About MaqLAN

MaqLAN is the biggest gaming event at Macquarie University to be organized by its students. This year MaqLAN is MEXICAN THEMED! MaqLAN is capped at 300 seats and lasting two days, the event will feature tournaments, high-end laser tag, over $4000 in prizes, a BBQ and a heap of other activities.

The Macquarie University Computing Society in association with MPU, NSG and SOGC has coordinated the event with the help of the Science Faculty at Macquarie and other businesses. The goal for the society is to promote gaming on campus and to help form a tighter gaming community amongst students.

Starcraft 2 Comp

• You will need to pay LAN Party entry ($10) as well as the $5.00 comp entry fee, this makes competition costs - $15.00 all up (pay on the day)
• If you aren't bringing your own PC, and require a machine - this will be an extra $5.00 fee - making entry $20.00 all up
• 1 vs 1, Best of 3, Double Elimination Format
• COMPETITION STARTS AT 1PM SHARP on the Saturday. All players are expected to arrive at midday, and prepare themselves ready for 1pm click-off
• We will provide 1 x PC for each of up to 16 competitors. If these positions fill up, and are paid for - then you'll have to BYOC (Bring your own Computer)
• Your entry fee covers all-day laser tag and LAN play as well.

• 1st Place: Gigabyte Osmium Mechanical Keyboard
• 2nd Place: Gigabyte Krypton Gaming Mouse
• 3rd Place: SOGC mousepad + Drink

Astronomy open night is on that night. Why do I get evil thoughts when combining the idea of MaqLAN laster tag and telescopes??? Be a pretty hard shot, But there MIGHT be line-of-sight from the LAN to the telescope :P:P:P

Hi Jaytee here - one of the head admins running the event.

I assure you that it will not be. The team running this is *significantly* more experienced; and unlike SGL we have partnered with the university, meaning our internet connectivity is provided by the uni.

Multiple 100mbit connections, and far more stable than the 4G they were trying to run you guys off.
