For our give away contests we will be handing out 6 never to be made again SC2SEA tees. The winner of each contest will receive an all expenses paid Tee courtesy of SC2SEA! The third contest begins now!
Are you puzzled by puzzles? Do your artistic talents leave too much to the imagination? This may be the contest for you: Welcome to...
The Tal'darim Time Trial!
The Tal'darim Time Trial is a four part custom map that combines Starcraft activities with SC2SEA trivia!
To succeed you will need a combination of skill, knowledge, strategy and execution.
To win the Tee you will need to race against the clock to complete the map in the best time possible and submit a link to the replay via PM to me using a site like drop.sc, replayfu.com or any other easy to access replay location.
What can I expect?
The first challenge of the map is the Warp Arena and it is relatively simple. Avoid taking damage from the zealots by any means necessary. Zealots will be periodically warped in via warp prisms on the periphery of the arena. Answering the question stops them from spawning and clears your way to the second challenge.
The Lightning Round involves avoiding psionic storm's thrown by the high templar on the edge of the gaunlet. The High Templar have a large amount of armor and shields as well as generous energy regeneration and engaging them for too long would be suicidal. Answering the trivia question opens the barrier to the third challenge.
Easily the most complicated phase of the map, you will be given access to an orbital command and some workers and tasked with destroying barriers and photon canon's to gain access to the final event. The best way to tackle this stage is up to you.
Hints:
Success in this phase can depend heavily in your performance in previous phases.
SCV's make a good damage buffer and are your only regenerating units.
Gas can be gathered to acquire upgrades.
Every ability of your Orbital Command can be useful including supply drop.
The Canon has very high armor shields that quickly regenerate, EMP can be used to quickly damage through it.
I guess you'll find out.
How do I play?
The map is now live you can search for: SC2SEA Time Attack
All you will need to do is search the SEA Arcade for it and press Play.
When will it end?
Entries close Wednesday the 26th at 7PM AEST.
If you used hold position to block the creep your entry will not be permitted, sorry.
I'll allow a lot but it trivialises the third part too much.
Good Luck!

* half your units getting forcefielded out of the lightning lane PERMANENTLY
* banelings respawning on top of your army without warning
* 6 dt's spawning at once
am i supposed to be unable to build units? gave up. dunno how to beat 2 550 hp 35 damage cannons and 6 DTs with only SCV and 2 marauder/handful of marine, how did you guys do it? any replays o.o

Not being able to build buildings with the scv's is intentional, you have to use everything else at your disposal to complete it.

OMG, that replay was unfortunately minutes too late, if it's any consolation the replay time says 3m 06s so unfortunately it wouldn't have won by a second even if I could have accepted it, but i'll edit it in.
-Neutral camps should be a lot less likely to spawn on top of players
-The first storm of the lightning round should never be on the position closest the forcefield
-DT's while intentional that they ramp up should now be a little less random.
-Made the camera reset after the end cutscene, hopefully making it so replays can be watched without having to reload them.

In the spirit of me being a lamer, I'm not submitting mine till the end so people have no idea if they're beating my time or not (hint; I'm currently winning. by a lot.)

Still a few problems with the maps (yeah I'm still playing).
The first storm of the lightning round sometimes still hits my units as soon as they walk up next to the forcefield.
I don't think the end works anymore. I answer the trivia question and then it says "correct!" and then nothing happens and the 3 colossus kill me.
Or I answer the question and nothing happens at all. I was going for a more cheesy approach to the game this time, and didn't kill the pylon or dts so maybe that is an intentional feature of the game. Would have been about 3:45 if it worked, though...

He sent me the replay, he answered the question, but it didn't trigger due to a bug and he just played legitimately well to get to that point/time. Should be fixed now.
Sorry! I broke the final question accidentally while fixing the cut scene, it should be fine now along with the storms, though I only got to test a few times this morning.
Congratulations to Pinder on the winning entry, and thank you to everyone who played the map even if you didn't submit a replay.
I had a lot of fun making it and watching people playing it and I'll be doing up a post-mortem write up as a blog where I go into a bit more detail about making it and my thoughts on the submitted replays you can find it over here.
