The day after WCS Oceania has wrapped up, our very own Tt.PiG & Nv.mOOnGLaDe will be boarding a 28 hour flight to Germany, where they'll be making their way from Frankfurt to Cologne to represent Australia and South East Asia at Gamescom. The groups were revealed earlier this morning on TeamLiquid, with both of our players finding themselves in a challenging, but favourable position.
With 3 players from each group advancing to the final bracket and Zerg players already outnumbering the combined Terran/Protoss roster 2:1, our SEA champions are going to find themselves in very familiar territory. It looks like no matter where they go, they can't escape the ZvZzzZzz..!
But don't count out the open bracket participants - there are opportunities for seasoned veterans and unknown players alike to break through into the group stages and cause some considerable upsets.
The path of PiG will be a tricky one, having to prepare for all three matchups if he wants to advance from his group. I'm sure GLaDe will be doing everything he can to help PiG succeed in his match against viOlet, after having been defeated by him during his last Code A qualifier attempt. Last time PiG competed at IEM in Guangzhou, he was grouped with PuMa and HasuObs - both of them being no strangers to championships - who eventually ended up taking 3rd and 4th respectively. This time, he finds himself facing yet another strong Terran and Protoss duo in Kas & Feast. But are they strong enough to take down Tt eSports' Notorious Aussie ambassador?
As for mOOnGLaDe, there's no denying that his strongest opponent is going to be the Guangzhou runner-up: Elfi. However, we've seen in the past that when it comes to IEM, our SEA King has a habit of pulling out tremendous ZvP victories over players such as Socke, Squirtle & HuK. Those in-the-know over at TeamLiquid are dubbing Minigun as a strong contender for this group, with a strong reputation when it comes to PvZ. Whilst sLivko hasn't showcased the most prominent appearance on the global stage, his results make it abundantly clear that he's not an opponent to be taken lightly. Having taken maps and series from notable Zerg players such as Stephano, HyuN, Snute & Nerchio, Nv's mOOnGLaDe is really going to have to showcase the value of playing ZvZ almost exclusively in SEA.
Please wish the best of luck to both of our players as they go head-to-head in the WCS Australia finals next week, and side-by-side in Germany a few days later. You can send your cheers to them via Twitter at: @TtPiG_SC2 & @mOOnGLaDeau
Schedule
PiG will begin his group matches at 10:30PM AEST on Thursday night. mOOnGLaDe will begin his group matches at 5:00PM AEST on Friday afternoon.
Group Stage: (Top 3 Qualify) Group A (Nerchio, ForGG, SortOf) | Group B (Mvp, viOLet, Kas) PiG's Group Group C (Bomber, sLivko, elfi) GLaDe's Group | Group D (SuperNova, MC, VortiX)
Hope the flights aren't too painful, there have been some horror stories about Gamescom accommodation and it'll take it's toll immediately after WCS GL!
The guys will be arriving the afternoon before the open bracket, so they'll have a day to unwind and spectate/practice while they wait for the actual Group Stages to begin. Also, since mOOnGLaDe is in Group C, he probably has an additional day on top of that. (A+B Day 1, C+D Day 2)
i have seen slivko play dimaga a lot and his ZvZ is very strong and minigun doesn't seem like much of a threat from what I have seen recently. Elfi obviously is a strong protoss but can't recall any of his games.
PiG's group is just full of scary guys 0.o
Best of luck to them both and look forward to seeing a Glade v PiG finals
All the best lads. Followed yas through the Australian and Oceania WCS series, if you can reproduce your best playing that you showed us in these events I'm confident you'll get through the group stages! Give 'em hell!
Both PiG and MG have really tough groups, probably moreso PiG...but anyways I think they are up to the challenge with a lot of recent big tournament experience too!
Would someone be able to make a live report thread of this event? Probably only focusing on SEA guys ofc., but it would make it easier to show Pig and Glade's journey. Otherwise, GLHF PIG AND GLADE!

"Arrives in Cologne, eats schitzel and beers for dinner! Gets to hotel and switches on TV to be greeted by softcore porn. I love Germany!"

just going on how both nestea and mvp played yesterday I reckon PiG has a really good shot at beating them and moving through.
they're both off their game, especially nestea, he was doing some weird shit last night. takes huge advantage, sits back and makes 20+ broods, 30+ spines, does nothing for 15minutes.
"Any games I take are blessings and the first game was a win and broke my no wins in international tourneys streak So here I am willing to fight my heart out to show I'm the boss of zvz. I will play 5% better then I did against Nestea and show violet who's boss!"
I love you babe So proud!
P.S. He also said he was gonna targa bane violet first game lol Did that happen?
Anyone got that screenshot of when people were spamming notorious PiG in the day9 tv chat?
BL piggy, first international win is a big ups.
Hopefully you learn from this and rip it up next time, I expect lots of back massages for glade today so he can rip up his bracket
All the outsiders will never know the rollercoaster that the last week has been for our players. Prepping & playing in WCS Australia & WCS Oceania over a long weekend, then flying out the next day to Germany and trying to prep against the absolutely best players in the world. I can't begin to fathom how hard that much be - the mental and physical exhaustion & the nerves would kill me!
This is all I could find at the moment, I'll add more as I find them!

I agree so much!
mOOnGLade needs a line we can spam the chat with....
PiG looks like a tank in that pic with white ra. well done Jared is awesome to see you get some world exposure. Looking forward to glade tonight GL glade SEA HWAITING
also when the scores are posted on opposite sides as to who won between the 2 people and you didn't have a chance to see them is a natural error to be like hay he won those games and lost those not really an epic fail at all.

ugh epic brain fart...
it was 430 in the morning, give me some slack, aha.
The first 3 days have been full of amazing sets and series but also a lot of upsets, especially for our scene. I could have sworn on day 1 I bet with my friends on skype TargA would beat Ace but would have no idea he would go through Ace, Oz and take a game off Mvp. The series vs Grubby was nailbiting, although it sucks TargA couldn't capitalize on his advantage on G2.
D2 was upsetting for 1/2 of the Aussie hope PiG but I was really impressed with Kas's resilience vs NesTea in the last series of the day. Unfortunately PiG was put into the group of death imo.
D3 proved that mOOnGLaDe is easily at the top of the foreigner scene. Although he made it out at 5th, it doesn't show how mOOnGLaDe was to getting 2nd, or maybe 1st. Beating bomber and (pretty much) throwing series vs sLivko and Elfi just sucked. VortiX fighting it out now, even though he's 0-4 I hope he can do well (Spanish pride!)
Glade's close calls must've been pretty gut-wrenching for him. Still, to take out Bomber the way he did was pretty astounding. All the lost series were ******* close, too.
