SC2SEA turns TWO!!

A gentlemanly creation

Some Nostalgia!

Today on the 14th September, 2012 SC2SEA.com turns two years old!

For those of you who don't know the story, the idea for a SEA community site first came to our minds at a dicussion in 2010 around the time of the first Blizzard SEA invitational which was an online event that was almost held live in Singapore. During the lead up to the event, Sheepy and myself were called upon by some Singaporean admins to discuss how we could improve the "starcraft scene" and "eSports" in the region. After some brainstorming Sheepy and I suggested the idea of creating a community site like TL for our region to span across multiple games and be a spring board for game launches, tournaments and at the same time promote the scene. It was a long term plan that would surely develop the gaming scene but we knew it would take too much time and were busy with our jobs so we never thought of getting involved or doing it ourselves. I felt our scene was missing out big as it lacked this core community component but the guys kinda dismissed our idea and just laughed it off as being unrealistic and so that put an end to that and we never thought about it again.

A month later a casual friend of mine called kelbro (Craiglist) randomly asked me out to breakfast at Maccas one morning and fondly recalled the good "old warcraft days" with the old aLt (sg war3 clan site) that I ran and hoped I did something similar for Starcraft 2, which he was playing at that moment. I was still very hesistent so to convince me he promised he would help me with the news, content and many other ways during the kick starting of it. He then went on to make a grand total of one post and was never heard off again lol. But thanks anyway Kelbro if not for that breakfast we would not have existed! So later on that very afternoon I googled some CMS fourm systems, picked what I thought was the best one and hurriedly threw up something minimal not expecting it to be anything more than the casual aLt site we had for war3. And on that very day SC2SEA was born! And wow how things have changed!

Its back! Just like our exciting race wars last year which ~~soulman~~ the Protoss team ended up winning by a single map, the teams will consist of an elite 10 players handpicked by their captains. They will play each other in a total of 3 matches Bo9 GSTL format, ZvP, ZvT, TvP and the team with the best map score wins the tournament determining the most OP race in SEA! The games will have the same twist as last year, a caster is assigned to each team and he/she will take turns casting with the team, so you can watch the casts from two different perspectives in each round.

The winning team wins the SC2SEA Race Wars achievement.

13 - 30 Sep SC2SEA Tee Shirt Contest!

We have just a couple of Large Gray SC2SEA tees remaining in store, and these will be given as prizes in a series of contests created by the SC2SEA Writing and News Teams. "Writers Block" & "Dead Poet's Society". I'm leaving it totally up to them how they want the contest to be, maybe there will be photo hunts and other puzzles. The winners will receive complimentary limited edition SC2SEA tees, the very last SC2SEA tees in existence, with postage and all other costs been taken care off. More details will come soon, but for now, the discounts for the Starcraft 2 Korean accounts are already in effect and last for the next 3 days. Enjoy the celebration and events!
