The Intel Extreme Masters Katowice event is fast approaching, and we’d like to share the details on how to qualify for South East Asia / Australia.

1 Player from SEA/AU is eligible to attend the IEM Katowice event directly, two more will qualify for the SEA/China final. Sea residents that are currently living outside of the SEA region cannot participate, they must participate in the qualifiers for the region that they are currently in.

You must be 16 years of age or older by the end of IEM Katowice (20/01/2013) to participate.

Here is how we will determine who the SEA/AU players will be:
• Stage 1: Open bracket
Dates: 4th, 6th, 8th and 9th of December.
The top 2 players from each open bracket will go through to the second stage

• Stage 2: Qualification only
Dates: 15th of December.
8 automatically seeded players will be invited, and compete against the 8 qualifiers.
The top 4 from this stage will go through.

• Stage 3: Final
Date: 16th of December
4 automatically seeded players will be invited, and compete against the 4 qualifiers.
The winner goes straight to IEM Katowice , and the 2nd and 3rd place runner up’s go to the
SEA/China final.

Doesn't matter bro,

Sadly IEM has a 16+ Age restriction. That may be just for the finals - you may be able to play in the qualifiers, but even if you win - you can't go.

Tho you could still play the qualifiers for fun?..

IEM aka Turtle Entertainment is a German company - and eSports/Gaming comes under the same restrictions as gambling in the prize element afaik..
At least thats what was suggested in the ESL chat - so the Laws that govern the company behind IEM restrict it to 16+, sadly. Hope you understand.

Asrathiel is putting together a bit of a guide to activate SC2 on your ESL account so you should be able to participate in the qualifiers and for anyone else interested in signing up to ESL.

Would be good to get people on there - I believe there will be more ladders and competitions coming soon - keep your eyes pealed.

Must say I'm pretty disappointed in mushistar a.k.a. Centrelink. He created his game and instantly left, then forfeited the rest of the Bo3 and went to play in another tourny. Meanwhile he is listed as an official IEM stream in the livestream list?

Ok, so PiG withdrew his seed meaning everyone who got a Stage 2 Seed moves up a rank (and KingKong who was #1 Stage 2 Seed is now #4 Stage 3 Seed)

I am trying to sign up but am getting this message

"You are not yet signed up for this league. The participants that have already registered now have the chance to confirm their participation. If they do not do so within the time limit shown below, their spaces will be available for others to take. Please try again after the time limit shown below has passed."

However under the members tab it says there are only 23 members, but aren't there 32 spots for the bracket? So is this an error or are there some members signed up that are hidden on the members page or is there something else i'm overlooking?
