Rules
You must contact your opponent on Battle.net preferably by being in chat channel "sc2seaBSG" to play your match
You have ~15 minutes to start your Round 1 match; anybody that is not contactable after 10 minutes will be disqualified. This 10 minute timeout rule applies throughout the tournament.
You must play your main ladder race throughout tournament.
The only race switch allowed is to and you may not switch again.
Observers: Tournament admins or official streamers are always allowed and the only ones to observe your game
Problems/Questions: When in doubt about anything, contact an admin
Reporting Results: After the match has been played, you must report the result by pm to an admin
Disconnects: If a player disconnects, the game must be replayed. If a player disconnects for a second time, his opponent will be awarded a free-win. A win may also be awarded if the player that disconnected was significantly behind at the time of disconnection. Contact an admin if you would like your game/replay reviewed.
Pauses: You must notify your opponent in game if you wish to pause. This pause should not exceed 5 minutes. Excessive pausing in game may lead to disqualification.
Bad Manner will not be tolerated. Anyone caught BMing will be warned. Further offenses will lead to disqualification. Any racist, hateful or excessively derogatory language may lead to removal without warning. We are a friendly group and we'd like to see it stay that way.
Replays: Should be saved at least until the following tournament. Anyone asked by admins to provide a replay who cannot do so will be disqualified.
Anyone suspected of smurfing (playing another person's account, manipulating ladder to be in a lower league) will be thoroughly investigated and if found guilty, prizes will be stripped and they will be reported to Blizzard and added to the Hall of Shame.

I would also like to open up discussion on a rule...
I've noticed a few players who have been in a higher league ( Platinum ) and have been demoted for whatever reason, most likely inactivity on ladder.
They then get placed back in gold, and joined BSG without having done very many ladder games for the season...
So i would like to suggest a rule regarding people in this situation...
If a player has been ranked in a league higher than BSG in the last 2 seasons, they must play at least 25 games ( more maybe? ) in the current season to be eligible for the BSG tournament.
What are peoples thoughts on this?
Edit:
If this is too hard to police, maybe we could just blanket anyone who has been plat or higher in the last 2 seasons as ineligible, and they'll just have to play the GPD instead?
I don't mean to step on anyone's toes here, It's just something i've been thinking about for the last couple of weeks.

There could be reasons for the demotion such as change of race, inactivity for a season as well as 'blizzard placed me too high a league during placement and I lost heaps to be where I should be, which is BSG' etc.
Even then I have heard of cases of players who were placed plat then was on a losing streak soon after and demoted back to gold (not smurfing but geninue cases of players who might not really be ready for being plat)
Perhaps if we can sieve players placed higher than plat before and how long he was plat that might be a better indication of whether he is suitable for the BSG weeklies?
I agree with the anti-Smurf rule. I hate playing someone who was demoted from plat (or diamond) who has played 2 games.... its total BS and needs to be revised.
Inactive players do get removed and it's already in the rules that you have to be active on ladder to be eligible to play.
And on the second point, there have been a couple of players who dropped legitimately from Diamond to Gold when they changed races and these players competed at the same level as the other golds in the competition until they were promoted out of BSG again.
If you face anyone who you think breaks the rules, just let me or another admin know and we'll look into the player in question. I know when I'm running admin, I check every person who reports a win to me before advancing them in the brackets.
gl hf everyone. See you all tomorrow

Am currently Gold on NA (where I am active), and am unranked on SEA (previously diamond 2 seasons ago after getting lucky in my placements. I was inactive throughout the season after being placed, however).
Well played coktator and PraiseB showing us a great vs to finish off this week's BSG Open.
Congratulations also go out to ironside and Milata also making the semifinals and qualifying for the next BSG Cup
Special mention to the regular competitors TCPStealThor and the two BSG ToRians, ZooS and GreenArchon, making the quarter finals and coming so close to their own BSG Cup qualification this week. Good luck on one step further next week guys
Thank you to all players and check out the vods on Venom's YouTube -> www.youtube.com/venomlord17
