, but just in case :P

Having people post their profile link on all four servers is a bit much IMO, but that's finally up to Panda. I'm willing to keep a database about players who play in the BSG.
In addition, it is possible in most cases to find out all or most of a player's profile on other servers, and it has been done a few times recently in order to find out whether or not a player is smurfing.

Or just SEA/NA or something like that as a quick reference guide? just an idea :P... Everyone is right #'s have fallen rapidly in a short amount of time too... we had 34 people in 1. and then barely got 16 the following week.. :/

You always gotta remember the impact that making rules will have on the tourney as a whole. Numbers have been going down for the past 2 years. There was a time when we had people waiting to be placed in the bracket because 64 simply wasnt large enough. Now we dont even fill 32 some nights. There needs to be the right balance struck between rules and the ability for people to sign up for the first time. Even a slight impediment to signing up will see numbers fall drastically I feel. Ofcourse, having smurfing incidents will do the same thing.

yea...rules have been strict in a bid to curb smurfing which we still get complaints of...tht or players dont deserve to play in the BSGs...i think if we acted on every complaint we get, we'd be left with 4 players
in all seriousness tho, numbers have fallen drastically and i don't blame anyone other than the fact that scII atm is an ageing game that a few of us still play (i once told some of my course mates that those who still play sc2 are part of a small elite group of gamers ) and/or IRL commitments...
i hope that the fact that now explats and diamonds from 2 seasons ago are allowed to play will increase the player base somewhat as well as games played requirements will force 'active' players on SEA (who may i add are not really that active...20+ games by season end really?) to actually ladder
And yes, there will be some repercussions to opening to explats and dias but the idea is that coupled with the minimum game req, they may get promoted along the way. Besides, don't you BSG players want some form of challenge at the least? :P

Back when I had time to run bronze only events, that did tend to give small bumps in numbers to BSG as well as most of them would do both. Those who hang around a while usually ended up top 4 eventually. Last time I tried to run a bronze only event though, I got hardly any turnout. Now I just dont have the time to run events.
i never entered this again once i got platinum to be fair to other people, but if the rules have changed i will be back next week, unless I get plat again.

if you hit plat last season you can't enter.
