Just wanna know how many NUS doods are actually playing sc2 regularly. I'm from the engineering faculty, would be good if we can all have a small gathering once in awhile to talk trash bout starcraft2! Better still, we can suggest to include Starcraft2 in the upcoming IFG! (other than good old boring DotA) That'll be great
Post here your IGN, character code so we can add each other!!!!
wow. there's DOTA in IFG now? i graduated years back. i still remember the times when there was broodwar and the comps were running windows NT. everything was a LAN and we would skip lectures to play BW in YIH, and whatever library there was till the librarian realised that people were gaming on the comps!!! nus had so many libraries..
add me im a 1v1 2800-ish diamond zerg, anyone of you would like to practise with me? hope to advance to masters.. need someone to practise and discuss builds with.. and i play quite regularly when i have time..
of course anyone can add me irregardless gd luck for midterms that are coming too..
im willing to help those who need advice as well, although im not really v good ah.. ill do what i can
I hope you guys finished your mid terms... Well mine just ended with MA1506, I was thinking, we start a starcraft clan called NUS? I see that the gaming club issnt really doing anything...but imagine sc2 is in IFG... Engin would definitely win since we have HGHx!!!!
Nah there is no SC2 in IFG now, and i dont forsee it happening before i graduate lol. You know how NUSSU is like. Probably most of the people on the IFG comm play DOTA and were having a conversation about it before implementing. But yeah if it happened engine would stand a good chance of winning.
And NUS clan no lar, but we can meet up once in a while if you guys want. I don't really have time to organise, but wad we can do for now is add each other to bnet first lol
Hey hey Im not from engine! Haha. I'm from FASS!
You can add me crazerk.187 I'm 2800+ diamond Zerg but havent really ladder spammed in a while.
And I actually had an idea of forming a SC2 interest group in NUS but wasn't sure how receptive the idea will be. I had a blogpost up at http://starcraft2atnus.blogspot.com but never got about to publicizing it.
If anyone else is interested we could discuss it seriously my email is in that website so feel free to contact me!
And i would love to see SC2 in IFG! that would just be awesome. I shall be the underdog from arts haha
I'm not too sure where this is gonna go, but if you're gonna organise some stuff then I guess I wouldn't mind taking part. I'm tied down to a clan now tho so may have lesser time 4 u guys. We can use this thread as a "planning ground" for now lol
And looks like we don't have any Terran players, except that guy from law i noe. But dun think he gonna post here lol

Well I first need to know how big our population is. To start up a group like that we'll probably need about.. 20 people? From now it seems like there's like about less than 10 people >.<
I thought it'll be good for SC2 fans who are too lazy to join any other CCA to join this,(read: ME ) at least they've participated in some activity
I suggest wait for more ppl to get on this thread then once we got 20+, then can push for sc2 to be in IFG. There's lots of people playing sc2 in nus but only those who are more interested in MP will come here
i have no idea what most of the abbreviations are :P but if you're looking to start a clan or something, i'm top 10 plat, protoss if you're interested. Crispy.414
ahhh great stuff! so many responses since I last visited sc2sea.com!!!
I've been extremely busy with school work, i gotta admit.. my ability in multi tasking and getting As for modules are so bad i have to giveup playing for awhile. Nevertheless it would be great if we can hang out some day!
I'll hang out in channel NUS when i'm online, if u guys are just pop by the channel!
And yes would be great if IFG implements SC2, NTU has already done it =)
Cheers and good luck for the rest of the semester!
Btw organizing a sc2 tournament is alot of work, with the LAN cables and set up and all. That's what I heard from those who organized the DoTa IFG. I'll definitely help out and volunteer to be a big part of it if it happens, though I would like to take part as well
Gah, got invited for Masters Cup this Sunday but turned it down haha. What's the point playing when the top SEA players are all in it.
i asked one of my friend's from ntu accountancy and he said he hasnt heard abt it... lol. And yes is quite the gamer, altho he didnt buy sc2. But gives u a general idea how "successful" it is. Just saying

Dude, Dkiwi. I can't believe you played SC2 for so long without adding me as a friend. I guess it's because I don't have you on facebook. I have 2 friends from Science who play as well, but we are about plat level only because we are year 4s.

Whoa why here man. And anyway i dun have much time to play now so adding me also no use now. And i did add Robin so if I was active i wud play with u guys eventually, which im not really. And if im on i wud prefer to ladder 1v1. I'm also tied down to some clan now so even lesser time lol. Just add me first dKiWi.801 and see how. U can check my match history to see how "active" i am
I'm gonna matriculate into FASS in AY2011/12. Looking forward to having a few custom game sessions where people take turns to play against each other and help each other improve!
in fact, i have been toying with that thought for a while.
however it is pretty much impossible since there currently exists NUSEG (NUS electronic games society) and forming another cca will be a duplicate. unfortunately nuseg is pretty much a fail group focusing on recreational dota on a weekly basis and hardly reaching out to other gamers or branching out other games.
i was thinking of forming a cca focusing more on a competitive level of more games inclusive of sc2 and possibly representing the varsity team in competitions. basically run like a progaming team with lesser commitment.
haha failgroup.
I would be eager to assist in that endeavor if you do pursue it. I also had something similar in mind (but just for starcraft2) but didn't get much responses from the blog I made http://starcraft2atnus.blogspot.com
well, we can create an e-sports society and make it clear in our manifesto/proposal that we concentrate on games that can be clearly defined as e-sports which usually come from the rts, fps and fighting game genres. I believe that a clear distinction is possible, because gamers like to play a variety of games while cyberathletes only focus down on one game, which to most gamer types is hypeless and pretty boring since you can't really talk to cyberathletes about the latest development in games and the plots of latest games. Which frankly speaking, i dont really care that much about. Gamers on the other hand wouldn't have ever watched gsl.
We can focus on sc2 for the first few years since the resources are more readily available from this thread especially, while we can recruit other members which may or may not be cyberathletes to tackle recruitment for other games, if there is interest. An immediate consideration would be DOTA or any of the spin-offs which include League of Legends and Heroes of Newerth. Don't know how much you guys like these games but if we want to be practical, we need to incorporate those. The eventual leaders will make the decision in the future anyway, this is just a proposal.
I know someone hu shud be quite pro at Street Fighter 4, but then we are all entering final year already dunnoe how much we can contribute honestly.
the part on the proposal seems rather vague. but i think the most important first step is to secure someone on the staff who is willing to be the advisor.
Hi guys, I am a graduating NUS student who plays sc2 regularly. add me at twilight (#273) I hope graduating dudes are allowed! And I was from science chemistry!

Also lets be more responsible with replies... I'm in. That makes me and yongming so far I guess lol. Pls pm me anything urgent. Hopefully i dont have to take up at leadership positions tho... will try to help out as much as i can.
oh interesting. I'm going to be year 3 too, Arts and social sciences. EveRekanise.618
Some of my other teammates will also be in NUS this coming semester

I think you just convince those in your team who are in NUS to join and we'll be good.
Hey guys, let try to make this a little more concrete and compiled. Could those who are interested drop me a PM with your contact details - as much as you are willing to give :
E.g.
Name, Contact Number, Email address, Nick + char code.
I'll compile it and see what we can do. I'm not really good with spearheading proposals and contacting OSA and stuff, so someone needs to step up and do it! I'll be glad to support you and provide whatever assistance I can
okay i just got a proper email from the osa with an attached document. apparently who i had talked to previously had no idea of anything. whoever is interested in taking a look at the word doc. pm me your email. i will forward it to you.
yea PM me your details. And yongming you have my email already send it over
Just to dampen everyone's spirits abit, here are some excerpts of what OSA replied:
Quote:
To answer your question, your proposed interest group must not be similar to any existing student group
Quote:
* The objectives of the proposed interest groups shall not be the same as any of the existing student organisations in the University.
We are going to have to find some way to put forward what we want so that it's entirely different from the existing E-Gaming society. Otherwise, we may be condemned to:

Hence if your interest group is similar to the NUS Electronic Gaming Society, we would encourage you to be a sub-club of the society
A SUBCLUB wtf.

is this an issue with them not being able to differentiate between anything computer related?? quite fail on their part. On what basis do you guys intend on making the case?
the attached docunebt did asked two question though
1. List 2 exisitng groups that is similar to the proposed group.
2. How is your group different from the above listed.
THe case hinges on how these 2 questions are answered. but first need to find out more of the exisitng group. anyone knows anyone from nuseg?
anyway those who are interested to chip in. add me on msn or skype (pm). easier to discuss stuff.

Isn't this exactly what the current e-gaming society does ?(or is supposed to do, regardless of whether they're lame and only play dota)
Ok lar after thinking abt this for awhile and deleting a few typed replies, I realise can take a few paths...
1. Having a main team and a recreational team. We can work towards collaborating with SMU/NTU/SIM to come up with regular tourneys. Weekly trainings like any sports team. This might work if there are enough willing players, but it is less social and require time sacrifice which I'm not sure how many would want to realistically. Carries some level of risk, unless we can safely identify enough players on these forums or bnet forums.
2. Focus on having regular on-the-ground e-sports screenings to have presence on campus, and come up with a team of writers who have knowledge about e-sports to push for newsletters/blogs and stuff like that. Not so much on actually playing games together competitively as a team. This is a very good differentiation factor. And quite importantly it is much more social than option 1. When we secure our status we can push other things.
3. Both together, but that would be a lot more work.
#1 is close to my line of thoughts. the differentiation lies in making e-gaming more of a sports/competitive activity rather than the casual get together setting currently portrayed by nuseg.
Just went for matric fair yday, tagged along with some of my Arts camp freshies. There was only this girl who didn't speak proper Englsh at the NUS E-gaming society booth.. and she didn't know anything. But from their signs there.. they play everything BUT Starcraft2!! What is this!! Absolutely nonsense.
Hello people, long time since i've posted something.
Read through everything in the posts, looks like my brief introduction to get the sc2 NUS guys together has evolved to a discussion to propose an esports club in NUS! Great work guys! Will be really nice to have a tertiary lvl competition (regular event) organized to bond the sc2 community together! On a side note, i'm no longer in NUS. =) Engineering not my cup of tea, currently in SIM.

Funny, I was looking around and didn't even see the booth. Really sad.
Hi guys,
I'm entering SMU and I'm intending to join their Cybergaming club as one of my CCAs, which I believe is called Gamers' Irregular. If you guys intend to start an inter-varsity monthly competition or something like that I can bring up the idea to them. Will be keeping a look out on this thread and you can PM me if I can help in any way as well!
hey i dont know if they are co-ordinating with nus or something but a friend from SMU told me that there are monthly challenges being organized against NUS, do you know anything about it??
I think most players come from Engine? I barely know anyone from Arts who plays :/ I know EveParachute is in Arts now but hardly plays because of hall commitments (he did take part in WCG though haha)
carrot.132 checking in. diamond terran. nus engineering science year 3.
anyway, i know nuseg is hosting some computer gaming competition soon on the 8th oct. check out www.nuseg.com
they have 4 games, dota, something, something, AND WARCRAFT 3 LOLOL. what an old old game. used to play wc3 at quite a high level last time and i signed up for the competition.
anw, shall we organise a meet together lan session in NUS?
Hi,
I guess there are quite a few people who are interested in joining a SC2 cca in NUS
Wonders if we can join the current e-society and create a new SC2 grp within it.
Anyone willing to spearhead this project?
lol anyone knows how to go about doing it?
I dont think it'll be feasible in joining the current NUS e-gaming society as their focus isn't on competitive gaming. Took part in the recent wc3 competition organised by them and it was really an eye opener lol. Think it was just me and two other dudes who are the only local participants(the rest being PRCS) there and we had to play over wireless network(lol) using our own laptop. The rest of the alienware laptops by the sponsors was used for some lame san guo card game that required 0 graphics...
Just a general feeling that it'll be hard to include sc2 into the NUS egaming society since they're PRC dominated(like only <10% local inside) and they're more focused on wc3,dota and the san guo card game :/
omfg. That is ridiculous. I want to infiltrate them and conquer and take over the society. Ridiculous!
If a push for a separate CCA ever occurs we can easily use these points to justify why we should form. Because the current administration is ridiculous.

the current administration is really screwed up, I went for a wc3 competition and they told me that they have no more slots left when they have 12/16 of the slots filled. And I applied like 1 week+ before the tournament started..
