For the first time, Australia will be sending a representative to IESF in Korea. IESF is an international competition run each year, and is quite similar to WCG. In the past, other SEA countries such as Singapore and Malaysia have attended the event.
Qualifier details
The event will have a qualifier portion, followed by the finals. We want to provide an avenue for players of all skill levels to participate, and thus we have broken up the qualifiers as follows:
4 Grandmaster/Masters Groups
2 Platinum/Diamond Groups
1 BSG Qualifier
Group stage will be Bo3 double elimination and will take place on the 18th/19th/25th of August. 2 GM, 1 DP and 1 BSG group will take place on each day. From each group, the top 2 will advance to the final bracket.
The bracket will begin at 1pm AEST. Players will only be able to participate in a single bracket. Players will be able to choose which bracket they enter, however if the bracket numbers are lopsided, we reserve the right to balance them out (In which case we will move the lower league players around before the higher seeded players). The top 4 players will be seeded in the bracket, the rest will be randomized. Seeds will be based on SEA ladder rank (as it is the only unbiased way to do it).
BSG and PD players: Your division is which league you are on the day of the qualifiers. If you are promoted or demoted after signing up, you are expected to change which qualifier you enter. Failing to do so will end in disqualification. Your league is whichever league you are on your most active server (Most ladder games played).
You must be an Australian Citizen to be eligible to represent our country at IESF and thus play in the qualifiers.
The final bracket will be Bo3 double elimination and take place on Saturday 22nd of September at 1pm AEST.
Maps:
WCS Cloud Kingdom LE
WCS Daybreak LE
WCS Ohana LE
WCS Antiga Shipyard
WCS Entombed Valley
WCS Shakuras Plateau
WCS Tal’Darim Altar LE
Players will veto down to 3 maps for each series, that is the map pool for the Bo3. Each player will then veto an additional map each to choose the starting map for the series.
Prizes:
The winner of the final bracket will receive a Paid flight to the IESF Finals in Korea, as well as Accommodation and food expenses covered.
Further prizes may be announced.
Signups:
Please sign up at the following challonge links. Please only sign up to 1 qualifier. If you sign up to multiple brackets, we will remove you from any additional brackets and you lose your ability to pick a bracket.
All games are to be played on the SEA server. Players should use the chat channel 'IESF Aus' to find players. If you are not in the channel, you may be subject to being walked over. If the channel fills, the secondary channel 'IESF Aus 2' will be used. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask in this thread.

Damn I was thinking I'd play this from Germany if I was knocked out of IEM by this stage... then I remembered that I'd have 500ms and the timezones are different! Me genius lol!
PiG and Glade, I'll try and have a chat to you guys this weekend, see if we can figure something out that is fair to not only yourselves, but the rest of the competitors.
Hi guys, just wanted to give you guys a quick update.
We have made a few small changes to the event to accommodate more players and after talking to some of the other guys who are helping me run the event we have made a few small changes.
- GM/M Qualifier 3 has been moved back a week to the 25th of August. This will accommodate players that are busy with other events next weekend
- The Final qualifier has been moved back to the 22nd of September (I got the month right this time :P)
- The BSG qualifiers have been merged into next weeks BSG weekly tournament, where the top 4 will receive seeds to the IESF Aus qualifier Final. More details regarding that event coming later in the week.
If you have any feedback or questions, please do not hesitate to ask.
Yep, we're looking at moving it a week earlier. I will have 100% locked in dates (including the date the winning player will be in Korea for the final event) tomorrow during the final qualifier (I'll post it and talk about it during the event).
Also want to point out the FINAL qualifier is tomorrow, if you haven't tried to qualify yet, make sure you sign up!
Ok thx, can you please deregister toast from bracket 1 of the noob league. I created a proper account and register.
Question, once the winner of the noob league is decided do they get any prizes? Or do they just go up to the pro league and compete with the rest for the one trip to korea.

Just a heads up to everyone that the brackets for tomorrows games will close about half an hour before the games are scheduled to begin. Make sure you are signed up then or you will miss out on tomorrows brackets.
Brackets for Sunday and the one next week will be open until 30 minutes before those games, so if you miss out tomorrow, there are other opportunities for you!
Please remove me (nRvPickle.301) from Sunday's GM4 bracket, will be changing to the GM2 bracket on Saturday. I can't do it myself since I signed up when I wasn't logged in on my challonge account. Thanks!
Edit: Forgot the times so changed back to Sunday, sorry for any inconvenience!

Dammit >.< I forgot I was playing in this today. Would it be possible to play in the next qualifier next sat?
It's a bit of a grey area, but based on the fact that this final qualifier is looking significantly harder than the other 3, and it is obvious it poses no advantage to play in that one instead, I'll allow it ONLY for people that were walked over in their brackets. If you failed to qualify, unfortunately you cannot have a second shot at it.
So if I get promoted I'll have to play in the p/d right? Ugh that might get messy, I'm kinda close to plat I feel and I know I'll get destroyed (more than I already will) if I go up to that rank

Just making a post to remind people that this final qualifier is in 12 hours! Signups will close 30 minutes before the games start (Brackets close at 12:30pm AEST), make sure you are online and ready as walkovers will happen at 1:15pm AEST (unless there is unusual circumstances like last weeks inability for some players to log on).
deth had to work today, and he finishes at 12:30, iv'e been trying to contact him but he hasn't been answering his phone so I don't know when he will be back to play this tournament.
EDIT: OMFG EB staff are so retarted, so deth can't make the tournament because he has to work another hour.
Sorry guys..
Hey guys, finally able to sit down at my computer and follow up on all the IeSF stuff ^_^
Firstly, I wrote a quick review of the qualifiers, if you want to check it out, visit this link
Anyway, the 16 qualifying players are (In league and qualifying order):
iMMafia
xGKingPoker
EveTechtron
xGKingSatu
iMLight
NvRossi
cRNinja
TtPiG
Toast
XtreMe
DronesInJail
NvDox
HoHKoketsu
BEASTMODE
fAiRyDuSt
FSZomgrofl
The final bracket will take place on the 15th of September. It will start in the afternoon (we will lock in an exact time a little closer to the date as we have some stuff planned for the event we need to nail down first). Being double elimination, it should go for a good amount of time.
The winner will be sent to the World Championships. The player will be required to be in Korea from October 2nd to October 6th for the event.
Brackets will be generated about a week out from the event, and I will guarantee no team kills in the first round. If your team is not displayed correctly or at all in the above list, please post here or contact me in some way (PM, email).

I honestly dislike this even though it seems to be commonly accepted on SEA. Whilst team kills suck for the players involved, it is also unfair for the team you are on to have an influence on the bracket in a solo tournament in my opinion.
This is an extreme example but it will get my point across:
Lets say that iM Mafia beats iM Light 100% of the time but Light beats everyone else in the tournament 100% of the time. With team kills allowed in the first round, this means that Light has the possibility of losing in round 1 but with out team kills allowed it means he will always get past round 1. Thats an example of a player getting an advantage from this system.
The other thing that could happen is that the team being represented could gain an advantage, see this extreme example:
8 man bracket, 4 people on the same team, 4 randoms. With team kills allowed in the first round, there is a possibility the 4 team members could get lumped into the top half of the bracket, only allowing a max of 2 players into the top 4. With team kills not allowed in the first round, its possible for the team the players are representing to get 4 players in the top 4.
These examples are extreme but show that not allowing team kills in the first round influence the way the brackets play out - some people may prefer it this way, it's just my opinion really.
Also not allowing team kills in the first round means that there needs to be human interaction with the bracket generation which is obviously not preferred unless there is some way of randomizing logically whilst forcing no team kills.
I honestly dislike this even though it seems to be commonly accepted on SEA.
As far as I'm aware, it's only really happened twice before - one of them being WCG Australia 2011 and the other one I can't even remember, maybe the IPL4 Australian Qualifiers or something. Nv have been team killing eachother in pretty much every tournament since the team launched. :P
I agree that it's an accepted part of competitive solo play, but it's a nice gesture every now and then, too!
I'm a little confused by what's detailed here, and what someone mentioned to me during BSG cup on Sunday - As I qualified for the BSG section - will I be playing against BSG people on the 15th, or just anyone from the 16 listed?

It will be a random bracket Fenner, I'll just check it before publishing to ensure there are no team kills in round 1, and if there is I'll simply re-random it.
I understand your point Fenner, however I think you're reading too much into it. It's just intended as a nice gesture to the players as hitting a teammate in the first round of any event sucks. If a team had a large amount of players, at the point where the brackets were no longer that random, I wouldn't be doing it this way. But that isn't the case here.
I qualified for the finals on the 15th of sept but tbh I almost feel bad for taking the spots off top end Australian players. I think it would of been better to have another short tournament were all the non masters players went up against each other before the finals and the final 2 got to represent the lower leagues. That way making 14 spots available for the pro/semi pros and 2 spots for the lucky rest.
